Zenith Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Earlier, I don't even know how, but I noticed a certain similarity in the names of Taravangian and Tanavast. Knowing that Brandon does nothing just because, I decided to bring this here. If Taravangian was named similar to Honor on purpose (and we do know this kind of thing happens on Roshar with names similar to the Heralds and such), then it could be that somehow someone on Roshar has let leak the name of Honor's (deceased, right? That we know of?) shardholder, than something's going on. Was it perhaps Hoid, or one of the Heralds? Please discuss, and if there are any major flaws here, feel free to shoot it down. It's kinda baseless, so it's no big deal, just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention.
Straff Venture he/him Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I'd put it simply as a Vorin style of name, apart from the obvious one that lighteyes names are often palindromes. A lot of writers simply make names similar in their books to match how naming works in real life (I could tell an English name from an Arabic one straight away).

I'll give you that, I just find it interesting that they happen to be similar.

Zenith Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 It's all dissonance to me . What if I said resonance? Or renaissance. Awesomesance. Sance words my friends, sance words. BTW, +1 for the like making me realize what the epileptic trees comment meant.
Alonin he/him Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 The names aren't that similar. There are multiple letters that aren't in the other name. Main similarity is that the beginning of their names go Ta_a, with the blank being filled with an r or n.
