I unfortunately won't be on much tomorrow. I'm driving to Denver when I get off work tonight (7 hour drive) because my GF's Cousin is a Huge Buff's fan and we are going to the CU/CSU Game tomorrow. I might be able to check periodically on my phone, but won't be able to do long posts.

*EDIT* To back up Feligion on Bort - I do find it odd that his Shardplate was destroyed and he is still alive? I don't recall if it was from a lynch or an Eliminator attack and don't have time to hunt that down though. :(

It was an eliminator attack, and quickly after, he went inactive. I'd have to go back and check to see who revealed what does that round - the eliminators could have been distracted by higher priority targets. Or it could have been a WGG. I need to go check, and I don't have time right now

Day 12: All is Shattered

Patch rode into Dalinar’s warcamp by carriage, arriving just after nightfall.  Exhaustionspren flew in the air above him as he reached his destination.  “Thanks,” he told the carriage driver, throwing him a sphere.

“Much has gone on during your absence,” the carriage driver said, shaking his head.  “You were foolish to have stayed away for so long.”

Patch raised an eyebrow at the carriage driver as he hopped off.  I just gave you a decent tip, pal, he thought, glaring at the strange driver.  No need to insult me like that.

The carriage driver went off in a hurry, leaving Patch in the middle of Dalinar’s warcamp, near a row of barracks.  The two weeks he had spent away from the Shattered Plains he had found pleasurable, but the note he’d received from one of his fellow nobles halfway through his escape had convinced him to turn back.  Now he thought himself a coward for abandoning his friends here.

“I was wondering when you’d show up,” someone spoke from behind Patch.  Patch jumped, whirling around to see a cloaked figure.

“What?  Who are--?”

A Shardblade appeared in the figure’s hand, condensation dripping off of the Blade in the nighttime darkness.  The figure wasted no time in advancing on Patch and striking.

Patch instantly recognized the threat and tumbled below the Shardblade, rolling to a halt away from the Shardbearer.  The Shardbearer, clearly not in a mood for such antics, charged towards Patch like a crazed whitespine and slashed at Patch.

Guess I chose a bad day to return, Patch sighed, barely lurching out of the Shardblade, the Blade tearing a hole in his shirt.  Patch stumbled for a second, and dashed towards one of the barracks, hoping that there’d be some soldiers inside to help him.  “HELP!” he shouted, the Shardbearer etching into the barrack’s stone wall.

Patch hung against the wall as the Shardbearer came forth and stabbed at him.  The limp form of Patch collapsed, and the Shardbearer took off before he was spotted.

-----

Mace looked at his glorious giant mace in awe as someone smashed through his window.

“Hands up!” the assassin shouted in a circle of starlight coming from outside, pointing a long dagger towards Mace.  “Your days are over, conspirator!”

“I think not, murderer,” Mace countered, walking into the light and revealing the set of Shardplate he was wearing.

The assassin stifled a laugh.  “There’s supposed to be a highstorm tomorrow, you know.  Your Plate is practically useless.”

“Better than no armor at all, I think,” Mace said with a small smile, raising his mace.  “You are the one who made the mistake, I believe.”

“Nevertheless,” the assassin spoke, “I will stand firm, for you have already slaughtered many.”

You’re the one who came into my home at night to try to attack me!”  Mace shouted angrily.  “Only a conspirator would do that!”

The assassin narrowed their eyes.  “I’m tired of this conversation.”  With that, the two clashed, parrying and striking with their odd combination of weapons.

“You know,” the assassin said, stabbing at Mace’s Plate before sidestepping to avoid his mace, “a mace is a rather cumbersome weapon against an enemy without armor.”

“Oh, of course,” Mace said, swinging his mace towards the assassin’s skull.  “Because I completely expected to be attacked in the middle of the night.  Obviously.”

“You’re wearing Shardplate!” the assassin countered, making a long sweeping attack with the knife, glancing off of the Shardplate’s knee joint.

