Human-like robots, or "synthetics," as they're commonly known, have become basically a servant class in near-future Britain. Since they don't feel pain or emotions, they have no rights, yet fulfill many essential jobs. However, there are a handful who do feel emotions and have gained sentience. As in the AI arcs it's similar but it's set basically in our time so no cool Sci Fi/Future Tech stuff going on. It comes on AMC Sunday nights.
