"My apologises. I did not mean it in that way. I was only trying to think of a catchy name for your guild. I do not mean in any way to make you something that you do not wish to be."

There was no offense; I only jested, remarking on what I perceived to be a humorous trend in your suggestions.

Were Rab to be a political adviser to whoever steps to the fore of this movement, he would also potentially make a comment to the effect that by making use of gifts from a foreign power, regardless of the intentions behind why they were bequeathed, the indication to others would be that of us aligning with said foreign power. He would additionally comment on how it could potentially influence members of this movement in a way that may bias them towards said foreign power before this movement has had the opportunity to formulate an identity for itself. Dr Heatherlocke would make these comments in a way in which no disrespect to her Ladyship, Queen Elsa Steelheart.

Or maybe he'd just say, 'Thank you for your suggestions. We consider each and every suggestion carefully, and will publicly announce the chosen candidate at such a time as one has been chosen. Thank you for your continued interest.'

Oh, we're also going to need a secondary/group win condition/goal for the QG7 or whatever it is.

If that was an alt win condition, it'd need to be quantified in some way. Oh, and the QF7 is 2/3s doctors.

One thing we definitely need to work on is recruitment from within the game. Of twelve doctors to sign up, only five have joined the guild.

Dr McNinja here.

As both a doctor and a ninja I have yet to find a sufficient guild which allows my desire to both kill and save people to flourish. However with an up and coming clan such as this I can sufficiently cater to both of these needs.

A new guild in a dangerous place needs protection. I could join this clan as both a fellow doctor and to protect my fellow doctors! So I officially join this league of doctors which as of now remains nameless.

My parents will be so upset with me, they think I will still give up being a doctor and become a full-time ninja of The American Ninja Guild.

Also if we need anyone assassinated I would be happy to oblige!

Wonderful! Rest assured, Doctor, that Rule 1 in no way prohibits practicing your ancestral trade. We are glad to have someone with such a valuable skillset cast your lot with us.

My formal name suggestion: The Fellowship of Fetid Fatal Physicians.

Rules so far:

1. Do no harm (unless you want to)

2. Don't take a second opinion, yours is better anyways

3. Ne'er posteth thy prices 'ere thou knowest thine enemy(a.k.a. patient)

4. If you can make it more confusing, do so. A poultice of crushed rare1 herbs2, gathered from the boundaries3 of the known4 world5, ne'er known 'ere to any man6 fetches a higher price than ripped-up daisies.

1. if rare is exceedingly common

2. if a daisy is an herb, and plurals are singular

3. my garden

4. to my pet snail

5. garden

6. who is a dog and a cat at the same time

Fetid? You want to call us fetid?

I like your phrasing of Rule 2 a lot better than the old; I'm going to modify it. The other two seem to me more like specific bits of advice than overarching laws or principles.

I second the motion of phattemer's phrasing being superior for 2).

EDIT: Oh, and Yay! I have a (semi)official title!

Here are some medical ethics that we could edit slightly to make our guild rules.(My added suggestions in blue)

  • Beneficences - a doctor must do things that are good for the patient (Unless you could do something that helps yourself instead)
  • Non-maleficence – a doctor must not try to hurt his patients. (like our rule 1, unless you really want to)
  • Autonomy - the patient can say he does not want to be treated (But we don't have to listen)
  • Justice – talks about what is fair in giving people medicines and care. (however what is fair is really up for debate)
  • Dignity - the patient (and the doctor) have the right to dignity (respect for someone as a person)(However they should respect us as the better person)
  • Truthfulness (being honest) – the doctor must tell the patient the truth (but not the whole truth)

'As we are yet to complete a banner under which to march, it would be challenging for us to send out envoys to other guilds. It would be confusing to others where we to introduce ourselves under a multitudinous array of names. As you know, Identity is Realmatically critical, and so our first goal must be to establish an Identity, and then display that one Identity as a group.

This being said, I am sure we will reach out to other guilds in the near future, once our Identity has truly formed. I trust you would give us the tour should we visit the Newcargo Court?'

'Everyone, let's give The Doctor a proper welcome!

Our guild doesn't necessarily always condone the use of blackmail to boost its membership base. I know that our arguments can be However, now that you're here, I hope that you decide it is worth your time to stay.

We are glad that you joined our cause, even if it was only for the Incentives Program.

Should you wish a uniform, see Doc Piffington, the guild quartermaster.

Enjoy your stay!'

OK! Rules so far, since I saw Clanky's ideas.

Oh yes, I claim the positions of Honorificifier and Secretary, as well as #2. Contact me for titles/honorifics/info.

1. Do no harm (unless you want to)

2. Help the patient! Unless you could help yourself instead.

3. The patient can say that they don't want to be treated. If they do, offer them a cuppa- No! Of course it doesn't have your medicine in it! Just some arsenic...

4. Be fair and treat all patients equally. Unless you are in a bad mood, or they talk, or breathe, or do anything, or if they don't do anything, in which case treat them how you want to treat them.

5. Both you and the patient have the right to respect. However, their right is to respect you.

6. You must tell the patient the whole truth. From your perspective. It also does not have to be about them. "You are going to die", to healthy person, and "You're fine" to dying person are both true, you just said them at the wrong time.

7. Don't take a second opinion, yours is better anyways

8. Ne'er posteth thy prices 'ere thou knowest thine enemy(a.k.a. patient)

9. If you can make it more confusing, do so. A poultice of crushed rare1 herbs2, gathered from the boundaries3 of the known4 world5, ne'er known 'ere to any man6 fetches a higher price than ripped-up daisies.

'Splendid. Of course, we will have to send out multiple delegations. I'm sure you can understand that we can not be seen to favour one party over another. We are, of course, doctors.'

"No problem at all. You are welcome in Newcago Court anytime you please. Though at the moment, some people are having a bit of trouble with poison at the party. Kinda hard to explain."