“I like to be safe,” Mace frowned, flailing the mace about to keep the assassin at bay.  “Is that a problem?”

“No!” the assassin said, though the assassin clearly was having a problem with Mace’s Plate at the moment.  “It just proves my point!  You expected to be attacked!”

“It was a contingency plan,” Mace elaborated, accidentally swinging his mace into a priceless vase and shattering it.  “And I happened to be right.  Is that a problem?”

“Bah, I give up!” the assassin said, striking at the Plate’s chestpiece and shattering it.  “I can’t win an argument and fight at the same time, I’ll admit.”

“Clearly,” Mace groaned, gritting his teeth.  He swung the mace one last time, and it connected with the assassin’s leg.  Mace hefted the mace and ran off, before the assassin could return to their senses.

Excellent. The eliminators could not have chosen a better player to lynch. Why would eliminators lynch Feligon rather than a more consistently active player? He must have been doing something right.

Here's his analysis:

Suspicions:

eliminators: Venture, Macen, Bort, Shallan

villagers: Seonid, Orlok

I'm not saying all his suspicions are correct, but he must have gotten some of them right.

So, which one shall we lynch?

Again the two people voicing suspicion on shallan are attacked.

I am a bright lord who had shard plate. I'm guessing I'm the last bright lord since my vote went through for shallan.

*edit* since I won't be on much tomorrow (if at all) my suspicions are shallan>bort>venture>pk>seonid.

After looking at some stuff I think seonid is probably good but being tricked by people who aren't.

I'm also a brightlord, Macen. I voted for you last night. Either I'm corrupted, or Fel voted for Shallan too

I feel so sorry for you, ghost of Feligon. Have an upvote to heal the pain.

Now begone! Haunt us no more! Now that you have been appeased, you have no reason to stick around.

So, analysis of the kill on Feligon. I see 4 or 5 possibilities here:

1 - They killed him because he was right. I find this less likely in general as an Eliminator tactic, just because it's a giveaway. But it could be part of an I know you know gambit, where they kill him because he was right and count on us to assume that they didn't because it would be stupid to do so.

2 - They killed him because he was wrong, but they wanted us to think he was right. The inverse of 1, in this situation, they kill him because they know it will make us give more weight to his conclusions, and that will lead us down the wrong path. This is possible, except for the numbers don't add up. I was listed as good, so he was right there, which leaves exactly one person listed as good that we might trust because of that. The other 4 on his list he believed were evil, which leaves exactly 3 players left - SilverDragon, Paranoid King, and himself. So the only way this one works is if SilverDragon, Paranoid King, and Orlok are all evil and no one else is. (I am deliberately excluding myself here because I know that I am good. I recognize that other people don't have access to this information until I die.)

3 - They killed him because they thought he was the assassin. This option fails for a number of reasons, not least that he hadn't been on the Shard for a few days at the time that the Assassin started using their ability.

4 - They killed him because they thought that he had a threatening role. A more general form of 3, I still find this unlikely. I strongly suspect that among the villagers, only the assassin remains as a non-brightlord role.

5 - They killed him just to throw us off because they knew it would make no sense.

EDIT: Hit the wrong button and posted prematurely.

My suspicion is either 2 or 5, with possibility of 1 if it's an I know you know gambit.

Also, my analysis of possible evil roles: I would be shocked if they did not have a courier, and I strongly suspect hat they have an artifabrian. If there are three, then the most likely third role is Con Artist. If there are four, then the last one is either a Worldsinger (and is probably SilverDragon, because if there are 4 active eliminators, we've already pretty much lost) or a regular brightlord.

