I'd say Doctor Whooves was the best part of this episode, but I'd be lying.

The whole episode was the best part of this episode.

Every single side character was given their moment in the spotlight, and every single one of them was given an awesome and intriguing personality. Those easily panicked florists? Hilarious. Lyra and Bon Bon? Incredible. Cranky and Matilda? Freaking adorable.

It's everything I wanted from a side characters' episode and more. :D

EXACTLY. :D The writers brewed just the right balance of hilarity, references, over-the-top insanity and pure unadulterated feels to make this episode certainly one of my favorites of all time. :D

I'm gushing without proper form again. I don't care. I'm too happy to write a decent review right now. Instead, here's a fan art of philosopher!Gummy that's already popped up on the Interwebz:

My biggest question right now is—could Gummy and Wes understand each other? And if so, what sort of conversations would they hold?

Double post because I'm excited, just can't hide it, yada yada yada. :P

I've finally started assigning some of the fictional planets I've created to real-world stars, and SolStation.com has been a godsend. It's packed with easily usable tables that describe all the sun-like stars in order of their proximity to Earth, and gives metric tons of information about them. Their size, known planets in orbit around them, their brightness, their metallicity... this site is a sci-fi worldbuilder's dream come true.

I'm the only person I know who gets excited about this sort of thing, but I thought I'd share regardless. :)

See Twi? I have obscure worldbuilding-related interests too. Now if we can find a way to combine historical Spokane with alien planets, we can create the ultimate factually sound novel. :P

It's not exactly the same, but I was giddy about that interactive map for hours. :P

Aliens visit historic Spokane with the goal of either seeing or destroying (depending on how evil they are) every architecturally significant building in the city? I can see that working. We could call it Close Encounters of the Real-Estate Kind. :P

I'm still looking for a good interactive star map, if anyone wants to be a knight in shining armor and link me to one.

But why would evil aliens destroy landmark buildings of Spokane? :o Unless... space taxes. Space taxes are the only possible motivation for such atrocities.

If you understand the Thor subplot, let me know....... Enjoy! :)

Ooh!  Ooh!  Me!  I understood it!

...still probably would've made more sense if they hadn't deleted so many scenes of it, though.

I kinda understood the Thor subplot. Enough to let me understand what was going on, anyways. :P

That movie was the actual best.

I am extremely thrilled to show you a project that I've worked on since late March: a total rewrite of the Cosmere page on the Coppermind!

It now has the dubious honor of being the longest article that isn't a verbatim source or summary. It also has the most references of any article.

I developed some sexy side quote boxes for this, and I think they make huge blocks of text much more readable. It also took me basically an eternity to research and get every quote together. I have a spreadsheet.

But I hope you like it. I hope it is both a good introduction and also a complete history of the cosmere :)

Well, let's see here...

OK, so Thor's creepy vision of Asgard falling into chaos is supposed to tie into his next movie, Thor: Ragnarok.  So he got worried about what he saw, and decided to go to some spooky enchanted pool here on Earth to look at it more closely.

He finds Selvig, who knows where the pool is and takes him there.

He gets into the pool, the echantment takes hold, and it shows him the big picture.  It showed him the Infinity Stones, and since he's Asgardian, he's actually one of the few people in the MCU who understands the ramificiations of them all starting to show up.  He's personally been in contact with at least three of them.  Putting the Infinity Stones together is Bad News.

He then comes back and supercharges Tony's project to put Vision together.  (Yes, his Mjolnir lightning was meant to kick-start Vision, not destroy him.)  That's the fuzziest bit, how he knew that Vision wouldn't be a bad guy.  I think he wasn't entirely sure how that would turn out, but that we might need an Infinity Stone-powered person on our side when stuff gets real.

Very good, and all spot on, but I shall only comment on the later part:

The Vision now pretty much displays his Infinity Stone openly. The others are under "extensive" guard. Thor knows someone is after them, but not necessarily who. By displaying this one Stone prominently, he creates some bait for Thanos to come and try to "take the Stone that is just out in the open and not guarded by an army". The trap is that this would reveal the man behind the scenes and also cause him to get swarmed by the various superheroes on Earth that have stopped two major threats involving armies of baddies. So theoretically, this ploy should draw out Thanos before he gets too powerful and then defeat him before he can enact his nefarious schemes.

It won't work, but I imagine this might be some of the reasoning on Thor's part.

but how does he know that the pool will help him see the vision clearer (no pun intended), and how does he know that Selvig knows where it is, and what is this pool anyway??

So basically the plot line doesn't make terribly much sense in relation to Age of Ultron in isolation, only in context of the MCU?

And thanks :D

Basically - Asgardian legend says that the pool is there.  Remember, the Asgard left a lot of stuff behind on Midgard (Earth), so they're pretty familiar with our world.

It makes sense in context with the Thor movies, and there are a lot of pieces of the puzzle in the other MCU movies.  They're building up to the Infinity War.

Also, the credits stinger is Thanos finally locating the Infinity Gauntlet - it's a glove that is designed to hold all six Infinity Stones without killing the wielder.

I'm getting baptized tomorrow, so prepare to welcome me officially to the Christian familys of believers. :)  (I'm already a Christian, but baptism is still pretty important. Kolo?)

(Age of Ultron was spectacular, by the way. :D)

Awesome! Which church?

And yes, it is! :D Favorite part?

A local Anglican church. :)

As for the movie, well, there were too many to count, but here are a few (ultra-spoilery) highlights:

  • Tasha x Banner! This is a shipping pair I never expected to see explored in canon, but it works marvelously.
  •
  • Hail Hydra! Whoops, I mean, bye Hydra. They sure went down easy for a group that has "cut off one head and two more shall take its place" for a motto, but that opening sequence was incredible.
  •
  • "Didn't see that coming!" Oh Quicksilver, you're awesome. You and your accent.
  •
  • That goes double for you, Ms. Scarlet Witch.
  •
  • "The screams of your victims echo from the black gates of Hel!"  Someone touched a bit of a thor subject, huh? Get it? 'Cuz Thor was failing spectacularly to comfort Bruce? Eh, I'll stop.
  •
  • I found it intriguing that the Mind Stone already had the framework for sentience before Stark got his hands on it. Do all the Infinity Stones have a capacity for consciousness?
  •
  • I loved the birth of Ultron. His first thoughts weren't DESTROY TONY STARK or THE WORLD WILL BE MINE--no, his first thoughts were confusion, followed by genuine sorrow when he sees the state of the world. Ultron was a brilliantly well-developed character throughout the movie; twisted by anger, but also tempered by the genuine, albeit corrupted, desire to save the world that drives his motivations.
  •
  • I could talk about the whole movie from here, but that would take too long to write. Suffice to say, I adored every minute of it from beginning to end. :D
  •
  • ...Okay, so I'm still a little ticked off about Quicksilver. :( But other than that, absolutely perfect! 10 out of 10, would debate the worthiness of elevators again! :D

Cool! :)

YES THIS MOVIE WAS THE BEST

That opening sequence doe

Out of everyone, I did not expect to love the twins. But I love them. So. Much.

And Hawkeye. Wife. And kids. *SQUEEEEEEEEEeee*

AND VISION

I could talk forever about this movie. But that would be easier in person. One thing the internet can't do...  <_<  *fervently wishes I had a Skype*

I Googled "baptism cakes," unsure of what to expect. The results were...

well….

beautiful, and perfect….if you're getting baptized as an infant.

Since you are not getting baptized as an infant, I just Googled "awesome cakes."
