Thanks! It's on Thursday, so I've only got a week to panic. :P

I would've liked that one too.

So hear I am telling my kids about the pics of Pluto coming in and my 8 year old son looks at me, "What's Pluto?" I completely forgot that all him and my girls text books would be edited with its downgrade. Still when he asked me that I fell over loln

Congratulations! Just remember to let them know that they get the antidote after they hire you.

That's awesome! :D How's she doing?

Well she's still recovering from the op, so she'll have to stay in the hospital for a good amount of time. Plus, they'll have to make absolutely sure the cancer didn't have time to spread, even if the chances are low, so she isn't completely in the green yet but we are most likely out of the immediate threat for her life.

Omygosh, so much happened this week I don't know where to start.

I'm on a road trip in Utah. Now that I've seen Utah/Salt lake valley that's what I imagine Shinovar to look like. (Except more fertile)

I had a family reunion dinner today. There were so many cousins, that I felt like a Herdazian.

I got a bob cut!

I'm going to Bryce Canyon soon! It will be like visiting the Shattered Plains!

Perhaps too bittersweet to go on this thread, but...

The veterinary clinic that put my cat down last week just sent a sympathy card in the mail, signed by everybody who works there. That... that's a very kind gesture and I'm glad they did it.

As long as it has sweet in it, I think it's okay.

And that was kind of them. :)

Aww. Mark of a good business, right there.

I'm applying for a job! To be fair, I've been doing that all year since my youngest started full-time school but they've mostly been very low-paid jobs that had no potential to lead to a career and, because I have a degree and a post-graduate qualification I seemed to be over-qualified for most of them.

This one, though, has the potential to be perfect. A Parent Support Adviser, working with a cluster of schools all very close by. Part time with child-friendly hours and actually using my degree, my post-grad and my previous work. And something I feel passionate about - making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children and their parents. Having a hard time writing my personal statement. I think I want it so much that I'm frightened of saying the wrong thing and blowing my chances at an interview. But, finding something that fits, feels good.

Just tell them that you'll do exactly what you're told, and you'll do well. It should be fine.

I know this is small, but I was feeling really down tonight. I felt miserable all day, actually. I just felt like curling up on the floor when I took a load of laundry past Mollie. She must've noticed, because a minute later, she walked up to me, wagging her tail, carrying a shoe.

Dogs are simple creatures. That's not a bad thing, though--it just means they're purer creatures than we are. Simple constructs of love and devotion and caring. We'd do well to emulate them.

I hope you start feeling better--it sucks that you feel this way. :( Is there anything we can do to lift your spirits?

I don't mean to sound too bitter here, but she definitely showed me more concern than the rest of the family today. :(

Not sure. I watched Emperor's New Groove and now I'm about halfway through Monsters vs. Aliens. Just asking me helped, though. :)

That's the problem with being sapient beings. Sapience doesn't put us above the animals like a lot of people think it does--all it does is fill our minds with bizarre thoughts and concerns that overshadow the basic compassion and loyalty that animals can feel relatively unimpeded. :(

Glad laughter is helping you get through this. ^_^ If you need to talk, you know where to find us.

Good point. Makes me want to be more of a dog-like person. I mean, not in the lick-random-people-to-say-hello sort of way, but more the way Mollie did tonight. See someone who's upset, and do whatever it takes to cheer them up. ^_^

Thanks.