Well, right now I'm being lynched, and I don't think that's a good idea. If I was an Eliminator, there would have been no reason for me to go after Hero after Seonid/Sart(?) backed off. Of course, that turns into an I-know-you-know too, but really, what doesn't? If we don't get the lynch right and the Assassin messes up, then we probably are dead. I think it'd be 4-3 then. Right now we have 10 people, probably 3 Eliminators. If we get rid of an Eliminator, even an inactive, it takes them longer to win. With that in mind, I'll vote for Macen, because he is fixated on me and I don't really see why. In fact, if I am lynched it will all be because of his votes at this point.

Forgot to actually vote: Macen

I asked Ren and he said a corrupted guardsman would show up as an assassin. So, I'm guessing the assassin is a conspirator. The reason for this is that I think they were given a guardsman and all of a sudden we started getting assassinations again.

An extension has been requested!  The Day will now end in just over 25 hours from now.

So, firstly - I called the extension.

It was 2:00am my time, and I wasn't up to putting my thoughts down, and I felt that we needed much, much more discussion before today's lynch - a lynch we simply cannot get wrong.

To have such a crucial lynch decided by a single vote seems entirely wrong to me.

And so, I ought to put down my own analysis.

Shallan appears to be targeted because those who name her as suspects are targeted.

This is indeed evidence of potential eliminatorship, but not conclusive. 1) This could well have occurred to force the village into a lynch to remove an active villager - Shallan has been a driving force behind much discussion, and she also spearheaded the lynch of Hero - who would be very useful for the eliminators, both in his experience and influence over the thread.

Bort: Bort seems to me to be a very high suspect for a WGG. He gets hit, and then, saved by shardplate, ceases contributing to the thread - fading into obscurity - the perfect hiding place.

Not only that, but his 'disappearance' came out of the blue - following activity the previous cycle, and he managed this in such a way as to force role reveals from villagers as well...

Seonid: Seonid has become the trusted player this game - and for some good reason. However, he has led lynch discussion throughout the last few days, and has succeeded in not finding an eliminator. This could be either bad luck, or a similar gambit to that played by Wyrm in QF9. This could provide some clarity to Feligon's death - see Seonid's own analysis #2.

That being said, and whilst we must consider it a possibility, I consider it an unlikely one at best.

Macen: Something has seemed a little off about Macen's recent posts, and I have little concrete evidence for my suspicion of him, except that he has been attacking the players who are 1) almost unanimously thought innocent (Seonid) and 2) led to the lynch of an experienced and trusted eliminator (Shallan). Also, I have a niggling doubt in my mind that his post regarding the assassin earlier might have been intended to draw out those who know or think they know the assassin's identity - this post was only made today, after they attacked Macen - outliving their usefulness to the eliminators?

I'm most certain of Bort's guilt - and so will vote for him - his death should buy us another cycle's worth of information, which at this point should allow us to without a doubt discern whether Shallan or Macen is the eliminator.

Posted (edited)

Orlok, I can see your points and as I listed above bort is #2 on my list. I will retract my vote on shallan and put it on bort.

I will switch it back if we don't have enough votes by lynch time. We can't afford a no lynch.

*edit* I'm on my cellphone driving back from Denver and I hate typing long things on my phone. That's why this post is so short, so I'm putting this in blue so you guys know not to read too much into that.

Thank you Macen!

I understand - provided you are completely certain of Shallan's eliminatorship - and only in that case.

You see, if Shallan isn't and eliminator, we are putting the eliminators one kill closer to victory. I am far more certain of Bort's guilt than Shallan's - there is great potential that an eliminator team, with the benefit of time and numbers as they appear to have, are framing her. This I believe should become clearer after the night cycle. If we lynch Bort successfully, we buy ourselves another round of time, and can afford the loss of a villager to ensure we get tomorrow's correct. Thankfully, we have a significant information advantage over last turn, and can capitalise on this next turn.

Just under 2 hours left!

(Also, Venture Mistborn, you still haven't changed your vote color, if you want that to count.)

Posted

I think that I'm going to vote for Bort as well. It's between him and either Macen or Shallan (I am convinced that one of the two is evil) for me, and the risk/reward return is better on Bort. Although we could always lynch one of either Macen or Shallan and assassin-kill the other...

