In one of the Stormlight books, Hoid comments on the name axehound. They don't have dogs, so how do they get the name axehound? Hoid asks this question, but it is never answered. Since it's Hoid talking, I want to think it's important to Roshar.

Well most of the languages probably share similar roots from before the Shattering . . . and many things point to humankind being a non-native species to Roshar anyhow.

Yeah. I don't know if we have an explicit confirmation of this, but I think most of us have been assuming it has something to do with the common roots of most of the Shardworlds' languages. Either that, or at some point Roshar did have dogs, and while it has lost them, the language artifacts remain.

Many shardworld share linguistics. At one point when Siri is teaching Susebron she mentions the letter 'shash'. There is probably stuff like that hidden throught all of the books.

They're probably called Axehounds because they're not exactly gods. (Fantasy naming for fantasy stuff is probably why)

I speculate it's because the Shin seem to be very similar to us, (not sure IF they actually have dogs but) I assume it's named after Shin dogs or 'Hounds'.  Or someshit
