Could someone walk me through how to get a siggy to show on my posts? I can't find the option anywhere.

ETA: Never mind, I found it. Heh.

Also...edits. Track Changes on Word makes them surprisingly easy. I'm a little blow away by how straight forward it all is. Also, I suck at comma usage. Also, apparently you should always spell out 'okay'. Also also, I tend to construct unnecessarily long winded sentences that I think are beautiful but are impossible for people to read. I belong in the 1800s.

Hahaha.  Wooo edits!  Go kaisa!

@Mandamon, I just read your post on Mary Robinette Kowal's blog.  It was great!  The stories sound awesome.  I also hope you'll share some pictures of your pets dressed in costumes.

Sorry--just saw the posts!  Thanks for putting it up, Vreeah!

Here's one of my favorite Christmas cards: Pride and Prejudice and Pet hair.

@Mandamon it refuses to load on my mac, but loads on my iPhone. No idea.

I second @Hobbit's question. How did you get your animals to sit still for long enough to take that photo!?!

It must be some kind of conditioning involving food. That certainly works on me.

I notice with the cats at least that all their eyes are pointed in the same direction... so that seems like food or a dangly string or something like that to me, hehe

Heh--everyone asks that.  There was lots of dangly string involved, but the real secret is taking a LOT of pictures. Eventually you get one where they're all sitting there peacefully and not humping or biting each other or running out of their costumes.

Okay folks, I'm going to have to bow out of critiquing for a couple weeks at least.  The WXR retreat cruise is coming up, and I'll be doing some critiquing for them.  I'll try to keep an eye on the forums though.

"Mandamon? Yeah, I remember him. He used to slum around here with the rest of us hacks* until those highfalutin' Writing Excuses folks turned his head. Heh, now it's all fancy cruise ships and sipping ginger ale from crystal glasses. I heard tell they even have a buffet sometimes, with cucumber sarnwiches an' teapots, an' pinky fingers in the air. It's all that Mary's doin' - with her airs and graces. I guess he might come back to us one day, when they've sucked all the good critiquin' outta him. Ah jeez, he coulda been somebody, he could been a contender..."

(* The word 'hack' is used for dramatic effect only, and is not intended to describe any person living or undead, either now of previously associated with the Reading Excuses forum. The word 'hack' is copyright Michael Bay.)

Kudos, my friend. Will you be using the ABCD(G)s?

Yep, except not the G.  She expressly doesn't want that.

10,000 words into book three! I think I'm getting faster! Not better, mind, just faster.

Could someone tell me if my e-mail to the list serve went through with my attachment? I haven't seen it pop up in my inbox yet, and normally it's instantaneous.

ASD Ch 7, received it without any problems.

Normally, I actually don't get an email back when I send everyone.

@Ernei this thread is perfect for this type of question.

At 15, it would tell a lot about the culture of the world you are building based upon what word you used. Call him a 'boy' and we know that adulthood is considered later in your world. Call him a man, and we might assume that lifespan is a bit shorter and adulthood comes early. I think you could interchange young man and man, but probably not young man with boy. Others might have a different opinion, however.

But what we consider adult varies even amongst Earth cultures. You get to set the tone for your world through your word choice. If people are adults at 16 in your world, then he is a man. He might feel like a boy, and this could come across in his thoughts and actions, but if he is adult age, unless he gives characters a reason to otherwise, they should call him a man and treat him as such (at least initially).
