emailanimal he/him Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Could Hoid be a possessor of Original Feruchemy? Could Hoid be one of the original creators of Feruchemy and Terris itself? The power of Freuchemy is the combined power of Ruin and Preservation. It is a fair question to Brandon about the reasons why this power was granted to only one group of people (aka - who were the Terris of old and why only they had Freuchemy). But this makes Hoid being the originator of Freuchemy unlikely
IndigoAjah he/him Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Although, Hoid has some link with the people of Terris - it seems he founded the Worldsingers on Roshar and there's a WOB saying their similarity to the Worldbringers of Terris is not coincidental. and the Worldbringers are specifically Feruchemists

Perhaps Investiture on Yolen was different for different people/nations/races - that sDNA is a racial remnant from Yolen - we may see examples of Feruchemy, alongside Lightcasting and Aon based magics - who knows!
Knotai Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I don't think it's feasible that Hoid has swallowed the bead of Lerasium. He stole it three hundred years prior and is most likely keeping it for someone in the future; putting it in his mouth could have been a red herring to fans. That said, with Iyatil being a descendant of the South Scadrians, it would not surprise me if there were several Allomantic capacitors lying around Roshar somewhere.
FlailingMunchies he/him Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 First off Wow! so many replies! amazing! haha. I did not know this would be popular. But one thing i keep seeing is that Hoid got the bead of Lerasium several centuries ago. But Since Scadrial and Roshar are different worlds would they not have different orbits. so a several centuries could be a couple years for Roshar. just a thought I don't know. I am still working on my theories they are just fun.I have not fully read everyones Comments and discussions. but i don't have much time to read everything so if this has been talked about already ignore this. Also i forgot to mention i am new here haha. and fairly new to Brandon Sandersons Books. i am caught up with the Stormlight, Mistborn trilogy and working on the books afterwords (I am on Bands of Mourning), and Warbreaker books and currently reading Elantris. so i am still a newbie haha. so if i seem kinda like i don't know much of stuff that is why. haha But I really want to know what you guys are talking about here so tomorrow when i have time i will be reading your guys' posts! cant wait!
natc Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 There's a limit to how different an orbit can be before it's simply too hot or cold for life. And Roshar days are apparently 20 Earth hours long, so a 500 day year isn't that long at all. Then again Roshar's actual orbital length is completely unknown since the calendar is based on Weeping dates. But that's how Roshar years are counted in-world so we'll work with it anyway.
