Hey traceria, I started one over in the SA forum but made sure to reference you and Oudeis both. I'm not taking credit for the idea, just posted my first stab at what a deck may look like similar to what I posted here! Cheers.

Oh, sorry...I totally missed it.  I'll delete my post. :)  No worries about credit or anything!

Now that I know I won't be the only creepy adult in a kids bookstore, I'll be there! ;)

Sorry for the double-post; just wanted to make sure people see this as NEW because if you're going it could be very relevant.

Just spoke with the venue, and I have some additional information.

They will require that you purchase a book there to attend the event. They have more of his Young Adult stuff, but you can call and order any book still in print, though you will have to purchase it over the phone. If you buy a book but don't show up on the day of the signing, they will have Mr. Sanderson sign it for you and hold it until you can get there.

The store itself closes at 6pm. They will open again at 7pm for the signing event.

They don't typically do numbers or wristbands. If they expect very large groups, they might give out numbers. The last Sanderson event at this store had about 40 people, which wasn't enough to warrant numbers.

I will call again on Monday the 26th. By then, based on how many people call to ask about the event, they will make the decision on whether or not to give out numbers. If they do, you can pick up your number/buy a book from about 5pm to 6pm, before they close prior to the event. If they expect a TON of people, they will leave the store open the extra hour between 6 and 7 to pick up numbers.

Also as a general rule, she said, Sanderson fans are courteous and nice, so I for one look forward to living up to her expectations.

Thanks for the heads up. Now I need to figure out what to buy from a kids bookstore...

If anyone gets the chance to ask one more brief question: When will we see the Cohesion and Tension surges?

Mailliw73, I'm pretty new and I'm not sure what these are. Something on Roshar, I assume, some kind of surgebinding doable by Knights Radiant? Is there a link you can give me with more info?

WOB on Cohesion and Tension during the figment chat tonight: We are unlikely to see it in Stormlight 3, it is more likely that we will see them with people who are focus characters of the back five.

Aw, well that's a shame. So Dalinar won't even learn how to use the Tension Surge until a later book? :(

I called the bookstore today to order a copy of Words of Radiance. The woman I spoke with said that she thinks that they will likely not be closing between six and seven anymore. Instead, they will start selling the books for signing at six. When you purchase your book, you will get a number that will determine your place in the line. She said that she expected that it would be pretty laid-back, like the last time Brandon visited the store. She said that last time, Brandon just came in and sat down and chatted for a while before he started signing. Sounds good to me, I'm really excited about this event!

I'm also going to be taking my wife, as a surprise. I just started her on his books a few months ago, she's read the Stormlight and Mistborn series (including AoL), and just finished the Reckoners works.

EDIT: So, what 17th people will be there for sure? It seems that Oudeis, Titan Arum, NutiketAiel and rhandric are confirmed. I will be there for sure. You'll be able to spot me by my giant beard and my clothing (I might be dressed as Prof, but otherwise I'll be in my usual garb - a kilt).

I plan to bring my phone and its external battery. However, my ride had work the next morning. If the event runs late, either I might have to leave, or even with the charger my battery might die. If you think you can stay later, maybe set yours up after the first hour or two to catch what I miss? Or if you don't think you'll be staying late, just back up my recording in case one of us has some sort of glitch.

I'll bring my phone and charger too, just in case. Also, beware everyone, there could be quite a bit of snow on the ground. I hope it isn't too bad and the roads get cleared so I can drive up from DC!

Ohh, and you'll be able to identify me since I'll dress up like Vasher!

Even if there's another Mistborn and another Vasher, I bet we'll be the only team there of Mistborn with Vasher.

Maybe while we're there a freak snowstorm will blow in and we'll all be trapped in the bookstore with Brandon for three days and he'll reveal all of the secrets of the Cosmere to us and we'll all become best friends and he'll write us all into Dragonsteel. You wouldn't want to miss THAT, Shaggai, would you?

Well, I'll see if I can go.

Nightblood will indeed be along for the ride...assuming I can make it.

According to philly.com: Up to a foot of snow could be falling on the city

If the snow doesn't block the roads, I can come. The real question is if the bookstore will close and if Brandon will be able to make it on time. He's coming from Kentucky according to the News post, so it's possible that he could get delayed.

I tweeted Peter and Brandon to see if there's a contingency plan if the Philly signing gets cancelled. I even said (selfishly, of course) that he could come to DC instead. Alas, there is no back up plan. If the snow cancels it, we aren't likely to get a signing... :(

:o Everyone, pray to the Stormfather that there's not too much snow.
