The 17S 4 Discussion Thread

Looking through the site, I've noticed the logos on top. It's a nice touch that gallery is marked with Lightweaver symbol and Coppermind with Truthwather one. 

Still haven't figured out how to see which of my post have been up- and downvoted, though. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

Since the Preview button adds an extra row to the mobile editor, would it be possible to add a few more of the options to it, to fill out the row? I think color and alignment would be two really nice ones to have on mobile.

I notice it no longer has twenty posts per page. Now it's twenry five. And I definitely upvoted and downvoted chaos's post in excitement.

@Chaos, do all the codes in my signature still work in the new update? and i'd vote against the complete removal of the reputation system.

I can understand that perspective on the color scheme. May I ask if you had similar issues with the old version? It had a very similar white color scheme. 

As for the new posts, that is a thing actively on my agenda today. It didn't turn out good enough on the live site compared to us testing.

Someday there could be other skins that are darker, but it is more effort than is immediately obvious.

Actually i didn´t have such issuses with the old version. Maybe it was because the background had more colour or it was because the orange from a new post worked as a contrast, i don´t know.

To update my opinion: I´m already starting to getting used to the design, but i still find it steril and lifeless (i believe it will always be tolerating rather than liking). Also i find the site works far better now, thanks for that

I really like the Popular Contributors feature on the homepage now. That's interesting. 

And not pushing enter twice is going to be hard to get used to.

The Popular Contributors list I mentioned is kinda the same but only with the top 5.

Depends on phone size. I will investigate.

Your sig codes should be fine. The rep system is not going away.

Interesting to hear, especially as I am thinking how to make the unread forum marker better. 

If you're curious as to why it's so different here, in IPB 3.4 forums used two images, an "inactive" image and an "active" image for forum icons. In the new site, they use icons, so the old aon glow effect isn't possible to do. I am investigating how to make it, though, so don't worry.

It's under the Popular Contributors block on the forum sidebar. Unfortunately there is not a way to paginate it, but I think it's very cool to see who is on top weekly, monthly, etc.

I noticed when signing in a new option: "Theme". It displayed two choices; "Default" and "17thShard Skin(Default)".  Are additional options for themes forthcoming?

Oops, that's not supposed to be there. I have fixed it.

Additional themes are very much possible, but do require additional overhead.

@Chaos it's not letting me change my signature? I've tried thre times to completely delete it, and each time it says it's saved, but when I view a post, the Signature is still there.

(I'm having some serious issues with quotes, btw - if I take a partial post and clear it and then click "quote" on another post, the quote comes in but fills the entire post such that I can't hit enter anywhere or type outside the quote)

That doesn't do what "My Content" used to at all. That shows new posts in topics you've posted, not in threads where you've posted. If you didn't start the thread, the thread doesn't appear there. This is closer to what was asked for:

However, that only works if you have autofollow enabled.

My signature breaks the signature rules though. Is my destiny to rebel against Chaos and become the next Holder of the Seventeenth Shard? Cause I won't fight that destiny at all.

Basically with Activity Streams you can set what things you want displayed, and so I just changed the Ownership tab to "I posted in". Does that do it? The Activity streams seem to load very slowly for me... so I dunno, but I think that should do it?

I do just want to give @Chaos and everyone else a big kudos for getting everything implemented and rolled out! I for one love the new design and have no problem with it! (I believe I did say to Wilson that it hurts my eyes with brightness at first, but that was just the initial seeing of it, totally adjusted now)

One thing is when looking at my inbox, it says

Used -49400% storage

Out of Max -1. Is this just a little hiccup with the numbers? And not sure if it's just my wonky screen resolution, all the messages are grouped up to the left in the box with a lot of blank space on the right side of the page, is there any way to stretch the messages out to take up more of the screen and see more of them?
I do like how the PMs have the text preview though so you can see what was last said, definitely a nice touch!

Edit: Yeah, when I post it's been taking a few seconds to go through, so I've been hitting refresh and I think that's been double-submitting my posts, which with Chaos mentioning the doublepost automerge new feature, that could explain it.

So, here is what the site looks like with the header and background blocked (screenshot scaled down to 75% and personal info blacked out):

At that resolution, the header image was taking up about 50% of the screen.

I find this gives me far less of a headache (I'm pretty photosensitive) and lets me read stuff without having to scroll past the header image every time. The only problem with doing this is that because the notifications, messages, and followed content links are all missing, I had to bookmark those pages to get to them. To me, that's a small price to pay for a far more condensed site that's easier for my eyes to deal with.

What screen resolution are you running?