Posted

I don't know if I should switch to Bort. On the one hand, the WGG would have been perfect in that situation, but on the other, I don't know why exactly they would have done it. I suppose it could have worked, but I thought usually the WGG tried to get a trusted person, not just someone who won't be lynched for a while. But since my vote on Macen is doing no good, and since there could still be a Worldsinger who could get me lynched if they wanted to(and if Ven changed their color), I believe I should.

Night 13: The End of All Days

To the more devout amongst Dalinar’s warcamp, the Stormfather was probably rather upset right now.

Windspren danced in the ferocious wind of the highstorm, and rocks tossed about in the angry torrent.  The rain coated everything with a thin layer of crem, and the sheer amount of rain made visibility outside practically impossible.  It was, it had to be said, one of the most powerful of highstorms.

The stormwardens had predicted a highstorm today, but it was to come late in the evening, after sunset.  However, it hadn’t even been midday by the time the roiling clouds came in on the horizon, and all scrambled for shelter.  Only the foolish would let themselves get caught in a highstorm.

-----

Rengar stood in an alcove outside, the strong wind and rain buffeting against his back.  He’d have to get a new shirt after this, and probably spend several hours inside next to a warm fireplace.  But that was for later.  Justice couldn’t wait.

Rengar sized up the building he was leaning up against.  It was Bortholemew’s house, the site of the man’s ambush roughly a week ago.  Normally, Rengar would think that attack enough evidence to find the man innocent, but the conspirators hadn’t even found the reason to attack him again, after trying to get to him the first time.  And something was off about the man.  He had rarely shown up to the daily meetings, if at all.  There had to be something else that he was up to.

While Rengar no longer had his sword to bash through the window, he did have his fists.  The former executioner stumbled through the window, twisting painfully through the shattered glass to fit his entire enormous body through.  Thankfully, he found a fireplace inside, along with a bearded man sitting down on a wooden chair, staring into space.  Rengar paused.

“Have you finally come?” Bortholemew asked, not even looking at the intruder.  “I was honestly starting to think that you never would.”

Rengar coughed, water droplets dripping off of his utterly soaked garments.  “You are under arrest, servant of Sadeas,” Rengar announced, pointing a shivering finger towards Bortholemew.

Bortholemew finally turned toward Rengar, recognizing the sound of the voice.  “What?  You!”  Bortholemew’s eyebrows creased in anger.  “You cannot kill me, evildoer.”

“I believe that I will prove the contrary,” Rengar spoke haughtily, walking over to the fireplace.  “It is a bit chilly outside, and I would like some extra warmth in here, you know.”

Bortholemew rose from his chair, pointing at Rengar.  “Don’t you dare.”

Rengar picked up a flaming log from the fireplace and hurled it at Bortholemew.  The man screamed, his beard catching on fire.  “My beard, my beard!  My wondrous beard!”  Bortholemew tried to put out the fire, but only accomplished in dropping the flaming log, setting the room’s rug alight.

Bortholemew yelled for help as Rengar stood in front of the window he had broken.  Rengar looked back at the burning man, and suddenly felt something that he’d never felt before.  Was that… guilt?  The burning of Bortholemew suddenly seemed so cruel and evil.

The rain from the highstorm outside splashed against Rengar’s face, and the thought washed away.  Justice is done, he thought proudly, jumping back into the highstorm.

Vote Tally
Bortholemew the Blind (4): Sheon Idris, Mace, Nivina Odict, Orlok
Nivina Odict (1): Night Vote

Bortholemew the Blind was executed!  He was a
Noble Brightlord!

Night 13 has begun!  PMs are now closed, and the turn will end in 23 hours and 45 minutes.  Good luck!

Well... Storms.

I was certain that Bort was guilty.

I'm really sorry guys. I might have just ruined our chances of pulling off a victory...

I'm going to have to reevaluate all my analysis...
