Delightful Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Sadeas and chasmfiend deserve each other. Morzathoth good call on the admins. All hail Kaymyth, the only adult in this place, who chases nasty children off her lawn in full steampunk gear! 1
Kaymyth she/her Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Someone has to be the adult around here And it is sure as damnation not the admins XD Morzathoth good call on the admins. All hail Kaymyth, the only adult in this place, who chases nasty children off her lawn in full steampunk gear! OK, guys, as much as I appreciate being appreciated, I am most definitely not the only adult around here. The admins work hard to keep this place running smoothly, and I am not comfortable with how easily folks are (even jokingly) trying to place me on some level above them. Please don't. 7
Delightful Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I was talking about trolling levels but ok.
Stormgate he/him Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Well, I might as well say that I am a member of the LDS church, and if you want to ask any questions, feel free to PM me.
Rubix he/him Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I was talking about trolling levels but ok. You may have been, but I don't believe Morzathoth was. Unless someone would like to clarify?
Orlion Blight he/him Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 You may have been, but I don't believe Morzathoth was. Unless someone would like to clarify? Judging by the XD, which is an emoticon in parts of the Internet for , he was just trying to be silly. It'd be like saying to someone working hard, "Gee, why are you so lazy? Ha ha". The humor is in that the opposite is true and everyone knows that, making the statement absurd. This humor also has the greatest potential to be misunderstood. That's how I saw it, anyway.

Like 'Someone has to save the newbies in the introduction threads from spikings, and we all know it's not Voidus. XD' Could be wrong though, it's definitely open to misinterpretation.
The Invested Beard Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Follower of Jesus. From a German Anabaptist background but now mainly non-denominational. 1
Arraenae Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Just finished reading this entire thread and...woah, there are a lot of different opinions here. Some I agree with, some I don't, but seeing as this is a thread about religion, I'd be weirded out if everybody had the same religious (or lack of one) outlook as I did. I think I've seen more religious discussion here than in an entire year of my life.

DSC01 he/him Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I was raised in an evangelical Christian home (in fact, my parents were missionaries). Growing up overseas, in a culture that isn't secular in the way that Western culture is, the faith made sense to me. But then I came back to America and went out into the world, and my beliefs began to change. Now, I'm an atheist.
Mestiv he/him Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 In the papers I'm Catholic, but actually I'm an atheist. Although I usually don't really want to talk about religion and tell people that I'm agnostic. Somehow the religious people I meet are more likely to accept and argue with agnostics than atheists. In my whole family only my grandparents go to church every sunday, the rest of us doesn't care.

I don't know much about adulting. At all.

I mean I was baptised and there is a certificate to prove it in the church somewhere. The government does not keep any official record of religious convictions of it's citizens.

Kaymyth she/her Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 ISIS actually has its roots in ancient Egypt. (Egyptian goddess named Isis). No, the Egyptian goddess has nothing to do with this group's name. It's an arbitrary acronym based on a translated version of what they call themselves. There are several other versions floating around out there, but ISIS is what the media picked up on and won't let go of. Believe me, Kemetic circles are extraordinarily torked off about this whole thing, but we're such a tiny minority in the theater of religion that most of the world barely even knows that we exist.
Stormgate he/him Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I was joking... Sorry if it came off wrong...

Mark IV he/him Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Not all of you may know me. Mostly just SE. I'm an atheist. Well, sort of. To me, god's existence just isn't justified (in science atleast.). I won't really go into the details of why right now. But, if you're interested in talking about it, do PM me. Actually, I wouldn't really say it isn't justified. Rather, it's a bit.... how do I say this... unnecessary? Well, I'm not here to preach atheism (get the joke?). Is there a term between an agnostic and an atheist? Someone who doesn't currently believe in God, but is open to suggestions? That would define my viewpoint on god. My perspective on religions is quite different though. Rather than oppose them, I do really see them as something much needed in a society. It delivers a very crucial thing in the hardest of circumstances - Hope. The fact that someone is watching over us itself gives some hope to us. (I don't really know how to further continue this, but you get my point) 2
Moonskin she/her Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Is there a term between an agnostic and an atheist? Someone who doesn't currently believe in God, but is open to suggestions? Isn't that more or less the definition of agnosticism: to not believe be open to the concept?
Mark IV he/him Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Well, technically, Google says (that's where I checked) that agnostic is someone who believes that nothing of God can be discerned. But, I think I agree with what you're saying. I've heard it being use in that context.
