The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

On Sunday I told my parents that I failed the year and I'm retaking the courses.

Take the Good Parents Trope... and that's my parents. The only thing close to scolding me was them telling me it was stupid of me not to tell them earlier. That I shouldn't have held it in all summer cause it made me feel cremy all the time.

Good parents I have

Lucky you. If I had failed a year, my parent's would have known without me even telling them, and I would be disowned.

There was a football game tonight. The game itself wasn't that exciting, but band makes everything more interesting.

One of the drum majors gave me a Mario hat he found in his car. That was a highlight in and of itself.

One of the tuba players was wearing a Hannibal Lecter mask with his mouthpiece stuck through it, an old lady scarf, and a bonnet with a pretty bow on it (don't ask). When the other band marched over to set before taking the field, we noticed one of their sousaphone players looked exactly like him. A frenzy broke out as everyone tore off his mask, bonnet and scarf, shoved his sousaphone on his shoulder, and made him run over to the other band. Have you seen someone try to run while carrying a sousaphone? Since it's so big, you have to do this strange waddle-run. It's hilarious. Once the lookalike noticed, they started waddle-running to each other in a scene worthy of the playing of Chariots of Fire. It was the single greatest thing I've ever witnessed.

Someone bought me pizza during third quarter, too, so that was cool. :P

The team lost, and we all froze our fingers off, but as the old adage goes, "It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's whether or not you meet your doppelgänger."

That's hilarious! There were some shenanigans that went on in my high school marching band too. One of the music department's three band teachers (one specialist each in brass, woodwind, and percussion) retired at the end of my junior year, so for my senior year a new guy came and joined the staff to be our brass specialist. Let's call him Mr. McDonald. He was fresh out of college (our school was his first teaching job), young, funny, and SUPER enthusiastic about like everything. During football games, he would often dance while the band was playing pep tunes. And his conducting during concerts was highly entertaining to watch too. I dare say Mr. McDonald was my favorite director I've ever played under. (And with all the music classes I took between 6th-12th grade, I worked with 11 different directors including him, so that's a significant compliment.)

So, I am assuming that you all have seen the 2014 masterwork Guardians of the Galaxy

Well, you know the song that Chris Pratt's Peter Quill dances to in his first present-day scene? The one with the cool little guitar riff? That is Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love."

I just found that song at a thrift store near me, yesterday, on a vinyl 45 record. For 50 cents.

I may possibly be dancing around my house.

I just realized that's exactly how Jasnah describes possible birth of spren - the personification of the anger of the man who's often angry. And that people would start to perceive that anger as something separate from him.

Call Axies! We have identified selfdoubtspren!

But what if we haven't? What if that's not what they are, or if Axies already found them? We'd better not say anything. I'm dumb for even thinking of it.

But what do they look like? How can we identify them if we haven't seen them? Do they look like weasels?!
