Got an email from Peter, he's joining us in our blind, hopeful insistence that everything will be fine.

Maybe while we're there a freak snowstorm will blow in and we'll all be trapped in the bookstore with Brandon for three days and he'll reveal all of the secrets of the Cosmere to us and we'll all become best friends and he'll write us all into Dragonsteel. You wouldn't want to miss THAT, Shaggai, would you?

That almost makes me want to change my plans and go,  but I have an important appointment the next morning I really can't miss even if it meant being snowed in and learning all the secrets of the Cosmere.  :\

So, all you 17th Sharders going, are you going to wear badges or something to identify one another (you know, besides TItan Arum who will have Nightblood and make it obvious who he is)?  Because I was thinking that if the merch for 17th Shard ever gets made (there's a thread somewhere around here), we all should do this at future signings.

My husband was at a Star Wars card tournament on Saturday and talked up this site and the signing (despite the fact we're not going to make it) to one of the other tournament participants who he learned was a Sanderfan.  I wonder if the guy will be there as a result...maybe not because of the weather and how far the guy would have to drive.

So, has there been any talk of a Cosmere meetup somewhere on the East Coast? Philly, DC, New York, something like that. It would be really cool to have an event, maybe for the 10th anniversary of Elantris in April, or if that is too soon to plan, for the release of Bands of Mourning in the fall.

Just saw a note from Peter that the Philly signing is cancelled due to snow; Boston is pending. :(

Cancelled? Damnation. Hopefully they can reschedule to sometime soon.

The worst part of this cancellation is that the storm under delivered and Philly didn't get very much snow at all. Grrrrr. I guess it's better be safe than sorry.

According to his site, the signing was cancelled due to cancelled flights. Seeing as he was in Kentucky, the air space between there and Philly was probably very hazardous. It wasn't the snowfall itself that caused the cancellation. If that makes you feel any better :(

Thanks Blaze. I read an article on Frobes about why airlines cancel flights 12 to 24 hours ahead of any storm beginning. It is in full anticipation of the fact that a big storm will happen and that routes in the winter become unprofitable if there are delays and costs associated with working at various airports. They'd rather keep the planes at their home airports/hubs then have them stranded elsewhere. So, unfortunately, they thought that Philily would get a foot of snow, and the reality is that it was significantly less than forecast.

When all is said an done, I'd rather the airlines err on the side of caution then keep people stranded in airports for up to days on end. I'm just upset that I missed out on my first Brandon signing.

Brandon said they would reschedule if they could, and I really hope that they do. My wife and I are thinking of driving all the way up to Boston tomorrow, but Peter says that the weather conditions there are making that one iffy as well.

Currently Boston is still the plan, and it will stay that way unless it doesn't.

EDIT: And now it hasn't. The flight got canceled and this time it looks like for good reason. They tried to reschedule, maybe even driving in from Hartford, but with the roads in their condition it's just not a good idea. So, maybe Brandon will visit Boston in the summer.

One option would be to, if Brandon cannot reschedule due to time lost whilst traveling, he could always video chat into the bookstore. Yes, he can't sign anything, and pictures become nigh impossible, but it still allows him to interract with his fans and do a Q&A and possibly a reading. I think it would go well with him shipping signed book plates. Just a thought.

The logistics of a virtual signing are bound to be a pain...

Then someone needs to get to inventing a Spanreed...oh wait, someone already has because the POTUS has an Autopen! Brandon should just ask to borrow this thing. How cool would that be?

That would work for the signing, but it would only be a Plan B type solution.  What scientists really need to work on is teleportation/transporters.  Then cancelled flights would be a non-issue.  ^_^

Poor substitute, but I recorded the Q&A during the 1/23 Houston signing. No signing line recording, unfortunately. Inclement weather stinks.

This is officially dead now, right? If it were going to get rescheduled, we'd've heard something by now, yes?

My understanding is that Brandon is going to try to come back in May.

I thought that he was trying to go back to Boston in May. It seemed coming back to Philly was too up in the air. Maybe I'm recalling incorrectly?

I finally made it down to Children's Book World to pick up the copy of WoR I ordered for the signing. They had signed bookplates in, but no steehunt cards. The lady mentioned that they were hoping to get him back sometime this year, but I'm not sure if that was an official "We're working on it" or just a general hope.
