Kobold King he/him Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 While trying to find a screenshot of the Devil!Kronk's reply, I found this instead. 5
Quiver he/him Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Would Batman be a Knight Radiant? I'm not sure if Bruce's reaction to his parents deaths ("become a Bat and terrify everyone") counts as breaking. Everyone points out how stoic and badass Batman is, so... Would that same stoicism preclude him from bonding a spren?

Would that same stoicism preclude him from bonding a spren? Why would it? He's no more surly and unwilling to open up than Kaladin was at the beginning of WoK.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the method of hiding that brokenness matters so much as the brokenness itself.

The question isn't if he would attract a Spren but which Order would want him. Maybe the Stonewards. 1
Quiver he/him Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) I'm wondering if it qualifies as "broken". A lot if stuff about Bruce emphasises that he is NOT vulnerable, emotionally, intellectually or otherwise...but again, that comes from a very specific set of circumstances. Its just a random thought I had; if the Batman already fills the cracks that spren magic needs to take route in Bruce's soul. Edited August 29, 2015 by Quiver

WayneSpren he/him Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 "Skyeelman" just doesn't have the same ring to it. He could be "The Assassin in Black". 3

Being broken isn't about being vulnerable, it's about something in your past having hurt you bad enough to shape you and Batman's life is very much shaped after his parent's murder. Which Order wouldn't want him? He's Batman. Well, the KR are a very puplic organization working in teams and with Squires. His loner attitude may fit the Truthwaters but not his vigilante side. The Stonewards are just my best bet concerning him, given their attributes, you know resources and stuborness sounds a lot like Batsy.
WayneSpren he/him Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) Being broken isn't about being vulnerable, it's about something in your past having hurt you bad enough to shape you and Batman's life is very much shaped after his parent's murder. He did spend years to train himself psychologically. If that involves a whole bunch of Shallan-style "I'll just ignore it", he might still count as broken. Edit: he's not Batsy. He's Batman. (I picked up my monthly comics earlier this week. One of them was Grayson, which was a deconstruction of Dick's character so...got me curious, since the Batfamily is so shaped by tragedy)

I think his fluid, acrobatic fighting style fits the Edgedancers pretty well. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 What about Robin? I think his fluid, acrobatic fighting style fits the Edgedancers pretty well. You mean Nightwing/Dick Grayson? Because there are several Robins. Anyway, their fighting style is a result of their Surges but everyone can pick up a fitting Honorblade and use the Surges, what makes one an Edgedancer is not the fighting style but the personality.
Kobold King he/him Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 What's the difference between Dick Grayson and Lift? One's Robin in tights, and the other's robbin' food. 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 He did spend years to train himself psychologically. If that involves a whole bunch of Shallan-style "I'll just ignore it", he might still count as broken. Edit: he's not Batsy. He's Batman. "Broken" doesn't mean "unable to function," and it doesn't necessarily mean you ignore the things that broke you. Kaladin didn't ignore them; he stewed on them and allowed them to direct his footsteps. WoR spoilers: The same could be said of Dalinar. He wasn't unable to function; to the contrary, he remained involved in Alethi war and politics, maintained regular contact with those he knew, and struck up a romantic relationship with Navani. Yet the thing that broke him still informed every decision he made, or nearly every decision. He did what he did because of Gavilar's death, not in spite of it. 1
+Slowswift Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) So I posted that thumbnail of my updated OC, right? Well, here's a little comic featuring him. I might post a bio at some point as well. Pardon any mistakes; this is my first time using SSCS6000. Edited August 30, 2015 by Slowswift 5
Kaymyth she/her Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 In exploring the neighborhood, we came upon a shop named "Gifts Decor Swords and More". It was late, so it was closed, but this is a magical wonderland which I must investigate at the earliest opportunity. 5
Left he/him Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I'm sad because Rand Al'thor Which part? Also, something random for myself, I had an hour long drive home from a meeting yesterday and had a headache and was getting tired. So I had the girl who had hitched a ride with me to the meeting put in the Beatles 1 album, and I sung along the entire way home. 1
