I started out following just two pug pages on Facebook. Just two.

Then one of them recommended one of their friends' pages. So I followed that one too.

And then Facebook started recommending pug pages.

I didn't follow all of them.

But I did follow some.

And now a pug page that I followed after being recommended by a different pug page has gotten me to follow yet another pug page.

Guys.

My newsfeed is like 75% pugs.

I think I have a problem.

It's a response that translates "DON'T YOU DARE RESTRICT ME FROM SEEING WHAT KARLO KING OF PUG IS UP TO."

Karol? I'm sure he's a very regal animal.

Are any other Aussies up at 1:30 am looking at the election results? Or am I the only Australian politics nerd on the forum?

NO.

I hear a plea for help shrouded in aggressiveness. We must stage an intervention!

Most exciting moment in political coverage tonight:

Barnaby Joyce (?) is a talking head on screen and my brother goes "hey isn't that the guy who threatened to kill Johnny Depp's dogs?"

also

"Bill Shorten will be arriving shortly"

lol.

Yep. That was hilarious. "He'll be along any minute now..."

And then Turnbull did the exact same thing. They're taking tips from each other...

@The Only Joe: I heard about some of the more….fantastic plot points. Having already planned on jettisoning it from my personal canon, I actually set out in search of spoilers to see if I was justified. Let's just say that while I think there could be some things I'd enjoy, I feel perfectly comfortable with considering it a "what if" story and sticking to the original series as the only canon.

Because seriously? A lot of the plot points Tumblr users complained about were plot points that I saw eight years ago….on Fanfiction.net. And those fanfic writers actually made them seem more plausible than they sound in the play.

Eh, #1amhumour. I was laughing at a lot of weird things too.

The ABC commentary ended at 12:46. They realized the previous ABC election talk record was 12:45, and they wanted to beat it. So, one of the final words of the transmission was "Suck it, Kerry O'Brien." Because this was nearly one in the morning, I cracked up. This will be forever imprinted in my head.

By the way, for those Americans who might be wondering how the election went, the answer is... we don't know. It's too close to call, and they've stopped counting ballots until Tuesday.

Is everyone going to die of suspense this weekend then?

Well, I am (actually, I exaggerated slightly. Most likely, the Liberal party - the equivalent of the Republicans in America - are probably going to get it, it's just a question of whether they do it in majority or minority government). Sadly, there's one of the highest levels of political disengagement... ever in Australia, which is sad. I honestly don't know why, but it seems to be part of a global trend.

Yeah, seems like the same thing is happening in America, at least if you judge political engagement by voter turnout. If you judge it by the vitriol of political arguments on the Internet, on the other hand, America is VERY politically engaged.
