dayman
I know the short story popped up but he's been stuck at 50% for a while now...I guess I'm just spoiled because I'm used to seeing things reliably go up but I'm just wondering if he's said something about it or if anything is known. quadbox
Well the bargraphs arent up to date for a start, and he's said that the novella (the Lift story) is now finished. So one presumes he spent a bit of time writing that, and hasnt updated either bar.
Eki
It shows as 52% for me.
Quiver he/him
It shows as 52% for me. DC Rebirth spoilers Curse you Doctor Manhattan! ...but yeah, I'm guessing Lift was a distraction, and the progression should start going up again.
maxal she/her
It does look like he is having trouble as his progress bar indicates he has not written much in the last 5 months or so. At this pace, the book probably won't be out until 2018 I have no idea why SA3 seems to be stuck: maybe he has an issue with part of the story and he needed time to think about it. I can't tell for sure, but I certainly hope he isn't purposefully postponing the SA3 release for the Lift novella...
Ward
Hopefully he just hasn't updated the website in a while. I guess it's a double-edged sword being so open with your fandom. Can you imagine if Rothfuss used progress bars? People would constantly be poking him.

Ward
Oh they do, but if they could actually know how slowly he's writing instead of only suspecting, he'd never show his face at PAX again. We know Brandon's incredible work ethic, but every time I see Patrick in public I think, "Shouldn't you be elsewhere? Writing something?"
The Honey Badger he/him
Hey, I wouldn't push it past Brandon to be working on a secret project right now. I mean, I want SA3 more than anything, but consider the option of secret projects. Which would be super cool, in my opinion.
Mestiv he/him
If I remember correctly in past few months the bar for SA3 moved by a couple % points. I don't think there's anything to worry about, the progress bars aren't updated on any regular schedule. It probably will go up by 2% or something like that next time it moves. Eki
Yeah, considering the novella is done, but the counter is still on 60%, I think it's fair to say it's not updated very often. (Unless the counter is for the whole process, including editing and all that) I don't think it's fair to compare Brandon and Patrick like that though. They're very different people, and work differently. Patrick works much more slowly, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's slacking off. He might even be the kind of person who needs to do lots of other things in order to stay productive. Also, I'm pretty sure he's had the whole book written down for years, but he's just doing lots and lots of revisions. His counter would be very odd

His counter would be very odd I haven't checked the bars in a while but they at least used to get seperate bars for different drafts, editing and the like. True, there also ought to be a lot of work and revisions that go into his prose.
Glamdring804
I think it's best to interpret the apparent lack of progress as a sign of Brandon being too busy writing to update. Edited May 31, 2016 by Glamdring804
Orlion Blight he/him
I think the bar usually gets updated by Peter, and is based on current word count and some arbitrary word count (like, say, the word count of Way of Kings first draft). So he could be further, he could be less, Peter might not have access to the current word count. I'm not too worried because progress is made and Brandon has not said anything about other obligations making writing difficult (like when the progress bar was stuck around thirty percent for a while). Young Bard he/him
IIRC, the counter for Stormlight books are automatically set to a target of 400,000 words (WoK ended up - post revision - slightly under that while WoR ended up slightly over). And, revisions are counted separately. Brandon has said he usually speeds up writing towards the end anyway. I think he said on the final day of writing WoR, he wrote something like 10,000 words, which is about 2.5% of the counter on it's own. I'm not significantly concerned. DrakeMarshall he/him
It is quite possible that he is working on something else... But honestly these things happen. In writing, sometimes you randomly switch over to working on something that catches your mind, even when you had decided to work on something else. I suppose I would rather Brandon make progress on the next SA book when he is really feeling inspired to do so. Even if I would love to see oathbringer coming out soon. For that matter I also look forward to Rothfuss's third book.
