Exactly. He basically had two ways to get out of the roleblock.

1. Not post for three turns OR not Invest for two cycles. (This is the one that I thought he was going for.)

2. Get a Bloodsealer to kill him off. (This was unexpected. I'm unsure whether or not the Bloodsealer was an OC)

It did look like he was going for option 1 there, so maybe the Bloodsealer was an OC who didn't have permission, so to speak, to kill off Odium, and force the Shard to select someone new.

My vote for this cycle is for Unodus. Not because I have hard evidence against him, but rather because you guys killed off the only other person I was suspicious of. Turns out he was innocent too (Ostrich). So, I'm going to trust Snoopy.

Wait a second, the case against me is built upon something that Odium "said" to you? How can you be sure you're not being manipulated into lynching me?

Posted

I'm going to place a vote on Araris.  I have basically nothing to back it up with other than a feeling and some very shaky logic.

Araris has admitted to having a role.

Has been bordering on the edges of conversations, mostly offering scenarios.

So far we have seen two Posioneers, one Unmade, one Awakener and one Witness die.  No Bloodsealers or Lifeless Operators.

There is a case for Peng to be the L.O. which leaves the B.S. as the only loose role.

We know that a B.S. was involved in freeing Odium from Hoids lockdown.

Going by Snoopys surprise at Maills death, I doubt that the Shards were involved in freeing Odium in order to make the game more interesting.

So that leaves either a Champ B.S. or a rogue B.S.

Admittedly there could be more than one L.O or B.S. but given the number of way the Sharders can protect and block kills I hesitantly doubt it.

Feel free to pick holes in it.  I did say it was shaky logic.

@Unodus I think he was trying to manipulate me into believing something else.

I don't want to give any more information, because the OCs will know something important.

Edit:

@Alvron As far as we know, there are two LOs. Not sure about the Bloodsealers yet. And yes, we were not expecting the Bloodsealer kill. I believe it was a rogue Bloodsealer because I don't think team Evil would have done that. If they had just waited, we would have been forced to waste a lynch on Mailliw.

I am going to hesitantly vote for Unodus, but only because of Hoid.  If you have any reasons for me to take my vote off you Unodus I would be happy to oblige.

Maill would've had to wait for two full cycles in order for his shard to be passed on.  Odds are we would've found at least one other Champ by then.  Waiting was not an option if they wanted to win.

As for the rogue BS.  I now doubt that theory.  While Joe is known for trolling, he also sometimes puts hints in his write up.  As it showed, Maill expected to be taken out by a BS.  It was even labeled as Plan C.

That only leaves a Champ BS to have done the deed.

@Alvron In your discussion of roles we haven’t seen yet, you left off Voidbringer. Also, since a shard is passed on after three turns without a post (as distinguished from cycles), Maill only would have had to wait until the end of this day for Odium to pass on. (His last post was on Night 3.) The writeup hints are a good point, although I'm not sure how much to make of them. If the Bloodsealer is Odium's, it appears they didn't know who Endowment was.

So now we have four down. It seems likely to me that there’s only one or two left. One of them has the shard Odium, so they can kill shards now if they know who they are. It would be excellent if we were lucky enough to lynch Odium this turn and he was the only one left, but I think it is best to prepare now for the possibility that we mislynch by working on a plan to find Odium.

Before, when Endowment had the names of all of the Shards, there was a list of people who could have been Odium, which the Shards used to find him. Now there is a list of who can be the new Odium: the people who are not Shards. One of these people has become a Shard. Assuming Odium works the same for its new holder as it did for the previous one, he will not be able to be invested by a Shard. I propose that all of the Shards currently alive try to find out who cannot receive investiture.

There are 19 players left. Of these, six are shards, one is Hoid, and the remaining twelve are potential Odium candidates. Today we will lynch one of these twelve, and during this cycle five Shards can attempt to invest another five. If Odium is among these five, a Shard should receive a message that he cannot receive investiture. If not, the Shards can cover the other six through investiture and lynching during the next cycle. We should be able to find Odium by the beginning of Day 7. With the Shards’ information, they may be able to narrow down suspects and find him even earlier. If there is still another OC left after we kill this Odium, we can repeat the process. (The second time will take longer if Odium is successful in killing Shards, but it should be just as effective.)

There is some danger in this plan in that it calls for giving power to prime suspects rather than those that are trusted. However, Odium will not receive this investiture, or hopefully even discover what he would receive. Anyone who does receive investiture can be instructed by Hoid. They will either be clean, in which case they should have no problem going along with Hoid and using their powers for our benefit, or they will be a remaining OC, in which case there will be little damage they can do without revealing themselves. This plan does assume there are few OCs left, but I think that is reasonable to believe at this point.

"Yes, I'll be holding on to Odium come tomorrow. And you'll be serving me Old man."

I think that's fairly clear; the Bloodsealer on Maw was part of the OC plan. Unless there's a Bloodsealer that gave them warning in a PM (which I doubt), that means it was an OC.

So what do we know?

-Vine, Maw, Gramps and Dorin were all OCs

-They tended to distribute their votes around multiple potential lynches

-There is at least one OC left, holding Odium

-Any village kills need to be done through lynches

-One of the Eliminator tactics has been to cast suspicion on Winter (Dowanx, Maw, Gamma (mild, on Nalthis))

I suspect there are at least two OCs left, including one Bloodsealer and one Awakener (which seems like such a useful role for them that they almost certainly have one). We can check that there's two at the end of the next night, since Odium needs to Invest to kill a non-Shard.

