How Did Epics Not Run Out Of Names?

So, while reading Steelheart and Firefight i was wondering how come Epics haven't run out of supervillan names? Because think about it, David said that there were thousands of epics and while yes, the english language does have lots of words it's pretty known around the world, so how did they not run out of names? If there are thousands of Epics in Newcago, so while it's third largest, behind New york and Los Angelos. In Firefight, Knox didn't even have a epic name, although he was newly made, so that's it, but still. David said that most Epics are easy to classify, so how come they haven't run out of names around the world even? That's just a question that's been bothering me.

Maybe it's because they picked names like Instabam and El Brass Bullish Dude? It's easier to not run out of names when all the names you come up with are notoriously bad. :P

I also doubt that there are no repeated names. While prominent Epics like Regalia or Steelheart are unlikely to have their name repeated, a name something like Quicksilver is probably repeated multiple times. Comic book hero and villain names are also pretty popular, I would assume.

There are perhaps a few million Epics around the world in total, I think the English language is more than sufficient for naming that many I've managed a good few hundred by myself for the RP on the forums, and some are bound to repeat since they don't necessarily look up all other Epics names.

Instabam I'm okay with, but instead of El Brass Bullish Dude, why not just Bullrush? I mean or something like Brass Bull it would also fit in with their power, probably.

And we learn in Steelheart that at least one Epic had no qualms against calling himself Insulation. If there's an Epic named Insulation out there, then there are probably at least a couple who just looked at random objects and said "Eh, good enough." I fully expect to meet Blanket, Lamp, Nightstand, and Jewelry Box in Calamity. :P

Somehow, I think I know what you were looking at when you typed this...

Nightstand actually sounds like a cool name if you were a Epic. People would think you were being clever when really you are just bad at picking a name.

Pretty sure those are all way better than The Pink Pinkness.

according to this site, there are over 1 million words in the english language. Even assuming that epics didn't have boring names like "that", "the", or "and", I think we can safely assume that there are still hundreds of thousands of words left.

And this is if epics only use 1-word names.

Yeah, that's not even counting the longstanding comic book trend of The [Adjective] [Noun]. In addition to the Pink Pinkness, we could also have….

The Purple Teddy Bear

The Blue T-Shirt

The Plastic Bottle

The Wood-Panel Bookshelf

The Metal Fan

The Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer

The Wicker Basket

And no, none of those things are in my room right now.

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw this thread was a close approximation to 'Umm... have you seen the Reckoners RP?'

Why yes I did. To be honest this kind of makes me wonder if Calamity actually picks the names for the Epics and keeps a list or if it's just random.

"Hmm, I need something with Fire- I already used Firefight, so how about Fire...peace... that's even worse than Deathpoint. Maybe I should just go with Firewall. I could throw in some tecnomancy to make the name fit better."

(and now we also discovered the reason as for why most fire Epics have some kind of quirk. :P )
