By the way Kobold, I ended up already writing the first post for Vapor Snake, do you want to read it to get a bit of a better idea how Vondra would respond to the proposal?

I'd love to read it. :D

I actually beat the entire game just recently and in a way getting to the second map makes it worse, because once you

start mind controling the Uruks the don't create a open spot for a new one.

So when I played the game, I removed all the Uruks from the first map prior to moving to the second. When I went back they had completely refilled. But making use of the mind control allows Uruks to grow real quick. Spoilers on game mechanics (no story) below:

Have one of your controlled Uruks challenge an uncontrolled one. Go to the challenge, and while there kill all of your controlled Uruks (using bow is easiest) and then, while fighting the non-controlled Uruks, let the captain get away, he should gain another rank. Or let him kill you, for a guaranteed rank. That's two ranks right there. Wash, rinse, repeat. Plus it will eventually result in the replacement of your controlled Uruk.

The game was a blast, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I hope you enjoy the secret taste, Kobold. :P

So, if have to

let them kill me for them to become a threath to me? Seems kind of counter intuitive to me.

I'm pretty sure Advancing time can increase a few at random without needing to kill yourself.

Considering you dying offers zero negatives to you, as the player, it's not that big of a deal, though I see your point. I thought the game was rather challenging prior to gaining a few of the abilities, and it wouldn't make much sense for the captains to grow with you given the culture established by the nemesis system in the first place. I thought what put the difficulty curve in the rut was the fact that the war chiefs were pushovers. Had they extended your exposure to them, and put them later in the game, they could've increased their difficulty to give the game a much more linear difficulty curve.

It does, but the method I detailed lets you choose who gains the ranks, rather than it being random. Plus there's always the possibility that one of the lower ranks defeats a higher rank. I watched a level 7 beat a level 14 after one of my time jumps.

I think you actually get a bit of xp for dying. Not sure given that I only died twice in the entire game, when surrounded by Uruks, Ghouls and Caragors all at the same time and by a captain that didn't give second chances randomly kiiled me from behind in the whole carnage.

Huh. I died twice in the first 10 minutes :P Although to be fair that's because I got ganged on by about 5 captains simultaneously.

Red - Will bail the city if Nighthound dies or gets into a position where he has failed. Otherwise, will do anything Nighthound says.

There's gotta be some limit to what she'll do. You don't want to come back and find Red pregnant with Nighthoundspawn... right? Right?

Left.

Then there's no other choice.

Ladies and gentlemen, we need to sedate Nighthound and have Dr. Game perform a vasectomy. The alternatives are too dreadful to contemplate.

I just added a bit of character specific memes (most of them Dalles related, interestingly enough) and shiping to our easter eggs. Feel free to add more memes you can think of.

I really scarred you emotionally with that one, didn't I? On the upside, no matter how long her trip is I don't think it will be long enough to establish a consequence like that.

How about the middle path?

If only that pesky healing factor wasn't there.

I saw. Awesome work. :D

Don't take it personally. The Trifecta traumatized me worse than you ever have.

Good point. Anyone up for the official launch of Arsenal Chastity Belts Incorporated™?

Why thank you.

Until either Nighthound's day off or a look into Bloody Mary's torture chamber happens. Let's hope they won't happen.

Does it come with a build in taser function for whoever is wearing the belt?

And once Oregonians learned of Deathwish, Nighthound, Timeport, and Electro, The Dalles' financial woes were over.

Sorry...

It's nothing to apologize for. Just the fact that I still remember those scenes so strongly is a testament to how good your writing was all through that segment. The scenes were written so that readers would hate the Trifecta, and that's exactly what you managed to accomplish.

What I'm saying is, when I reference those scenes I'm not passive-aggressively calling you out for writing them in the first place; I'm expressing that the characters have taken such a life in my head that I feel as strongly towards them as I do towards certain real-life villains. And that is the highest compliment I can give you. :)

It's 3 months, though I have a few weeks at home spread out. I'm leaving for the first part tomorrow.

Have I ever mentioned that Red is my favorite character I've ever written?

She's definitely a well-written character, and (if you don't mind me saying so) she has the most distinctive personality and characterization of your characters.

Thanks!

Also, what does Deathgale look like?

Obviously like this.

Appart from not being a pony that is. :P Anyway, the important characteristics he shares with the pony. Blonde, shorth hair, rather formal attire, black waistcoat with a white shirt underneath, black tie and pants, medium height and a calm demeanor.

Haha.

By the way, I just realized something.

Red doesn't have a pony. Neither does Brightdeath or Chase. Must make some.

I made a Red pony a while ago, actually. Her code's included in the Pony Vault.

So I take it that Bioterror was already waiting in the room?

A Brightdeath and Chase pony to add to the vault would be nice, yes.

On my characters:

Mistwraith - Will do whatever anyone tells her to do.

Red - Will bail the city if Nighthound dies or gets into a position where he has failed. Otherwise, will do anything Nighthound says.

Brightdeath - Will do whatever anyone tells her to do, but'll have her own sidetracked interests.

Amber - I've pretty much forgotten about her, anything's fine.

Chase - Will probably just hang out in her safe house unless ordered back by Rainmaker. Then she'll do what Rainmaker orders. She'll tell Rainmaker if Pheonix resurrects remotely.

Bone - No developement so far at all so really anything goes.

I'll mostly have Chase working off stage while you are gone then, going about business as usual.

And still that pony manages to be weirdly adorable.

Anyway, some kind of limit on what she's going to do with Nighthound might be safer for all of us.

I was kind of going for that. It makes it more horrifying when she lets guys drink her blood or spews rivers of blood from her wrists.

Considering she opted for licking Nighthound's boots and barking like a dog rather than stripping, it's possible that she'd nope her way out of a potentially sexual situation. Or maybe that's just the hope speaking.

For a much safer kind of conversation press 5 after the beep...

Anyway, what branch of the City Guard should Vondra's youngest son work for? I don't think I ever specified it, so he could be in law enforcement, generic guard duty, an assault team, or even Vapor Snake's squad. Any ideas where it'd be most interesting for him to work?

Vapor Snake's squad would be interesting, but it might've taken a lot of convincing on his part to get his dad to let him do it.
