natc Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Double Steel, even without compounding, would make a for a fierce opponent. You have a guy who can shoot you and partially deflect your bullets, and can fly, but he does it at several times your speed. That would be scary to fight against. There's honestly a soft limit to how much they can compound their speed to anyway, because while feruchemy prevents the power from tearing you apart it shouldn't stop the air resistance from killing you past a certain point. So you can't be stupidly fast, only really fast. Only use for steel compounding without accompanying gold compounding (and maybe storing heat nonstop too) is to be really fast forever due to free speed. And beware of crashing into walls. 1
the Gleeman he/him Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 zinc x2 The mentalist who can predict what emotions his opponent is thinking. An Allomantic bendalloy, Feruchemical copper would work well too, all the time to formulate the perfect plan. 2

I was mostly saying Compounding aside, but Compounding examined would be formidable. A good one for a specific occupation rather than an all-around good guy would be Allomantic iron and Feruchemical cadmium. For a sailor or diver, they could breathe underwater for a very long time and they can maneuver easier as a swim er by pulling them to metal sources. For example, a ship, some buried coin treaure, an enemy ship, etc.
Turos Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 (edited) Ha! Good call. That's actually the combo I would choose for myself if given the opportunity. Lurching on its own is so awesome. Edited May 13, 2015 by Turos
Guest Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Double Iron would have sufficient weight to rip buildings down or yank tanks right off their treads, though not sure they'd have sufficient power. Combine with a Nicroburst partner, and just hope Vin's feeling of being crushed/ripped apart wasn't literal?

But then if you are heavy enough the effect on your body might be relatively minimized depending on what kind of physical model we are assuming for ironpull physics. But yeah, feruchemy doesn't prevent external crushing so good luck escaping that building you pulled towards you. All that momentum needs to go somewhere right? 1
Guest Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Nicroburst Steelrunner! Would sow absolute chaos on the battlefield as Allomantic powers began to spontaneously explode all over the battlefield. Combine it with a basic knowledge of Hemalurgy and they'd quickly become unstoppable. (Use Speed to touch a large number of people without warning, looking for reactions caused by unexpected Bursts. Stab Spikes appropriately to gains powers)

Guest Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Double Duralumin: Become so connected to your opponent(s) that they become your bodyguards.
Shadeshadow227 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Double brass. Hug the opponent, turn up the heat a few thousand degrees Dude...BARBECUE HUGS. Well, Time to cross THAT off of the list of things I didn't think I'd say EVER.

Stormgate he/him Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Double nicrosil. They compound their Allomancy and gain the power to burn the iron in a Lurcher or Coinshot's blood. At least, it would IMO.
IndigoAjah he/him Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I think people overestimate luck sometimes. Luck can't make something that's impossible possible, and you don't have infinite luck either, it's a high limit but it is finite. Something on the order of being a few thousands, perhaps millions of times luckier than normal. But people can still kill you if their plan has a success rate of greater than however high your luck is compounded. What is actually impossible though? Most of the laws of physics revolve around probability being highly predictable (essentially 100% predictable) with very high numbers. With enough "luck" in theory entropy itself no longer becomes a law
hoidhunter he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 (edited) BoM spoilers: So, the twinborn combinations I've been considering the best have changed since finishing BoM. Basically, the ability to use F-aluminum to gift your allomantic ability would be a real game changer when combined with almost ANY allomantic ability. Not necessarily turning YOU into a super deadly warrior, but giving you the potential to form a super deadly group of people fueled by you. For example, let's say that you are a pewterarm, you can now have an entire hit squad of friends who are all thugs...or coinshots, or rioters. Also, what if some of those friends were already mistings or ferrings? Depending on how the powers line up, you would have the potential to turn a skimmer into a crasher, or a bloodmaker into a gold compunder, etc. To me, this would represent a particularly dangerous type of individual. Not necessarily a super soldier, but a really powerful ring leader. Edited March 27, 2016 by hoidhunter
hoidhunter he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I've been wondering this as well. I *think* (but have no supporting evidence) that the strength from burning Pewter can't be stored since it's not YOUR strength. That said, you could still store physical abilities faster since you wouldn't need to keep any for yourself. Ex: a regular person can only store X% (let's say 60, because reasons) of their strength or else their heart becomes to weak to pump blood. As a result, most Feruchemists store strength at a rate of roughly 50% so they don't constantly feel like they're dying, or 30% if they need to be lightly active. A pewter burner, however, could store 95% of their strength and rely on the exterior strength from the Pewter. They could even remain active while doing this. Sorry for the double post, but upvote to natc...why?...for agreeing with me. This is my theory exactly. Also, consider the potential application of a pewter arm who is also a bloodmaker. Even if it doesn't help you store health THAT much faster... While burning pewter, you are stronger, faster, more resilient to damage, can stay on your feet even when horribly injured, heal marginally faster, and can all but ignore physical pain. Now imagine if that same individual can simultaneously heal the injuries that didn't stop them in the first place.
IndigoAjah he/him Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Let's be honest, basically any Compounder is pretty daunting!
