Official plot lines aside, I would totally watch that. Throw in Vision and Thor and have them argue about pop culture while trying to understand it, with Tony and Natasha in the background trying to work rolling their eyes continuously.

What's a McGuffin?

Hydra!Cap sucks but I do have to agree that if Bucky saved Cap as Quiver suggested, that could be seriously emotional.

Can we have a Bucky/Black Widow movie, maybe throw in Mockingbird and have them all hang out in Russia? Or a movie each. That would be wonderful too.

Does that mean we get a Wakanda movie night? Like "The night the soul of our ancestors beat up the devil" or "The Rampage of the Prowlers"?

An object that drives the plot, not because it does something useful but because everyone wants it.

STEVE: So, this Harry kid. He's a boy wizard…and that's how he survived this Voldemort guy?
THOR: Nay. For other wizards had faced this man and perished.
STEVE: So how'd he survive?
NATASHA: His mother's love, jeez.
STEVE: You're kidding.
VISION: Love is merely an emotion that all of human history has failed to satisfactorily define. An emotion provides no protection from deadly force.
NATASHA: We're talking about magic here.
THOR: I am familiar with the ways of magic. This is no magic with which I am familiar; indeed, it breaks the laws of magic itself.
STEVE: It really doesn't make any sense.
TONY: Can't you just relax and enjoy the story?
VISION: If a story is rather improbable, enjoyment becomes difficult.
NATASHA: Told you Harry Potter was a bad idea.

Every time there's a briefcase full of money or in Civil War

You want wikipedia or are you ready to dive into TVTropes?
The briefcase in Pulp Fiction is a good example, as it's only role is to be important for Julies and Vince. In heist stories, the Mac Guffin is the object being stolen - it doesn't matter what that is. If it's interchangeable, it's Mac Guffin.
Horcruxes are not Mac Guffins, since they're actually important.

Obviously, I have not been reading the conversation about Civil War, but I really liked that list of popculture to catch up to Steve had in the Winter Soldier.

Tony: For Storm's sake can't you just relax and watch the story?
Steve: Language!

...Huh. That might make a fun cap (heh) to the Bucky-Steve storyline, actually. Bucky saving Cap the way Cap did him.

"You didn't give up on me, Steve," kind of moment.

Spoiler

At that point, Steve and Bucky should just get a room and make out.

XD

I was thinking of making a music video of Stucky to What You Wanted......should I?

The only Steve ship I'm actively not shipping is Sharon Carter. and it has to be the canon one. uggghhhh.

(actually the only other ships I know are Peggy and Stucky so....)

@Delightful, one song that I think fits the Steve/Bucky ship well is "Down" by Anberlin.

I've already started :P. I'll have to listen to that at some point though.

Surely Natasha/Steve is a thing after Winter Soldier?

But yeah. Sharon is so poorly done in the movies; it feels like a really forced way to give Steve a romantic interest, and it just doesn't work.

Actually, do any of the pairings in the Movieverse work? I thought Thor wasn't put together right. But I liked Jane...though it sounds like Natalie Portman is uninterested in comibg back. Pepper Potts?

Posted (edited)

Natasha.....is someone who I think gets shipped because she's a woman. I mean, she's a spy. She doesn't trust people. Yes she has friends, most of the time, but I really don't see her trusting anyone enough to get romantically involved. And the banner thing never happened as far as I'm concerned. I really see her as Steve's friend, no more no less.

Sharon is just...

Peggy's dead! How sad! Lets kiss her niece!

no no no no no

Tony/Pepper isn't bad. Jane Foster felt super forced to me because like Thor shows up for a weekend and she spends, what was it two years waiting for him to come back? she knew him for two days. seriously. Thor and Lady Sif I might support, not that that's canon.

And I didn't like Ant Man/Wasp in the movie though I know in the comics they're a thing, she felt too much like the Required Trophy Romance for him, I just got annoyance from her to him not chemistry.

Peggy/Steve works great. So there's that.

And Hawkeye.....I guess works?? If that counts?

and then theres Wanda/Vision which......could work. Is yet to be seen I think.

I...kind of liked Natasha/Banner, simply because it was

so random.

Funny you mention Ant Man/Wasp though. Yeah, those two are one of comics biggest couples...but not Scott Lang.

See, the Ant Man/Wasp relatiinship is Hank and Janet...but it has a lot of...baggage in the Marvel Universe. Stuff which, definitely, I can see them wanting to avoid in the films.

