I'm excited, but not overly so. I'm not going to claim to be the biggest fan of the character, but he has always interested me. I'm looking forward to seeing the mystical side of the MCU, and this definitely promises some of that. The visuals look nice, and Benedict Cumberbatch seems perfect for the role.

The only thing that concerns me is that this is likely an origin story. I get the need for one for Doctor Strange, who isn't as well known as Cap or Iron Man, but still, it does warrant caution. I'm interested in his powers, but I don't want him to spend the entire movie training, and off of this trailer alone it looks like that's what he'll be doing. But I will definitely be going to see this, but I'm trying to not get my expectations to high.

I'm super hyped. I loved the animated Dr Strange film that was released a couple years ago, and I can't wait to see Benedict kick some mystical butt.

I like that this seems to me much less of a comedy than the majority of Marvels films of late, I like a more serious tone.

I do agree that it would be really good if this was only partly an origin story film.

Filming wrapped on this 10 days ago, so it's kind of crazy that they already have a trailer. Hopefully, the origin stuff is handled they way they did Daredevil's origin. A Hydra agent name-dropped Stephen Strange in The Winter Soldier as a threat for them to target, so he should already be established.

He was actually mentioned in Winter Soldier twice, interestingly enough. Once by the HYDRA agent, and once on the algorithm's computer display when it booted up and searched for targets.

I am super uber excited for this movie! I think Benedict Cumberbatch is the perfect casting choice and I looooove what I've seen of his costume in photos from the set. My experience with Doctor Strange in the comics is mostly limited to his interactions with other NYC superheroes in their own comics, but he seems like he has a lot of potential to be a very interesting character--especially since Mr. Cumberbatch has proven that he is a very versatile and talented actor.

Doctor Strange, one of my favorite characters, and Cumberbatch, one of my favorite actors?
Give me ALLL the tickets to this plz.

I don't know much about Dr Strange except that he deals in magic rather than scientifically explained superpowers (however loosely those have been explained sometimes).  I'm excited, though, beyond the fact that Cucumberpatch is a great actor, since it'll be a very different type of superhero movie, I imagine.  Should be cool to see how it ties into the others as well.

Looks cool. If anyone goes into theater on acid though I fully expect their brains to melt...esp if they see it in 3D.

Even us people who used to do acid in our checkered pasts may have some interesting experiences. Not sure if that worries or excites me.

Well, in an interview at some point, Benedict Cumberbatch did say that the movie will have some "pretty weird crem" in it. (I'm paraphrasing here.)

I think the problem for me is I'm pretty burnt out on both origin stories and villains who are dark reflections of the hero in Marvel movies.

I'd settle for having a villain as opposed to a mere obstacle.

You'd be surprised, sometimes obstacles can be pretty good villains.

I once fought the Pacific Ocean for a week straight.

It won. :(

...am I the only one who think his American accent sounds weird?

I mean... I'm not complaining about the trailer. But maybe I'm too used to him from Sherlock, because he just sounds so weird.

Don't you mean he sounds Strange? ;)

I get weirded out whenever I hear British actors putting on an American accent. Not because they're doing it badly, but just because I'm so used to hearing their voice with the British speech patterns. Similarly, after watching Stargate: Atlantis for years, I am always surprised to hear Paul McGillion talking with his natural American accent after watching him play Carson Beckett, a Scottish character, for so long.

Same the other way for me with Samantha Carter from SG-1 (Amanda Tapping). I started watching Sanctuary after that, and she uses her native Canadian/English accent, and it was oddly weird and natural at the same time.
