Sorry, but you lost me when you insulted Reckoners. 

That series is what got me reading Sanderson in the first place, and if the Reckoners RPG is any indication, there are plenty of other fans who enjoyed it as much as I did. You seem set in disliking it, so I won't waste time defending it to you, but I'll add my voice to those saying that you're not getting off on the right foot here. Maybe tone down the Stormlight-supremacy rhetoric just a tad?

I'm kinda lost as to why this guy is getting that many down votes. I didn't even blink reading his post but I'm a massively laid back guy and it would take quite a bit to bet my blood going. 

 

Now though if any author needs to be told to stop all side projects/signings/events etc it's Martin.

Thanks guy. Every body gets so butt hurt, when the truth is told. I well only read his stormlight series. Every thing else is just to kiddy.. I guess after reading the malazan series makes anything seem like a coloring book.

There's your problem. You are acting like everyone else's opinion is wrong. Sanderson's other series have tons of fans, and you are basically saying that Sanderson should only work on what you want, and anyone who isn't happy with that is "butt hurt."

After rereading the OP I have come to the conclusion that people are down-voting for a couple of reasons.

1) The tone could be read as (note: I am not saying the tone is) arrogant and smug.
2) The whole post could easily be seen as vaguely insulting to people who like works of Sanderson that are not the Stormlight Archive. (calling the rest of Sanderson's work "kiddy")
3) For people who are more aware of how Brandon operates the whole post comes off as completely incorrect. Brandon thrives on helping others become better writers (Writing Excuses podcast, Warbreaker for free plus all the draft versions to show progress, teaching a Creative Writing class at BYU, posting annotations etc.). Brandon has also said that writing multiple projects is how he staves off writer's block. So, the complaint that Brandon needs to focus on the "important" series and stop doing these other things is very off-base as depriving Brandon of these things would most likely cause him to stop writing all-together.

I think I could go on but I definitely see why people are looking at this post and going "Yup, that is a down vote worthy post." The sentiments expressed herein could definitely be shared in a way that does not insult other fans and that does not contradict the stated methodology of the author in question.

Also, while writing this, the OP posted another comment mentioning how

It is exactly this sort of mentality (I am right and other people are wrong) that attracted the first round of down votes and I can only imagine that if the same people read this far another wave of down votes is coming. 

Lastly, I would like to say that I am in no way trying to insult the OP. I am spelling out my interpretation of what might have been the cause of the down votes.

If there's one thing that generally doesn't fly on this site, it's rudeness.  Your tone is at the same time both snobbish and petulant, and your continued attempts at incendiary speech paint you as a troll.  Quite frankly, I get tired enough of people politely complaining about "how long Stormlight is taking." 

You're not winning any fans here, is what I'm saying.  Please go learn some basic manners, and come back when you're through.

Brandon Sanderson loves his writing. He loves his fans. He loves to see and reckognize what his fans do. He realizes how important his fans are to his writing career. Tome completely honest, I know a lot of Sanderfans who haven't read Stormlight Archive yet. Fans that, if he hadn't written anything else, he wouldn't have. And, one reason I love,Brandon Sanderson is that he goes out to see his fans, and help people learn to write.

Lol, this made my night. Let me stoke the fire, while I straighten my monocle and put out my cigar to comment back to this one.

 Let me clarify this for all of you Mr. Sanderson is an amazing writer, he is a wonderful person the fact that he does all the things to interact with his fans to help do all this. I am not hating on him and saying I want to literally punch him in the face because he does this. 

 I guess I just ruin myself with his work by starting with the starlight series. It's in another league than anything else he is going to write. He has said his self that he has thought of the story since he was in high school. So I guess kiddy was a vague. 

To me a great masterpiece of fantasy literature is 500+ pages. Huge door stoppers( and of course there are good owns that are not, this is my opinion, remember.)

With that said, I just wanted you peeps to know that I have a deep love, hate relationship with his work. 

 I wasn't standing in my room with my hand on my chin contemplating devious deception seeing who I will piss off today with my poster. 

 And to have the audacity to call me a troll, I live in a house not a cave, also my mother has always said that I was the sunsets twin.
