TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 I wasn't implying a love triangle. Just throwing around potential candidates and I don't see you making suggestions. The only other single ladies I can think of are all underage (Sam, Edgerunner, Scribbler). Though I suppose an Obliteration/ Sam's mom ship would be interesting.

Though I suppose an Obliteration/ Sam's mom ship would be interesting. That could work. (Though Edgerunner's 19 and we gave Sam German citizenship, so I guess they're both kosher. )

(Though Edgerunner's 19 and we gave Sam German citizenship, so I guess they're both kosher. ) Sam gets kidnapped by a sparkly Epic, only to find she has a new stepdad when reunited with her mother. Do I smell a sitcom? (This broadens my horizons. ) 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 That could work. (Though Edgerunner's 19 and we gave Sam German citizenship, so I guess they're both kosher. ) Time to characterize her more then. How about she gets a PoV after Vondra. (Kosher maybe but probably not in Obliteration's strick range... if he has one. How old is Revolution again?) 1
Kobold King he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Sam gets kidnapped by a sparkly Epic, only to find she has a new stepdad when reunited with her mother. Do I smell a sitcom? Can we have a live audience to give a laugh track at all Backtrack's failures? Time to characterize her more then. How about she gets a PoV after Vondra. (Kosher maybe but probably not in Obliteration's strick range... if he has one. How old is Revolution again?) Maaaybe. (About 22, I think? I should probably write this sort of thing down. ) 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Can we have a live audience to give a laugh track at all Backtrack's failures? I thought that was our job. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Sam gets kidnapped by a sparkly Epic, only to find she has a new stepdad when reunited with her mother. Do I smell a sitcom? (This broadens my horizons. ) It will be the sitcom to obliterate all sitcoms and we shall name it "My dad is Epic" (Impart us with your glory. Just make sure that the other sparkly Epic isn't around when Sam makes another "we should all make out"-joke. ) Can we have a live audience to give a laugh track at all Backtrack's failures? Maaaybe. (About 22, I think? I should probably write this sort of thing down. ) Why an audience? The cast can do that just fine. Uuuuhhhhhh. (I tend to just give my characters a more or less vague age range unless forced to pin myself down on the matter) 2

(Sam wouldn't be quite as kissing-compliant as a certain ginger counselor. ) In other news, I found a Popeye .gif and kind of want to see an Epic based off of it. 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 You're expecting Rainmaker to make sense? There's a reason she's not named Sensemaker. What was the effect of Epic status on Hypno's powers again? If I recall correctly, it was decided that epics were just more resistant, but I wanted to be certain. Yeah, they basically are more resistant, which fits with Brandon's answer in the AMA. He can't control as many people if he is controlling an Epic. That could work. (Though Edgerunner's 19 and we gave Sam German citizenship, so I guess they're both kosher. ) Woah, nope. Edgerunner is not getting shipped with Obliteration. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Woah, nope. Edgerunner is not getting shipped with Obliteration. Oh c'mon! Frostfire's basically just a watered down Obliteration already, right? Edited June 24, 2015 by Kobold King 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Oh c'mon! Frostfire's basically just a watered down Obliteration already, right? He's not a creepy old minister bent on world destruction though.
Kobold King he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 He's not a creepy old minister bent on world destruction though. Old minister? No. Creepy guy who almost tried to murder an entire clinic's worth of people because of a perceived insult? Absolutely.

(I know what you are implying but does Shiny Sparkle know what you're implying. ) Oh c'mon! Frostfire's basically just a watered down Obliteration already, right? He's got a point there, he even got that murder everyone streak, although for him it's on slight insults and not on moral principles. To be honest I have more confidence in Obliteration not turning into an abusive boyfriend than I have for Frostfire. Edited June 24, 2015 by Edgedancer 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Old minister? No. Creepy guy who almost tried to murder an entire clinic's worth of people because of a perceived insult? Absolutely. Almost. Emma can calm him down. I highly doubt she can stop Obliteration. And there's that pesky age difference.

I'm not sure if that would be a terrible case of jumping the shark or a brilliant show-saver. (She'd better start learning what I'm implying, or maybe I'll have Sam "coincidentally" inherit a thing that sets off her weakness. ) I'm with you there. I'm still not 100% sure that Frostfire is worthy of someone as awesome as Edgerunner.

I'm still not 100% sure that Frostfire is worthy of someone as awesome as Edgerunner. That depends if we reveal its origin as a paralel dimension fire cow. (Wouldn't that be against the rules? On a more serious note, Shiny Sparkle does understand the concept of no, if she is told it in plain terms she can't deny.) To be entirely honest, in the short time they interacted with each other there were already so many (potential) abusive relationship flags raised that together with Edgerunner's backstory, I'm pretty squicked out by it. (Doesn't help that both characters are currently just throwing their powers around... then again Voidus is currently the only one that actually pulled an Epic getting currupted from the use of their powers straight instead of handwaving it.) 2
Kobold King he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Neither are Aonar and I. Don't forget the Epic army plans after she goes to Portland. Oh, I remember. General Edgerunner and General Flashpoint are still my OTP, after all. You guys are commenting at the speed of light.... Faster, I would say. When was the last time you saw a sentient photon arguing about shipping over the Internet?
Mailliw73 he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Oh, I remember. General Edgerunner and General Flashpoint are still my OTP, after all. Good. I think I'm still gunning for that one. But Lieutenant Frostfire adding some conflict might be fun too.

(Twas a joke, Edgedancer dear. ) There's a lot to be squicked about. There's a fine line between caution and paranoia, but at the moment I'd applaud Edgerunner for showing a bit more hesitation before she lets Frostfire sweep her off her feet. 2

I think this relationship could definitely stand a bit more hesitation and caution on Edgerunner's part. And Frostfire needs to solidify his self control, because if he comes to rely on her to calm him down and she can't...well, that's where a lot of abuse begins. 2

Without getting into PSA territory, a lot of abused women have refused to seek help or ditch their abusers because the're convinced "He's better when I'm around" or "He needs me." This is usually wishful thinking on the part of the woman. Now, understand that I don't blame these women, as what happens to them is definitely not their fault, but Edgerunner is beginning to set foot on a dangerous train of thought. 1

This relationship will be an interesting parallel to Emma's previous one. Now she can escape quickly if she needs to and is stronger mentally than she used to be.
