Well on Friday Brandon said in the update on his website that a new State of The Sanderson update was on the way possibly next week. I just wanted to hear your thoughts and predictions to the likely modified list of great books to be written. I recall going insane upon seeing the first one in 2013 and doing lots of discussion and thinking lots about the order of the books while getting hype. We can also discuss the list when he finishes putting it together.

Well, first of all, I think it is going to surpass all of my predictions.

Most of all, I'm excited to see updates on the statuses of The Silence Divine, Skyward, and Dark One.  When Brandon did the reading from Silence Divine (it's on youtube) he said that it was going to be a novella.  My guess is that its release will be like that of The Emperor's Soul.  Skyward and Dark One are both YA, so I doubt he will write those until Reckoners and Rithmatist are finished.

I'm also really excited to see what he says about Nightblood and Elantris 2.

Wait, is there actually any word that the reading was from Silence Divine.  I always assumed that from what he said it was just a different experimental novella that was also set on Ashyn.

Maybe the state of the sanderson will clear some that up.

As much as I really want Nightblood to come out asap, barring Stormlight it was what most excited about (even before that thing in WoR), I don't think it will be out for a while, at least after the second main mistborn is started, definitely before Elantris 2.  Other predictions, I think the Rithmatist series will be two books.  Also, at least one thing he mentions is going to come completely out of the blue, but will probably be a low priority.

Is it bad that I'm get really excited anticipating his blog post?

Hey when did he do a reading of a cosmere story on Ashyn? I find that one the most exciting of the novellas in the cosmere as I like the idea he stated about Ashyn and it is in the galaxy of Roshar so I wonder if there will be any tiny tiny connections. what is the title of the video on youtube where brandon does the reading? I want to search it.

Nope it is not bad :)

By the way I know Brandon is not sure that Rithmatist will be a trilogy but it seems too awkward to fit it into two books, I feel that it fits the size of a trilogy fine. Unless Joel just defeats Nalizar in the next book but I would like to see more competitive rithmatics and a focus on the unknown in book 2 with book 3 being about defeating the wild chalklings and Nalizar.

The Rithmatist series length was just my personal prediction.  The Rithmatist felt pretty open-ended about how much more could go on.  I'd be totally down for four or five books or ten books.  My prediction for two instead mainly comes from two factors. One, he's just in the middle of so many series, that even he has trouble keeping up with because he was finally able to let them out after WoT took up a lot of his time.  So, he might try to cut down on the number of ongoing series soon, though in the end he'll do whatever the narrative demands of course.  Two, you don't see a lot of two book series, and Brandon likes doing things we don't see a lot.  But, if it is a trilogy I could totally see the Aztlanian focusing more on the Azteca empire (I know he said somewhere he had to do a lot of Aztec research for prewriting the book).  Then three could maybe revolve around The Tower.

Here's a video with the whole presentation:

Here's just the reading:

By the way, not sure if this is what you meant, but Ashyn isn't just in the same galaxy as Roshar, it's in the same solar system.  Pretty sure all of the cosmere is in one galaxy.

Rest assured, you are not alone. I am doing hourly checks on Brandon's website in anticipation of the update.

What happened to this? It's still coming this week, right? Exams are finally over now and I am so ready for some good and exciting news.

He posted on Twitter and Facebook today that there will be an announcement tomorrow at 4:30 PM EST. Is it the SotS2? Who knows.

The announcement has been moved up to 4:00 PM EST.  Too long to wait.

I'm placing bets that the surprise is this: http://ethanskar.com/wordpress/books/the-lurker/

Some people are predicting ridiculous things (Stormlight 3-10 all done? Really?), and a lot of people think it's some kind of movie deal. But as far as I've seen, all of Peter's hints have been about something writing related, something new that Brandon has written. I'm sticking with my guess above, though I'd be happy to be proved wrong and him have finished Silence Divine or some such other Cosmere novel/novella under our noses.

Other than that, I'm expecting news about SoS finishing, general outlines for when he's planning to write Calamity, the 3rd Wax/Wayne book, Stones Unhallowed, and The Aztlanian, as well as general stuff about far off projects. He might have another novella or two in the works as well, but I'm not expecting terribly much more than that.

Oh, and the news that Peter's posted a few times about the White Sands: Scripts for the first book are done, penciling for the first chapter, and they're auditioning colorists at the moment. Hoping to have something a little firmer for the release date.

Just saw a Tor announcement about trying out a subscription based service.  I wonder if this is related somehow.

Even better..TWO Mistborn books next year.

For Cosmere,

3 more Wax and Wayne's, 2 of which coming out very soon after each other next year.

SA 3 in 2016.

"Elantris" sequels will have to be done before modern Mistborn Trilogy.

"Nightblood" after Elantris sequels.

"Dark one", YA cosmere, oh man, this sounds intresting.

"Silence Divine" Will get a new name and probably be a novella.

"White Sand" is moving along and will see alot of it in 2015.

And at least two other new cosmere series before the Future Mistborn trilogy.

"sniffing" Just look at all that Cosmere, It, it's so beautiful.

I want to read that, and I want to read it right now! (Dark One) Is there anything like it out now? A coming of age by the bad guy story?

Posted

I'm pretty excited about these developments! Be good to see Wax and Wayne again haha. But yes the idea for Dark One does sound interesting, something I could easily get into and well it being Cosmere doesn't hurt haha.
White Sand graphic novel is still pretty much set for 2015 right? It seemed ambiguous from the update.

So Brandon pretty much accidentally wrote a book. He keeps up, he is going to get to the point where people will invite him to participate in anthologies and he is just going to literally sneeze a few thousand words in there.

This gives me hope for the next State of the Sanderson. "I got a bit sidetracked while writing a Zahel-related chapter and accidentally wrote Nightblood way ahead of schedule. You can now download the Warbreaker sequel from my website for free."

I haven't heard of the Dark One before today...is that going to be Odium's coming of age book?

I think the Dark One will be set on a Shardworld we haven't heard of yet. Either that, or we'll be seeing a new Selish region (i.e. new form-based magic system!). It's too early for a Yolen story, so this probably isn't about Rayse. Edited by skaa

So I read the SotS...but what was the big Tor announcement? The fact that there's two Wax and Wayne books now?
