Edgedancer he/him Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 This thread has been open over a week and we still haven't even reached 10 pages yet. Our forum takeover powers are slowing down. True we need more activity. Let's See who's been up for a while... Mail-mi with Reader, Kobold with just about everyone and whoever is up in Astoria with the tower and that Destructor/Blackwave/Dragoon meeting. Anyone else that wants their characters to do something but can't figure out what? 2
Voidus Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Shadows of Self is out: I have one word. MeLaan!!!! Have I mentioned before how much I hate delayed releases in Australia? Seriously considering moving countries just so I don't have to put up with it anymore. The pinnacle was when a movie that was completely made here was released in Australia later than everywhere else. 1

Voidus Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Well that sucks. Could an ebook help? Not unless I acquire it illegally. Because the Australian government is completely stupid and decided that rather than try to fix the public opinion of them being one of the worst governments of all time they'd rather just piss everyone off and make it illegal to try to circumvent geoblocking. 1

Spam their inboxes with pug pictures and use the diversion to allow for an on-time release!
Voidus Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Spam their inboxes with pug pictures and use the diversion to allow for an on-time release! If 1/4th of what I've heard about Australias refugee situation is correct then I get the feeling that they're the kind of people who are more likely to kick a pug than look at it with googly eyes.

Wow. I haven't heard about how Australia is handling the refugee situation, but if it's worse than the US, it must be pretty bad. Do they let citizens petition for a recall election?
Comatose he/him Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 The Cornucopia/Atrophy plotline is fine with me. Next for Corvallis, once Buttercup responds I think I'm going to get Rainmaker to (finally) meet up with Gelliton, after which she retires to get some R & R. After that, it might be time for a quick time jump to sync up with Mestiv's characters, especially since the only ongoing interaction at the moment is GOOD and Kenshin, whose interaction can be a little more time flexible. Nice ones, I only really see one problem, namely that her powers would make Legacy way too unstable to beliveably to actually act as a leader. I could buy her being dragged around by them as a kind of attack dog or ultimately returning to the lifestyle on her own after having some time to gather herself, though. My thought was that Legacy would be the leader who made long term decisions, but that Peregrine (still deciding if I like the name) would take over and do more immediate commands/coordination during missions, when Legacy becomes less stable. Basically Legacy would say, "this is what we are going to do" and then Peregrine figures out how to do it, and coordinates the efforts. I was also thinking of having her intentionally using her own weakness to gain moments of clarity when she gets overwhelmed. I just have to figure out a way for this to work without her becoming redeemed. Since she is using the weakness, but not really facing the fear, I think that it could work, but would appreciate feedback.

Do they let citizens petition for a recall election? Well at one point I think the UN was investigating a refugee camp as a potential violation of the convention against torture. So yeah. Well the Prime Minister just got replaced so hopefully something might change but it's the same party calling the shots so I doubt much will. And the other party isn't much better. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 Coma: I don't think using her weakness on herself would provide any clarity, actually. She'd essentially be triggering herself, which would be more likely to give her a panic attack than anything else. Well the Prime Minister just got replaced so hopefully something might change but it's the same party calling the shots so I doubt much will. And the other party isn't much better. Eek. And over here we're just creating a controversy over how small a number of people we can allow in and get away with it. Sounds...a lot like the US, actually.

That doesn't necessarily preclude clarity, just that that clarity would probably be focused towards getting the hell away from their weakness. Yeah basically the whole governments response to asylum seekers and refugees is to send them back to dangerous warzones or lock them up in inhuman conditions on an island in the pacific. Then claim that it's really what everyone in Australia wants. But seriously we're like the most underpopulated country on earth, we have nearly the same landmass as the us but less than 1/10th the population, I don't think accepting a few people who have been through hell is going to do a lot. Especially when we end up spending more money on drones, patrol boats and camps than we would to just resettle them. Sounds like most places with bipartisan politics I think, the big parties need big campaign funds to compete with eachother so they end up making policies to benefit their funders rather than the actual people they're supposed to represent. I think we should go back to the days when leaders were decided by smashing eachother on the head with a club. We'd still have very annoying politicians but once in a while we'd get to see them get clubbed on the head, something I think we could all enjoy. That or just elect Bruce. Even if he did a terrible job he's cute so he'd get away with it. Twi I demand you get Bruce into politics ASAP! 3

