It is time to address Vorlin. My greatest rival, some might say. The most legendary pirate to brave the storms, others would tell you. A thief, a scoundrel, and a monster, most would relate. All these are true. All these things I realized too slowly, too late. At first, he seemed an ordinary fellow. We found him floating in the wreck of a ship, clutching for dear life to driftwood, half dead.

After everything I've said thus far, it seemed we'd let him drown. Turns out, the only man who deserved to die at sea, was the man we spared, we pitied. The one man I regret saving. Yet save him we did.

We recovered him, nursed him to health, not knowing his identity. We did not yet know that he had sank the merchant ship and done unspeakable things to the prisoners. That he disgusted his associates so much, criminal they might be, that they left him to die.

My first conversation with him was extraordinary, to say the least. He played the part of an innocent merchant, victim to savage brigands. A good actor, Vorlin was. Played me like an Azish harp. Had me dancing like a puppet on strings to his tune.

So it was I adopted him, if that is the right term. Took him in, gave him a place. A fresh beginning, I had called it. It was. A fresh beginning for him, and the start to my troubles. I gave him a home, saved his life, and he repaid it by whispering his serpent tune to the crew. It took months, but he poisoned them. He was a patient man. My greatest vice, his greatest strength. He was willing to wait.

Tshanin strolled along the great Thaylen promenade, overlooking the bay. Warships massed in the waters there, prepared for the coming struggle.

Tshanin had always loved taking this walk, ever since he'd been a child, and his sister's hand had guided him along the waterfront. They would come at dusk, to sit at one of the many benches that faced out towards the sea, and wait for the stars to appear. He would come up with names for the constellations, and she would laugh, but then the next time they came, she would point out the Greatshell or the Skyeel - his mighty discoveries.

Tonight, he recognized some of the stars. They had been his companions, in these years. Since his sister's death, and he was cast into the world alone. They had no family to their name; Tshanin had never known his parents, and when his sister was buried, none had come to claim him.

But the stars had remained. They had nurtured him, watched over him when he slept under their blanket.

The stars had raised him. He had grown in their light.

And now, finally, all of Thaylenah would see him shine.

Additional details for Jo:

Tshanin is actually Thaylen, and must admit he is somewhat confused by all the council members returning simultaneously from the Reshi Isles

He is an avid fan of Vorin keteks, and enjoys writing his own

He is a relatively new member of the council (although that seems to be a common trend) following the passing of one of its most experienced members, whom he clerked for and who endorsed him as his successor before his untimely passing. Tshanin must admit a lack of experience in the realm of politics, but is eager to seize this opportunity and show the world what he is capable of

Unfortunately I don't really have time to write a signup post currently... which is both a decent reason to delay and a decent reason why I may still be too busy to play

Sign me up as Dvalk, Thaylen trader who cashed in a couple of favors to get him a seat in the government once he got too old to travel.

He pretends to be a devout Vorin, but he finds religion to be too limiting for his tastes. Plus he’s pretty lucky and likes gambling (yes I got lucky in the last game, let’s see if it continues!)

Honestly I had hoped that my Backstory about how Ralm survived the Mission to Relu-Na would be enough for the Boon. I had not factored in how Competitive SE Players are and I dont have the time or Energy to fight for the Boons. I just have to wait and see if Jo thinks my Stuff is good enough for a Boon.

My plan is succeeding. Demoralizing anyone who dares go against me for the boon. Except for Twin because wow that rp is good.