As for suspicions, well:

People I kind of trust:

Snoopy - I think the Shards would have done something about him if he wasn't actually their spokesperson. Instead we got a joint reveal-RP between him and Aonar.

Winter - By default, because of Snoopy

Bort and Eol - Because of Dowanx's lynch last cycle. Bort brought up Winter being framed and its ties to Dowanx, and Eol expanded on it with the addition of vote analysis

Peng - Very early in the game (~1/4 of the way through the first cycle, predating any thread discussion) he suggested all of us on Nalthis should stay there semi-permanently. If he was an OC, that would have made three OCs (him, Gamma, Dowanx) and two Villagers (Luckat and myself, and I can't be sure about Luckat), which isn't a favourable distribution and I doubt he would bring it up of his own volition.

People I suspect:

Araris - was also suspicious of Winter in the thread

Jain - his posting habits remind me a bit too much of MR4

People I would like to hear more from:

Feligon

Tulir

Ash

Sarcomere

Meta

-------

Luckat, I like that idea. Thinking about the damage an invested OC will cause:

Cultivation - open a PM (largely harmless, potentially helpful), secret vote (potential issue, x1 vote change, public result)

Dominion - change a vote (potential issue, x2 vote change, public result)

Honor - can protect someone else (OCs know who not to hit)

Preservation - protected (opportunity cost only)

Devotion - can't be lynched (largely harmless unless they're a potential lynch target)

The major dangers are vote manipulation powers, but the OCs can't misuse those without revealing themselves to the Shards (and hence everyone). There's a maximum of x3 votes they can change; if we propose the Shards come down hard should a valuable player come under fire, we can avoid the worst of that risk (but the Shards will reveal themselves in the process). That, and the village becoming absorbed in finding Odium and forgetting there are other OCs to find.

Edit for the return of the blue text Awakener

Nice plan Luckat. Some slight risk involved, but not enough to make it too damaging if an OC is invested.

Aww, thanks for the trust Twelfth. I kinda trust you too, going by your posts throughout the game. I'm less sure of Peng though. His day one attempted kill and lifeless save had the feel of a setup to me.

leift, did you mean to put your vote in a quote box?

Well, yeah, I voted for Winter, and would have done it again, but that is because she had a really poor response to Sarcomere's vote on Meta. I had a good opportunity to become involved in discussion and give a vote with some real logic behind it, and did so.

As for the bloodsealer thing, the shards probably know a lot of the roles since they can be trusted 100%. I don't think its something we should worry about too much. If I was a bloodsealer, I might have tried to kill Odium to make the game a bit more fun rather than be in the list of villagers to be powered through by the shards in a hunt for one or two OCs.

Aw, Damnation.  I completely forgot about the Voidbringer role.  As well as misinterpreted a mechanic.

Sorry Araris.  My entire theory has just been thrown out the window.

I'm going to retract my vote for Unodus for the moment. That may change.

My apologies for being so absent recently. My weekend was consumed with studying and Valentines' Day, so I haven't been on to do much more than keep up. I'll try to do better going forward now that I've got some time before me next test! :) I'll abstain from voting this turn, but expect me to be back in full swing next cycle!

Night 5: The Calm before the Storm

Derushe sighed. He'd come to help the Shards defeat the Broken One, but they hadn't actually needed His help. Or that of any of the others. Most of them were starting to drift away, back to their own planets, if they still existed, or simply to a new one. Not many of them cared anymore.

He heard his name coming from the large group discussing who to kill. He couldn't quite make out what they were saying, since they wouldn't let any of them into their group. They were, 'untrusted'. Even though Cultivation had trusted Him, no one else appeared to.

Finally, one of them, the White haired Hobbes, came over to her. "Hey, do want to tell us anything?"

"Like what?"

"Your powers and abilities, your allegiance." He frowned down at him. "You're highly suspect right now Derushe, and you're claim of not having any abilities isn't helping you."

"Look Hobbes, you used to be a good, fine man. You used to interact with us, but now? You're willing to kill us all as long as You and your shards maintain control. So You might as well kill me, because there's nothing I can say to change your mind." He folded his arms and glared at the noble.

"Well alright then. If you say so." Hobbes reached out a hand, placing it on Derushe's neck, and whispered, Your breath to mine, Your Life becomes mine."

What?! He could feel all of his Breath rapidly vanishing, being Pulled into Hobbes. That was supposed to be Impossible! He could feel his skin growing gray, that wasn't supposed to happen either, and neither was the loss of movement. Or the falling.

He couldn't even feel the floor as it slammed into his back. He couldn't feel anything anymore.

Unodus was a Wolrdhopper invested by Cultivation!

Oops, sorry Unodus. Blame Hoid.

My vote for today is going to be Peng. I have no real evidence besides a slight suspicion. The day 1 attempt on his life seemed to be a bit forced.

It is? Oh, so it is... D'oh!

I can only blame a stupidly late night followed by an insanely early morning today.

Ummm, Peng, I guess. Wake me up in the morning, would you?

Thanks, ghost of Ostrich :)