Hank has had a long history of mental illness in the books. Exactly what kind of illness has never realky been specified, but among everything else, he's behaved erratically, had frequent identity crisis (bordering on multiple personalities) and he once backhanded his wife.

That last one, in particular, has haunted and defined the character for decades. To the point that other comics have basically flanderised Hank as a woman beater. I mean... I won't defend it. But I think the faxt that Hank was having a full scale nervous breakdown needs to be taken into consideration.

(For the record... Janet got married to Hank while he was having a personaloty crisis and believed he was a superhero named Yellowjacket who had killed Hank Pym. She knew the truth, but figured "Hey, nirmal!Hank's not gonna propose, might as well get hitched now." The 70's was full of... questionable content like that.

Seriously. All the above is nothing.  Avengers #200 is one of the disgusting comics I've ever seen.)

Anyway, point is... Using Scott Lang let's them having the Ant Man/Waso dynamic without any of the messiness involved in the pairing. It's probably the best solution there was.

quiver, yikes that is pretty messy. I don't have an issue with the relationship per se I just didn't find it particularly believable as they presented it in the movie. So. Hopefully they'll do a better job in Ant Man And The Wasp?

She does now! Sort of. She's been introduced as the All New Wasp, though she isn't related to Janet; she's the daughter of Hank's first wife. She died waaay back -like, the 60's?- but it was recently revealed that she was secretly pregnant.

I think Hope might have been abducted and raised as part of the Red Room project, the same Russian project that Natasha went through, but I might be wrong on that point. Point is, through the magic of movie synergy, Hope now exists!

(If you're curious, Janet is still alive. She was turned evil by the Red Skull, then un-evilled, then her still-evil mutant boyfriend Havok shrunk her down, put her in his pocket and ran away.

Then she showed up again and no one is talking about what Havok did. At all. Because that plot point was dumb, and talking about ehat Havok did wastes page time when we could be talking about WHAT CYCLOPS DID without actually tellibg us what he did...)

i would be very happy if Hope is Black widow-ish.

.....I'm biased. Black Widow is my hands down favourite avenger.

Well going biblically menstruation was a punishment for eating from the Tree of Knowledge....but I aint gonna argue about how inconvenient and irritating the whole thing is.

But but....we've been to space. We have pictures of the earth being, y'know not flat. How?

Regarding climate change:  go read Monday's XKCD. :)

Regarding mensturation:  Yeah, upping G-D from "idiot" to "vengeful chull-head" really isn't gonna sell it for me.  I do not subscribe to the "god is a jerk" theory of the universe.

Regarding space:  Die-hard flat earthers claim that it's all a big conspiracy from NASA to get money.  Because, you know, NASA is just rolling in it.

That is what I actually believe. Even if there are what some of you would call gods their opinions on morality and all that is only vaguely more 'right' than mine, or yours.

And if there is a meaning to life we would all be slaves to that meaning, that is a greater horror story than any I could ever write.

See, the brilliance of this is that it's only nihilistic on the surface.  But once you dig down below that, accepting that the universe has no inherent meaning, then suddenly every action you take becomes the whole of your influence on the universe.  If nothing you do matters in a grand macrocosmic scheme, then the effect you have on other people becomes the greatest possible thing you can do.

Typical Quiver.  Entertaining us with comic book cliffs notes, imparting knowledge onto us unworthy beings, and then apologizing for it.

Don't ask questions! I mean, Bendis only had exclusive use of Havok for months before Secret Wars, you expect him to wrap up every plot point?

(Or...any plot points. Wrapping up any plots would also have been good.)

Honestly, no idea. Janet also had a daughter with Havok who has been abducted by Kang the Conqueror, but that hasn't been mentioned since either.

See,Marvel's last event, Secret War, kind of...broke everything. Literally, the entite multiverse died. ReedRichards of the Fantastic Four fixed it, then Marvel jumped ahead 8 months in universe. So, presumably, during that 8 month gap, stuff happened and DON'T ASK QUESTIONS. So... Janet is full size now, I guess.

(Also Miles Morales is now 616, Peter Parker is Tony Stark and Wolverine is a girl, and she is awesome.)

If yiu like Black Widow, I'd check out her current ongoing series, by Mark Waid. I haven't read it yet but I hear phenomenal things about it.

And Daredevil is a attorney now and has a sidekick who is an immigrant and has a much cooler costume now.
