I don't know if this has already been discussed but I came across this WoB.

MACEN

When Hoid was talking to Dalinar, he seemed to expect that Dalinar had heard of Adonalsium. Why would he think that?

BRANDON SANDERSON

He thought that Dalinar was part of some of the secret societies on Roshar. And he had thought his way into thinking Dalinar was part of them and that was how Dalinar was knowing certain things. Which he really wasn't he was getting them from the storms and things like this. But he thought that Gavilar had confided things in Dalinar. That Dalinar would know more about this. So he was kind of testing to see. And he was wrong.

Brandon implies that Gavilar was aware of Adonalsium and that he passed the knowledge to Dalinar. So how Cosmere aware was Gavilar and how could he have learnt about it in the first place?

Seeing that they are trying to bring back the Heralds by unleashing a desolation, I say not much. IIRC it is quite general knowledge for cosmere aware people to know what happened with the Heralds.

In the way BS answers the question, he implies that he did know about Adonalsium. I might be reading too much into it but just a thought...

Well, Gavilar has connections to many secret societies of Roshar... which some of them are at odds with each other now.

He confided in Taravangian who has gone and created Diagram and his society. Sons Of Honor have connection to him. There is a lot of mystery around Gavilar.

Taravangian implies that Gavilar received the same visions that Dalinar later received. With this knowledge, Gavilar's cryptic last words to Dalinar seem to imply that Gavilar himself could not manifest the immortal words but that he knew of them. This also implies some Cosmeric awareness.

Since the Parshendi killed him I think he was part of the Sons of Honor, and he probably told them he's going to bring back the Voidbringers and they decided to kill him before he can do that, so if he is a Son than he probably knew something

I am pretty sure we know that is true. Not as sure about which conspiracies he was in on, though I think we know Amaram was involved.

Could Taravangian be part of the Sons of Honor?

Theoretically? Yes, because we have no proof that he's not (at least, none that I'm aware of). But as far as I've been able to tell, Taravangian doesn't seem to give a hoot about if the heralds return or not, which appears to be the goal of the SoH. So probably not.

Pretty sure Taravangian is formally part of the diagramists, his own group... I believe the sons of honor is a secret society that is at odds with the diagramists.

At times they seem at odds, but others... I wonder if the Sons of Honor could be pawns of T and his Diagram. There's that time where Graves tells Moash he (Graves) is a patriot, and that always makes me think more of the Sons of Honor than the Diagram. What if bringing back the Vorin Church is part of the "solution" according to The Diagram? If nothing else, the Sons of Honor could be pawns of T and the Diagram. Or loose allies, harking back to before Gavilar was assassinated. It doesn't sound like T sent Szeth after any of the Sons of Honor. I feel like we're missing some info.
