My friend Adam can make an awesome Velociraptor sound. It is most definitely an awesome superpower, because only he can do it. I always end up choking when I try it. Which is, I guess, the lame version? I can make myself choke on command? Or something.

Hmmm... Well this is a tough one. I'll see what I can do, but I might have to revise this list when I think of more.

  • Key Moment Amnesia is a selective amnesia that occurs at the moment when I need to do something, such as, for example, write this list. It manifests in inability to remember a wide range of things, from those little detaily ones to the big ones that occur daily.
  • Advanced Success Evasion is a skill that enables me to cower from evade any form of success, be it a date with a girl, or a professional success in college or anything that could benefit my overall life.
  • Extensive Calmness is a useful skill of being calm in most situations, such as winning some sort of a prize, losing a year in college or something similar. In case the shock is too positive great to be affected by this skill, the previous skill (Advanced Success Evasion) is usually there to cover for it.
  • Extreme Humour Vision is another useful skill that lets me appreciate humour even in very bad and negative situations, and by the same rule, lets me joke about very serious things. This skill works well alongside the previous skill (Extensive Calmness).
  • Pun to Sarcasm Preference lets me prefer puns to sarcasm. Because, as we all know, sarcasm is the last refugee of a person not clever enough to think of a good pun.

I know they are not as good as most yours are, but they're all I have.....

took me awhile to think of what my lame super power would be. :D Please forgive my terrible spelling today. Can't find the dictionary and spellcheck is mocking me. This thread was too awesome to pass up.

Constant Stream of Conciousness I struggle to shut my brain off. It is almost always running off at the mouth to the point where sometimes it takes me hours to go to sleep. Also I think this is the cause of my other lame super powers.

Comunicational Ditziness You can tell me something and about thirty seconds later its gone and I have already forgotten about it. Also I tend to say things that in my head sounded intelligent or smart and when I open my mouth I find that it was not as great as I thought. Sometimes it leads to some interesting misunderstandings.

Extreme Concentration Sometimes I become so focused on a task or thought i completely ignore everything. This frequently gets me in trouble with my husband and my husband in trouble with me. Especially when he tells me we are doing something and it never registered with my brain and so i think he is bringing it up for the first time.

Limited Super-focus: I can only concentrate on one thing at a time, but when I concentrate, I concentrate. I could probably make fruit juice with it. XD

It usually happens when I'm reading, doing math or some other random thing. I will be sitting in my chair reading and will literally not understand or even hear what someone right next to me is saying. I also tend to focus intensly on math or any test or homework. I will devote all of my attention to it until I get it done. Of course, as good as this is for reading, it means that it is mentally impossible for me to multitask.

Super-restivness: It is hard for me to stay in one place while I wait for something. Unless there I have a comfy chair and reading material, I will pace around a room until I'm done wating. I actually feel more uncomfortable staying in one place than when I pace. I also tend to fidget a lot.

edit: It looks like I have TleeMcCllelan's other powers too.

and here's another one

I'll post it as soon as I can de-activate my Key Momemt Amnesia.

I just remembered some more.

Mid-sentence Infodump

When I am trying to explain something to someone, I will be speaking a sentence, when my brain tells me I left out key bits of information. Then, despite knowing that I could easily say those key bits after I am done with the sentence I am currently speaking, I begin saying those bits. E.X. "So I am on this site called 17th shard. On this site is an RP called the...oh yeah the site is a Brandon Sanderson fansite. The official one now...The RP is called the nexus." In really bad cases, saying those key bits reminds me of more bits, and then I try to say those.

TWo LEtter CAptiolization

When I type on the computer, for some reason I keep capitalizing the first two letters instead of the first letter. Thankfully it only occurs on computers where it is easily fixed.

Word Visualization

Sometimes this one goes away, but occasionally I can visualize a word in my head as a certain shape and coloration, unique to that word.Take the word "with" for example. Visualized, that word looks like a downward curving dash that is light green in color and bends towards the POV in the middle. If I wait long enough and concentrate I can think whole sentences in shapes and colors.

That actually reminds me of a condition where people really do see certain characters, words, or numbers in different colors, etc. It's called Grapheme-Color Synesthesia and it's kind of awesome.

Huh, interesting. It would seem I have the baby super power version of it laugh.gif.

