I don't mean that they don't do anything else ever, just what their main role is. And romance doesn't have to be the main plot as long as it's that characters main purpose.

Think of all the movies where the guy "gets the girl" at the end.

*light bulb* Just had an idea. Indiana Jones. At least Willie from "Temple of Doom" fits the mold. Probably any woman in a James Bond movie does as well.

Yup!

here are some more:

princess peach

The only girl in that terrible dragon ball Z movie

The babysitter and wife and daughter from Crazy Stupid Love.

The princess from A Knights Tale

Achilles 'love interest' from Troy (he what, meets her once, goes looking for her in the city then dies)

Gru's love interest in Despicable Me 2

.......anyone else want to throw a few in or should we just declare this a major success/failure (?) of a question and pick another one?

There's even two of them (one's not worth watching, though).

Is one from Top Gear? And he just quit? And that's why I'm confused?

Indeed.  Never even watched him, but from what I hear, he was pretty much unbearable to watch or work with.

The other Chris Evans, however. :-)

It's been 16 days since the last one was answered and Chandrian still hasn't come up with a new challenge, so I'll just jumpstart this with my own:

WLIU, name 8 people (Presidents or other) on current US dollar bills (bonus points if you can name the denomination).

Posted

I won't be able to get all 8, but I'll give it a shot...

1. Benjamin Franklin ($100 bill)

2. Andrew Jackson ($5 bill?)

3. George Washington ($1 bill)

4. Everybody who signed the Declaration of Independence, including John Hancock and Thomas Jefferson ($2 bill--does this bill count? They don't print them anymore, but they're still legitimate usable money.)

Here's what I've got.

George Washington ($1)

Thomas Jefferson ($5)

Alexander Hamilton ($10)

Andrew Jackson (soon to be replaced with Harriet Tubman) ($20)

Benjamin Franklin ($100)

There's six, if you double-count the $20.

For the other two, I'll chip in John Hancock and John Adams, seeing that they're both on the back of the $2, along with most other founding fathers.

Extra if Tubman doesn't count: James Madison on back of $2.

I've got one for you guys: WLIU, how many US presidents served between George Washington and Abraham Lincoln?

Posted

That's incorrect, actually.

Lincoln is on the five, Jefferson is on the two. Tubman isn't on a bill yet (hence current bills). I suppose Adams and Hancock would count since I didn't specifically say the front of the bill even if that's what I meant.

If you're curious, Madison has his own bill (5,000), as does Grant (50), Wilson (100,000), Cleveland (1,000), and McKinley (500).

As Lincoln is the 16th president, there were 14 presidents between the two them.

WLIU, name 8 of those 14.

I could let this wait a little longer, but since no one has even attempted to answer part of it, any 8 of the below would've worked:

John Adams
Thomas Jefferson
James Madison
James Monroe
John Quincy Adams
Andrew Jackson
Martin Van Buren
William Henry Harrison
John Tyler
James K. Polk
Zachary Taylor
Millard Fillmore
Franklin Pierce
James Buchanan

Let's try something easier now.

WLIU, name 7 US state capitals west of the Mississippi (and east of the International Dateline) Note: Minnesota and Louisiana's capitals are east of the Mississippi (barely), so those will not count.

Posted

Looking up the Mississippi River on a (mostly) blank map itself for reference doesn't count, does it? It only listed capitals on or near the river, and I didn't include those. The list below is entirely from memory. Spoilered just in case.

Spoiler

  1. Salt Lake City, UT
  2. Sacramento, CA
  3. Boise, ID
  4. Phoenix, AZ
  5. Denver, CO
  6. Oklahoma City, OK
  7. Austin, TX

I'm pretty sure that all of Slowswift's capitals are right, but I will add a few of my own:

8. Juneau, Alaska

9. Santa Fe, New Mexico

10. Honolulu, Hawaii (Is this one over the date line? It's the only one that I think might be.)

11. Topeka, Kansas

12. St Louis, Missouri? (This state fits the geographical requirements, but I'm not 100% certain of the capital.)

13. Des Moines, Iowa

14. Little Rock, Arkansas

Ah of course, the fabled land of America. However great it may have been I have a small request to make. After this one is answered could everyone give more general challenges, the sort that most people could know about, not questions that directly relate to something that only those who are also directly related to would know.

Yes. Please no more US-exclusive questions for a while. Not all of us can answer those. :)

Sorry about the state capital one for the non-Americans. 90% of the geography-based questions I've asked have been international and I wanted to mix it up from my norm. Thought 7 would be manageable since there are so many western/mid-western states and over half of them are well-known internationally.

@Slowswift You're up, since you got 7 (and you were right!)
