WeiryWriter he/him Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 So I've been seeing these threads for a while and thought about starting one but didn't know if it was a good idea... But what the Braize there's no harm in jumping in! So ask me (almost) anything. 3
Adamir he/him Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 How do you feel when new members confuse you for Feather? 7
Haelbarde he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 How do you feel when new members confuse you for Feather?I've noted that I'd likely get the pair mixed up, and if you asked who wrote all the Shallarin fanfic out of the blue, I'd not be able to tell you who it was. Fortunately (in that it's meant I've not had opportunity to get confused), I've not yet really interacted with either of them. But a question: Is Reckoners Cosmere?
WeiryWriter he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 How do you feel when new members confuse you for Feather? I don't really know because I've never actually seen anyone vocalize being confused by it. So if newbies are confused I'm completely oblivious to it. I don't think it would bother me because she's a pretty awesome person and even I am sometimes surprised by we can be (though I just learned she's not a fan of cheese which is just unnatural as far as I am concerned). But being mistaken for some else is just not something I'm liable to get worked up over? That said I did once have a conversation with a member of the forums who legitimately thought that Feather and I were twins (and that I was female... Neither of which are true). I think we both got a kick out of that. I've noted that I'd likely get the pair mixed up, and if you asked who wrote all the Shallarin fanfic out of the blue, I'd not be able to tell you who it was. Fortunately (in that it's meant I've not had opportunity to get confused), I've not yet really interacted with either of them. But a question: Is Reckoners Cosmere? Heh, I wish I was as good a writer as Feather, but I haven't practiced nearly as much. I should really get on that. As for the question, nope, it is not. Brandon has talked about how he deliberately didn't want to make it so because the mythology he is working with is very much an "our world" thing. Personally though I've never found it particularly cosmere-y? Like Calamity is somewhat Shard-ish but the actual magic system (the Epics) is very much not Realmatically justified? Like Rithmatics is a system that could very easily have been incorporated into the cosmere (he originally planned on doing that) but the Epics are just too random. What should I get you for Christmas? Bad Joe, at least let me forget what you did for my Birthday before trying to trick me into answering that. 2
Joe ST he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Bad Joe, at least let me forget what you did for my Birthday before trying to trick me into answering that. Ahh yeah I probably should wait a little hehehe
WeiryWriter he/him Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Why are you so weiry? It's actually a pun. Back in high school I took a creative writing class and for one of the assignments we had to submit under a pseudonym. It was there I came up with the first iteration of the pseudonym that I currently use for online stuff (E.N. Weir). Couple that with the fact that I'm often tired because I don't sleep well a lot of the time and you get a mash-up of "Weir" and "weary".
Quiver he/him Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 On the scale of one to Feather, how evil are you? 1
WeiryWriter he/him Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 On the scale of one to Feather, how evil are you? This is an incredibly unfair question. I consider myself to have a perfectly respectable level of evilness but Feather is so evil that she makes me look positively moral in comparison. But I am plenty evil. 1
Curiosity he/him Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 What's been your favorite/least favorite thing to transcribe in the last few years?
WeiryWriter he/him Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 What's been your favorite/least favorite thing to transcribe in the last few years? Huh, that's a difficult question. If I had to pick a favorite it would probably be the audio from Salt Lake City Comic-Con last year because there was a lot of neat information. Readings are also fun. Least favorite, pretty much everything else. Transcribing just isn't my favorite thing to do, I really have to get myself in the right frame of mind to do it. Now I don't mind doing it, mostly because I have very high standards for what a transcription should be (here's a hint if you paraphrase you are wrong) and this way I only have myself to get annoyed with.
Argent he/him Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Traitor. Am I the only person here not affected by this madness?!
Haelbarde he/him Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Traitor. Am I the only person here not affected by this madness?! Kurk hasn't yet (but in before he posts a 'Ask Kurk Anything about timebubbles')
Quiver he/him Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 What's your favourite Cosmere book? Favorite character?
WeiryWriter he/him Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 What's your favourite Cosmere book? Favorite character? I'm really bad at favorites, I generally don't like things with that great of intensity? I like a lot of things but I can't really rank how much I like them in relation to each other? I'll go with The Emperor's Soul because do think that is the beautiful of the cosmere books, but I also have a fondness for Elantris (it's hard not to when your name is literally an Aon) but it's not like I like it more than the rest of the books? As for characters, maybe Hoid? In that he's the character I want to know the most about? But like pre-Tindwyl Elend is probably the character I identify with the most so I really like him as well. 2
WeiryWriter he/him Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Are you left-handed, or right-handed? Right-handed.
WeiryWriter he/him Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 Which Aon is your name? Aon Ian, though obviously pronounced differently (EYE-AYN vs EE-in). Sadly it's not in the glossary so I have no idea what it means or what it looks like (planning on asking about it when I order my copy of the 10th Anniversary Edition).
WeiryWriter he/him Posted July 27, 2015 Author Posted July 27, 2015 Are you a vegetarian? I am not, and I love meat too much to become one.
DanTheSeamonster he/him Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Do you prefer the white Play-doh or the Orange Play-doh?
WeiryWriter he/him Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Do you prefer spicy or un-spicy foods? Un-spicy, I don't like hot foods and neither does my digestive system. Do you prefer the white Play-doh or the Orange Play-doh? Eh I think I liked playing with Play-doh when I was a kid but I just don't see the appeal any more, give me LEGOs! 2
