Kaymyth she/her Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 My feet are cooollllddddd. Also I really want to pre-order the Aeronaut's Windlass and Shadows of Self, but you know, money. I'm trying to save up for a new macbook, but all these new books keep tempting me. Go Linux instead of Mac, save money, buy books.
Allomancy she/her Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Story of my life... Including for this post. You changed your profile picture!!
+Slowswift Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Seriously: Chromebook is ~$200. Mac is $1000. But it's Apple, sooo... Save that money like you would your own soul. 1
Mistrunner Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 You changed your profile picture!! Yep! I'm crazed Ten now. Kind of the exact opposite of what it was before- from color scheme to expression. 1
Allomancy she/her Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Yep! I'm crazed Ten now. Kind of the exact opposite of what it was before- from color scheme to expression. Yeah. I think mine have stayed in the same category
DanTheSeamonster he/him Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I would love to purchase a cheaper computer, but I also don't want one that will crash after two years of use sooooooo. Any suggestions for laptops like that would be greatly appreciated!
+Slowswift Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Welp, I've got the Bassoon Concerto suck in my head.
RippleGylf she/her Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Story of my life... Including for this post. Corrected.
ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Currently lamenting my lack of funds due to saving for travelling, and all i want to do is preorder both a MTG Battle for Zendikar Fat Pack and Booster Box....curse you RNGods for not letting me win the euromillions!!!
Silverblade5 he/him Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Really though, Oregon steals half its place names. In other news, you can thank Slowswift for getting me addicted to MLP. Thanks... I needed that... One of us! One of us! 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) Mom, are you even capable of letting someone finish what they're saying? Of not interrupting them and hijacking their train of thought? Could you please, for the love of Tanavast let others talk without using their words as a springboard for whatever you were planning to say next? If this is something you can do, I would appreciate it if you'd storming do it. Edited September 22, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 4
Mckeedee123 he/him Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Me, in animation: -makes a cup of coffee bc only 5 hours of sleep- Me: -finds creamer- Me: -opens- Creamer can: -is empty- Me: screams -glances at latte mix on counter- -dumps it in- Perfect. Ooooh I don't even want to know what coffee would do to me. Even a can of caffeinated soda keeps me up til three. Two cans will keep me awake and alert for 2 days straight.

So much so that even a few cans of Monster is like a person's early morning coffee just to start the day

I use the "Die and sleep all afternoon when I get home" technique when I havent slept, which is most days. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 She would blow up if you actually told her any of this, wouldnt she? . Yes. Very much so. And somehow, she'd manage to turn it all back on me, making it seem like I was the one who did exactly what I was accusing her of doing. Seriously, I can't talk to her about anything. She recently bullied me into apologizing for doing laundry without being asked, because what she'd really wanted was for me to come help with dinner and I didn't come when she called.

You help, and somehow thats a bad thing because you are helping with the wrong thing... logic is a lie! I really have no idea how to deal with people like that. Logic and reason dont work on them, Never argue with a fool and all that. Good thing you have the shard then so you can vent XD

Good thing you have the shard then so you can vent XD Do what they want, don't ask questions, don't argue, and agree with everything they say. Living with her has actually given me the ability to guess at her reasoning—on that one, I'm pretty sure she was upset because even though I was helping without being asked, I was 1) not doing what she wanted done at that exact moment and 2) blatantly disobeying her by refusing to do what she asked when she asked it. I'm pretty sure it wasn't about helping with dinner so much as deeper issues of control. And I know that sounds ugly, but her parenting philosophy—as she herself has articulated it—is about maintaining control of a child until they turn 18. I'm extremely grateful for the Shard. Ah, acting like that goes against my very DNA XD (Two parents with authority problems, I have them too XD) That didnt make it sound any less ugly XD I was going to read about Rainforests for the Diaemus Project, but I ended up reading up African languages instead... 1

I'm not a fan of it, either, and I'm very excited to move out so I won't have to anymore. I'm just glad I recognize it as their problem now, instead of feeling legitimately guilty whenever I didn't obey the right way or quickly enough. No, I'm sure it didn't. It's not a very pretty philosophy. Both of those sound interesting. 1

It has clicking sounds and sounds so weird, I like it XD I like languages, even if I only speak two. What kind of trouble are you up to? Edited September 22, 2015 by Morzathoth

I know a tiny bit of Spanish, but I'm afraid to speak it because when I've gotten it wrong, it didn't end well. Knitting a scarf, getting ready for bed, wondering what job I should apply to first tomorrow. You? 1

The only spanish I know is "Tengo un cerdo en los pantalones" which translates to "There's a pig in my pants" Dont ask me why I can say that. What happened? Slept all evening after I got home because I had only slept 1 and a half hour so Im just staying up, looking at stuff on the internet, plotting to take over the world, the usual.

I want lots of Sharders to come to WorldCon so that we can have a midwestern meet-up.

That's kind of awesome…. Nothing huge, just small things that scared me away from speaking it for fear of getting things wrong. I worked retail in a city with a lot of customers who spoke primarily Spanish, and we only had a handful of associates who were fluent in Spanish. Most of them worked downstairs and I was upstairs, meaning that if it was expected to be a slow day and management didn't have a Spanish speaker on the floor, I was it. The Spanish-speaking customers were about as patient with me as the English-speakers would've been with a native Spanish speaker whose English was poor. One actual conversation went like this (all in Spanish): Customer: Do you speak Spanish? Me: A little. Customer: *launches into a long, complicated question, barely pausing for air while waving a tennis shoe around* Me: Uh….I don't understand. Customer: death glare We did not have a very gracious or merciful clientele. On Black Friday, I was yelled at by an English speaker because my store didn't carry Elf on the Shelf. I've always wanted to go to a convention, honestly. Cosplay? If so, I'm kind of tempted to go as a sexy Rosharian lighteyes. I'll button up in silk to my chin, but leave my safehand uncovered. 2
