What's a browncoat?

A fan of the show Firefly, a cult hit television show that is crazily beloved by the sci-fi community, but viewership was rather low when actually airing and so it was cancelled after only 14 episodes (US television has 26 episodes per season). A few years later the studio Universal acquired the rights and made a full length movie called Serenity that brought the story of the show to a close (bar a few plot holes).

Cancelling the show, to this day, the second biggest mistake to have ever been made on television (in my mind).

To give a brief description without spoiling anything, the show takes place in a future where humans have colonized space, but the further from the center of commerce you get, the more lawless the planets become. At the far reaches, planet life is very similar to Wild West settings, while near the center features very sci-fi, high tech locales. Mandarin is also more spoken than English, as a fun fact and interesting worldbuilding implications.

Oh, and toy dinosaurs, because everyone loves toy dinos.

I haven't been on this topic for 10 pages or so, and I have no idea what's going on, so...

has anyone else seen the similarities between FiM and Mistborn?

No, really. Go to Quiver's

My Little Pony: Rewatch/Analysis

topic for more information.

In that they both feature immortal demigods who have ruled their planets for centuries, taking power after the defeat of ancient spirits of entropy and ruling from grand cities with way too many spires?

Or that they both feature introverted heroes who see no value in trusting others, until their struggles against powerful villains alongside their allies teaches them that camaraderie is the most powerful magic of all?

Or that both series' central protagonists are extremely talented in the ways of magic, even in worlds where magic is relatively commonplace?

Or that both feature settings where the natural order is radically different from our own, relying on rigid control and constant work to keep even the most basic necessities for survival running?

Or that the people of the settings are divided into different classes, the higher classes possessing powerful magic but existing alongside a lower caste with no obvious magical properties at all?

Have you tried making offerings to the Netflix Spirit?

"You're hired! To be my lunch!" :P

I now want desperately to see someone try this on Iconoplast. Make it happen, What Happened in Corvallis crew. :P

...Well that's one typo I won't be correcting.

The best things can come from typos, like emperor Lightwars, Hoidgaze and Nightsound. :P

Apparently, the Netflix Spirit will only accept a browser upgrade as a sacrifice. It should be ready in….oh, half an hour or so. <_<

Iconoplast, brother of Iconoclast, who is made of plastic! :P

And has a diet mostly based on play-doh. :P

Does that mean when he turns a ghoul, it's Iconoplasty?

It took me forever to figure out what they even meant by "latest Safari update," because whenever I clicked "Upgrade Safari now," it'd take me to a page describing Safari and how awesome it was. <_<think Yosemite has stopped being buggy now, but I don't know.

I should try to get it to work, but I'm too lazy.

Ah yes, my vin painting. I finally came back to it and realized there was no clear light source, but I can't bring myself to scrap it so I'm finishing it and sinking further and further into mediocrity oops

A bit random, but who's the guy in your profile pic, Lark? It's been bugging me a lot.

Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec

The actor (if that's what you mean) is Adam Scott.

I've just watched "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2" and well, I didn't laugh that much in months! The level of absurd and cute in this movie is just unbeliveable :D

"Sentient food? How is that even possible?"

"I don't know. Best if we don't think about it."

I love that movie.