It sounds really really cool. You should draw things the way you "see" them sometime!

I'll try, but my artistic skills are not so good (and I still need to find my scanner).

I'll try, but my artistic skills are not so good (and I still need to find my scanner).

I don't see colors, but I have quite often known myself to organize memorized lists or songs into a physical arrangement in my brain.

Just as an example, when I was little I remember being terrified of having nightmares. So every night, I'd pray not to have nightmares. Somehow, this wasn't enough; I ended up listing off every single potential source of nightmare that I could come up with, be it a movie, a TV show, a book, a particularly frightening imagination, a dream that I may have had before, etc. All specifics, too. As in: "Or that bad dream I had last night, or Jurassic Park, or..."

The result was a dizzying array of columns, dashes, slanting offshoots, and strangely reasoned categories that played through my head every time I ran through it. It got a bit exhausting, really, because the cursed thing was so long. Eventually, I had the entire thing so well visualized that I drew out the shape for my friend. He thought I was insane.

Clearly, my spiritual side was not as in tune as my practical side.

I also have the grand gift of useless memorization. This is somewhat related to the above, but I can literally pull single phrases, word for word, out of movies that I may have last watched years before. Actually, it's quite useful sometimes, because I can trigger memories in other people and we can share a laugh. It's a great substitute for coming up with an actual funny joke, which I'm terrible at.

One more: Sequence Un-Recollection. I would be prepared to swear before a court of law that a certain scene in the movie theater played out differently than it does in the home version. Not big things - small things, like, for example, the particular motions or camera angles associated with Optimus Prime slicing off that Decepticon's head in Transformers. For the longest time, I attributed it to that warning at the beginning of the movie - you know, the "This Film Has Been Modified From It's Original Version". These days, I figure I'm probably just delusional. lol

Interesting, can I see the picture? What you describe reminds me of a timeline someone made for the Doctor Who series. It was...expansive.

Great thread! My amazingly lame superpowers are as follows:

Situational Narcolepsy: Need I say more? ;)

Sweat Powah!: I sweat. A lot. I sit in a chair, I sweat. I ride my bike to class, I sweat. I walk to class, I sweat. I sleep, I sweat. I take a shower, I sweat. Yeah, it's that fun. Though it is, with a stiff breeze, very easy to cool off. (As an interesting note, I have a slightly lower than normal body temperature: high 97s is what I usually read as.)

Joint Fast Expand: At the beginning of a match, my joints like to quickly take the nearest expansion and proceed to macr-oh, wait! Wrong expansion! My joints have a lovely tendency to increase in size, while decreasing my mobility (and they heat up a bit, too!) This grants me the ability to be less flexible and in constant pain, increasing my, um, toughness? Yea, toughness! We'll go with that! :D

Procrastination Fuel: I find it easy to stay awake even if I am tired, which can cause me to stay awake much longer than I intended (or as long as intended: I'm looking at you WoK), but waking up is VERY hard, even with plentiful amounts of sleep (and on a normal sleeping schedule.) I can also force myself to sleep longer. Ex: Say I go to bed at 10 P.M. and wake up for the first time at 8 the next morning (ignoring the usually bathroom break.) If I don't have anything going on, I can force myself to fall back asleep, until I feel like getting up. (Wake up at 8, force self to sleep, wake up at 10, force self to sleep, wake up at noon, force self to sleep, etc.) It gets harder (and the gaps get shorter) the longer I tray to stay asleep. (In the above scenario, it is more likely that I would wake up at 8, 10, 11, 11:45, 12:30, 1, etc. instead of neat 2 hour increments.

[The name for this "power" comes from the ability of being to stay awake all night, if necessary, to finish a project and is combined in horrid, eldritch ways with the goal of procrastination: "Put off what you can do tomorrow, today!" (or tonight in my case)]

Shrubbery: I tend to hedge my answers/responses (and opinions) way too often, so as to avoid confrontation. <insert obligatory Toy Story clip> [hedge] While this is often a good thing, allowing me to see through others' eyes, it also tends to make my own opinions look soft/weak in comparison. [/hedge] Ni!

You knew it was coming.

I too possess the powers of Excessive Patience and the Mid-Sentence Infodump.

I drew a quick picture on Paint, but not sure how to load it up? Do I have to put it on a website or something?

