Is The Calamity ending "bad"? And why? (NO SPOILERS PLS)
Stranker replied to AlexLas95's topic in The Reckoners
People think the ending to Calamity is bad? I loved the ending to Calamity. Maybe a little rushed, but still very enjoyable. I was satisfied with it. Yes, it left some things open, but that's not a bad thing. It just means there's things for the sequel to explore. And this is only the world that I'm talking about. the characters' arcs all end nicely. I liked The Reckoners more than some of Sanderson's Cosmere works, so it's definitely worth checking out. -

This is just something I was wondering. No one knows what the Beyond is like, not even Harmony. I feel like it has more importance to it than just being an afterlife. Maybe someone in the Beyond will eventually need to affect something in the physical realm? What do you guys think?

I think it would be cool to see a combination of soulcasting and stamps. I wonder how much an expert Forger could change if they could soulcast.

Short version: The Cosmere is the universe where most of Sanderson's novels take place. EDIT: I've been informed my post has some spoilers to it. To my knowledge, the only place with this information clearly given to far is Misborn: Secret History. So if you plan on reading that, I would do that first. I highly recommend the Mistborn books. They are what got me into the Cosmere. Here's a spoiler tag. While it is cool to find connections in the cosmere, you can enjoy seperate series without worrying about the cosmere too much. However, if you read Warbreaker, some things in WoR will be a lot cooler. I recommend reading the Mistborn books after that.

There's your problem. You are acting like everyone else's opinion is wrong. Sanderson's other series have tons of fans, and you are basically saying that Sanderson should only work on what you want, and anyone who isn't happy with that is "butt hurt." -

I actually think that adding your own swear words helps with culture building in a novel. Maybe that's just me, but I feel like it helps engage me in the world more. -

For me it would be The Way of Kings. It's not just my favorite Sanderson novel, but my favorite novel in general.

So in The Emperor's Soul, Shai is betrayed by "The Imperial Fool". Bradon Sanderson has said that the fool is Hoid. But then that makes me wonder why he stole the moon scepter. It seems that everything Hoid does has some purpose behind it, so what do you guys think Hoid's reasoning was for stealing it? Also, does anyone else feel bad for Shai? Who knows how much time she' going to waste trying to track down a world hopper (although it would be interesting if she became a member of The Seventeenth Shard and began worldhopping in search of him. I know how unlikely that is, but it would still be neat).

@Aliroz-The-Confused It's not out in physical form, but there's an ebook for $5.

Hello, 17th shard. I am Stranker. My friend recommended Mistborn to me 11 months ago. At the time, I had no inspiration for reading. I liked reading, but I didn't think of it as a priority. So I put off Mistborn.....for 7 months. In my defense, from September until the start of February, I was pretty busy. However, I finally picked up Mistborn in February, expecting it to be a book I would just read during my lunches that months. Yeah....I ended up staying up until 4 AM reading it. Then I spent all of my free time for the next two weeks reading the other books. Needless to say, I loved the Mistborn books. I wanted to read more Sanderson after that. I was convinced to read Dune first, but I couldn't get into it, and I ended up dropping the novel. Then, I read the Wax & Wayne novels along with Secret History and Stormlight 1 in April. The Way of Kings ended up replacing Mistborn as my favorite novel, so I instantly dove into the second novel, which I read in a weekend. Since then, I have read Warbreaker, Elantris, The Emperor's Soul, and in two days I plan on reading Perfect State. So yeah, I think I'm a little obsessed with Sanderson novels. In fact, I liked reading so much, that I have begun writing my own fantasy novel. So far, I have had a ton of fun writing it. I'm trying not to take too much from Sanderson (maybe I should have read novels from other authors in between Sanderson novels), but the inspiration definitely shows. My chapter length is something I need to fix, but for now I am writing what I am comfortable with. Hopefully, I'll get good enough to get a novel published! So I love the lore in the cosmere, especially with the mystery around Hoid. I joined 17th shard to discuss my thoughts with other Sanderson fans (for a while I've been doing that on reddit). So, is there anything not obvious that I should know about this site? Thanks!