The US is just talking about taking in 10,000 last I heard, when we could take in a lot more. And there are a lot of people here who want to take in as many as possible, but no. Yeah, pretty much. The parties here are so huge that we've never had a serious third party candidate, so when you go to the polls, you're not voting for who you agree with most, but who you disagree with least. Though the club idea has merit. Bruce would instigate mandatory snuggle times, give tax breaks for people who gave a lot of hugs, and create a National Taco Day. 3

Voidus Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 We would have the cutest flag in the universe. The anthem would just be a recitation of a bunch of cute pug names.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 What if the power went to his head, so that at Set times someone might even have to snuggle Nighthound? Nighthound is too scary for snuggles. No snuggles for him.
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Nighthound is too scary for snuggles. No snuggles for him.You hear that Neverthere? That counts especially for you!Oh, Winter I'm probably going to need some Red input soon. Do you have the time again for posts or do you only want to give input on her actions? 2
Voidus Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 What if the power went to his head, so that at Set times someone might even have to snuggle Nighthound? Not a problem, Bruces aura of cute awesomeness would prevent Calamity from ever being a corrupting influence. All Epics have a delightful disposition and instead of having a weakness that terrifies them they just have a thing they have to cuddle every time they see it. 1

Right the Paygug, I forgot about that ancient legend. Not yet. Soon. I'm pretty sure that QF10 is wrapping up. I might ask you to fill in some dialouge then.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 You have a very interesting sister. Indeed. I'm kind of jealous of her sometimes, since she says basically every song she hears is like a light show for her. And she can taste books. (By means other than licking them. ) I had her read the first page or so of Szeth's opening chapter in WoK and she said it tasted metallic. Right the Paygug, I forgot about that ancient legend. The Daypug shall rise and defeat the Star of Wickedness! 1
Mckeedee123 he/him Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 hmm that does sound like more of a fanfic than anything. Still, in my humble opinion I don't see an issue with you writing something like that in this forum that is canon (well as canon as this RP is anyway ) in the setting of this RP. I think a sub-plot within another thread might distract from the action of that thread, and dilute your own tale at the same time. A separate thread within this forum would be best I think. But obviously the actual owners/creators of this RP have the more important say aha A full thread? Hmm... probably not a good idea, unless some other people want to join in, I guess, though that wasn't my original intent in bringing this up. So I might just leave it in FFOO, using a whole lot of double-posts (though the doubleposting is part of what's bugging me.) That's where Ven's thing was going to go, after all. The problem I potentially See with a plotline like that traveling over a large area is that ultimately they'd end up with several cities whose state of affair You'd establish without the RP at large getting influence, which would be okay with one City but really streches it with any more than that. Mostly, I planned to have them avoid population centers for a more "quest-y" sort of journey. They'd be out in the wilderness coming across castles and whatnot, and facing off with apparitions of the Epic who's attacking Eastern Oregon.

Comatose he/him Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Thanks for the feedback! I wasn't sure what all the mental effects of intentionally triggering one's weakness would be. What if using her weakness was reserved for times when she completely loses her sense of self and forgets who she is, in order to shock her back to reality and to herself? Perhaps she shared her weakness with Peregrine so that he would use it in extreme circumstances. The use of the weakness would dampen her powers and bring her back to herself, as well as causing her to panic (which would also remind her of who she is), and then once the weakness was removed, she could proceed in better control of herself? Let me know what you think. Also, I found this video helpful in understanding the refugee crisis, as someone who gets most of their news from social media. It does a good job of breaking things down and explaining the context in a way that is easy to understand. Apparently the EU, Australia, the US and Canada could all be doing a better job. 3
