Kaymyth she/her Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Oh, man, this birthday cake that my coworker made has layers of chocolate chip cookie dough in it. This is SO RICH I can't keep eating it, but SO GOOD I can't bear to stop. 3

An open access internet journal is rarely a trusted publication I also suspect those same irritating number of people would not accept the argument because they have a study that proves their position, so surely science is on their side! It's somewhat of a bother, since everyone seems to do it. It's easier (and less expensive!) and seems to legitimize one's position.

I once, no joke, had a guy link me to a Wikipedia article, and then get offended when I said Wikipedia wasn't a reliable source. And, yes. Trouble is, you can find an article proving just about every opinion out there. It all depends on how you manipulate the evidence.

I'm reading a book on water rights in the fifty states right now and I cringe every time the author quotes Wikipedia.

Public interest in such esoteric topics as water rights in the fifty states are such that he could get away with it. It also seems that the bibliography philosophy is to mostly only quote things that can be found online (I.e. There are lots of citations from state websites). It's also cited incorrectly. There's a reason you include the time the page was accessed for the quote, darn those socks! Also, the Publisher is this small group that is interested in such, so their editorial...qualities...will be somewhat lacking. Edited August 24, 2016 by Orlion Determined

Mine's 11: Quote Jessica and Lila figure out that Liz is in danger—first because they’re told by a Ouija board they’ve been using to trick Liz into thinking Bruce has a terminal illness is triggered by Jessica’s twin ESP, and second after Donald’s sister comes to the Wakefield house to tell them Liz is in danger. They call the police, then head to the football stadium. XD

Clearly, SVH has won, and this site needs to start getting some rebranding. 1

We open with a chapter where Alice Wakefield's former classmate, who is now a werewolf, tries to steal her face. Jessica is too distracted by her vampire boyfriend to notice. 1
Doc12 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Spoiler Basically Kal's theme for the whole of Way of Kings. Give it a listen? What I imagine as the song plays. Betrayed, beaten, suffering. Shouting as the slaver kills the ill slave. Running in the bridge runs, screaming as his friends die around him. Falling on teh ground, too exhausted to rise. Screaming for them to hurt him instead. His own crew hurling insults at him. Standing by the Honor Chasm as rain mingles with tears. Rising, standing, training his crew, falling back. Tossing in the highstorm, crying out as he is slammed against the walls. RIsing. Standing. Refusing to fall. Standing, glaring at the forces holding him down, saying he would not let them win. Talking to his crew. HIs crew saluting him. Him on the plains that day, as the battle rages on, struggling with himself. Rising, shouting, leaping across the chasm, bursting into Light. Radiant. Heroic, a man who had fought mighty odds and conquered, a man who had Risen above. 4
Doc12 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Yknow, if Rise Above was the beginning of Kal's arc, his arc will be capped off by "Men of Honor" Spoiler Imagine. The final battle in the final book. Voidbringers assembling. Odium laughing. An army, a sea, of black forms, red eyes, and flashing red lightning. Against them, tiny specks of light. The Radiants, in Shardplate, talking to their spren, preparing. Their faces show their knowledge that they may not survive. Kaladin alone, talking quietly to Syl. He is bruised, tired. His Shardplate is scored from a hundred battles, and his face has more scars than before. Yet he stands firmer, more peaceful than when he had first started. He has come to terms with himself, and he is at peace. No regrets. They charge In the battle, he gives his everything. He withholds nothing. Syl and he, closer to each other than any other being in the world, knowing each other perfectly, destroying Voidbringers left and right. Leading the Windrunners into battle, they crash into the Voidbringers. And he does give his everything. He might go out in an enormous blaze of glory, fighting Odium's Champion himself. He might step in front of a fatal blade, protecting Adolin or Shallan or even Lift. He might lead a doomed charge to break a path open for the other orders. He might not even die. But you know he will give everything he possesses. You know that he is honorable. Because he would accept nothing less from himself. And when the Battle ends, as the music quiets down. Kaladin, walking quietly home, the sun at his back. Heaven or Hearthstone, does it matter? He has fought honorably. He has done his absolute best, and he is fully at peace with himself. He is smiling. Syl flits around him, laughing with sheer joy. And Honor speaks. Well done. 5

A few months ago, a three-year-old boy fell into the enclosure and Harambe grabbed him; a zoo worker feared for the boy's life and shot Harambe. 1 minute ago, Orlion Determined said: I haven't really noticed this obsession. My friends don't really indulge in it, so my Facebook page for instance has been Harambe-free. But on more joke-and-meme-oriented sites, there'll be a good number of Harambe memes. And if someone says "Enough with Harambe, stop trolling the zoo and the parents" someone will pipe up with something about how if the kid wasn't an idiot and the parents weren't neglectful, the stupid gorilla would still be alive. Makes me feel for the kid who's going to grow up one day and will probably encounter at least some of the stuff currently going around.