You have some options.

Option 1: you upload it to a image hosting website such as image shack. Get the direct link and post it here. For this you may need an account with image shack.

Option 2: you attach the file as part of your post. You will be able to see this option under full editor.

So apparently my Lame Superhero Weakness is cold. I cannot tolerate it, period. Here's hoping Brandon will release more books during warmer weather...

Hmm? I hope these revelations won't be used by some evil villain someday...

Sleep

I can lay down with the intention of sleeping and be asleep within seconds. I have found the off button within my brain and can simply switch off. When I'm travelling, and not the driver or have a need to entertain the driver, I just sleep. Cars, trains, planes, buses, boats. It doesn't matter. If I want to sleep then I'll sleep.

Soul Sense

It is only on the rarest of occasions that I can be startled by anyone since I mostly know when people are around me. If I have headphones on and someone walks up behind me I know they are there. People, my kids mostly, have tried to sneak up on me, or have hidden around corned to try to scare me, and have failed. I always know they are there.

Memory

This is selective. I usually remember stuff about people, and also about trivia. My memory for people has actually freaked some people out. I'll remember stuff about their family, their phone number and addresses, their birthday's. Years later if they mention a family member in passing I'll usually be able to recall something about them that will just be met with astonishment.

Uncontrolled Super-Hearing

This is one I cannot turn off. Due to my head injury a number of years ago, I lost my ability to filter sounds. So I hear everything around me - I can't NOT hear it. So even in a crowded room, with multiple conversations around me, I can hear a quarter landing on the floor.

Soccer-Ball Targeting

They won't let me play soccer anymore. Everytime I kick the ball for a goal, it would zoom directly at the goalie's head - additionally, the goalie would somehow forget how to dodge out of the way, and be hit with the full impact. I knocked out three goalies during gym class before they asked me to stop attempting goals. After that, the ball would just fly toward a random person's head. Eventually, they asked me to stop kicking the ball altogether.

Super-Sneakiness

I have the ability to make no noise at all when walking up behind people. I'm not trying to be sneaky, but for some reason I am so silent I make people jump when I suddenly speak or they turn to see me.

I have more, but that's enough for now, I think.

This. Many times this. I can't make it work at will, though.

That almost sounds like a challenge. My Grandfather has this, but I got him eventually.

Join the club. :D I can't really control it either, but when it happens I'm practically invisible.

Here it is. lol took me a while... I've been reading Alloy of Law. :)

EDIT: Obviously, numerical order. The location of the number in relation to its line determines the direction you travel over the line... So if the number is on the right, the line "moves" left.

Interesting. Here is my representation of the word "with". The color and perspective is slightly off, but hey, I am not an artist.

EDIT: I'm working on one for the word "Kchan" but names are harder. So far its blue.

I suppose I have a couple.

Inability to Bleed

I have tried to donate blood on a couple of occasions and it always happens the same way. First the doctor will look at my arms, rub them, make a confused face because he can't find any veins, and then call another doctor over so they can both marvel at how weird it is that I don't have any veins. After a few minutes of this, they will decide that "Maybe that might be a little vein, and hey it could work, so let's try that". At which point they stick me, and like two drops of blood come out and then stop in the little tube thing.

There was one time that I had to give blood for a test, so they stuck me three times (twice in one arm, once in the other) then told me to drink like six gallons of water and come back the next day. Even then, they had to use a kid's needle and only got the bag like half full.

Keeping Track of Time

I'm usually able to know what time it is within five or ten minutes. Even when I'm asleep. If I set my alarm for 7:30, I'll wake up at 7:20 and turn the alarm off so it doesn't wake anyone up.

Language Mixing

English is my first language, but when I'm tired or uncomfortable (like too hot or cold) I'll lapse into French. I have a problem switching out of French as well, so after that class I often keep speaking it until someone in my next class points it out. I also dream in French sometimes.

That reminds me. Another one I have.

Adaptability/Super-Immunity

My immune system is ridiculously strong, and I adapt to medication faster than should be possible. I haven't been sick in two years, and the last time I was, it lasted less than a day. Medications rarely work after the first few pills (which is something of a disadvantage) before my body adapts to them. I've been in rooms filled with people coughing and hacking their lungs out, sometimes accidentally on me, and never caught a thing.
