Araris Valerian he/him Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Day 4: An Unsung Hero Mabel felt conspicuous. Everyone was watching her, weren’t they? She didn’t want this… “You want to draw a card?” Mabel jumped. It was Verna, sitting behind her, holding out the deck of cards she had received from Brax. “S-sure,” Mabel said, trying to slow her pulse. Stretching out a weathered hand, she selected a single card, looked at it, then tucked it away in her pocket. “Thank you,” she said. Standing up, she used her cane to make her way out into a hall. Looking both ways over her shoulder, Mabel reached into her coat pocket and pulled out the card. Talons. A great claw, closing around a figure. Sharp, phantom pricks of pains around her side. She held the gun in her hand. Was she the hunter? Or the one caught in its grip? There was one she could kill with little suspicion falling on her. Mabel set out in search of Verna. The gun was smoking- already it had begun to burn the tips of her fingers. A voice called out to her as she stalked through the halls- Brax’s, she thought. “Do it!” he called. “Save yourself! It’s the only choice!” Patrick’s voice rang through her mind as well. “Do it.” He was more reserved than Brax, but still the message was the same. “It is your life or theirs. So you must choose yours.” Mabel could feel herself weakening, giving in. She wanted to listen. They were those she had thought she could trust… She arrived at the room. Verna was sitting, shuffling Brax’s cards as she so often did. Mabel was up higher, hiding behind a potted plant. There did seem to be many of those around the House. “DO IT!!!!” Brax and Patrick cried in unison, their voices intertwining. Mabel loaded the gun, aimed, and… Verna looked up and met Mabel’s eyes. Mabel jerked back, shocked. Verna looked between the gun and Mabel, clearly piecing everything together. Then she nodded. A choice. Mabel panicked, running towards the kitchen. “NO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” This one wasn’t in the voice of Patrick or Brax, but of the gun itself. “YOU MUST KILL.” Talons. The grip of the gun, slowly tightening. Verna was a friend. Could she really do this? Gain an edge. The gun felt heavy in her hand, weighing her down. The screams in her head grew louder, and she almost wanted to give in, to kill. Lose a life. In that moment, everything was clear. Time slowed and Mabel made her choice. Her choice, for once. Raising the gun to her head, she wondered if she would have the courage to- Bang. Come morning, the other explorers found Mabel's corpse. Other than the rather conspicuous head wound, the most noticeable aspect of the body was its total lack of color, as if her very essence had been drained away. Among the remaining survivors, admiration for Mabel's sacrifice clashed with an ever-present suspicion of the others present. The gun that had killed Mabel was once again nowhere to be found. Someone had picked it up, certainly, but who would be left holding the weapon come nightfall? Mabel @Through The Living Star has been killed! She was an Innocent Explorer. Verdance he/him Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Harley was in the courtyard, digging up something that a map he had found hidden between the pages of an old book had shown. He abandoned the task when yet another gunshot rang out, and was the first to find the body. No. The room seemed to be isolated, and anyone who could have killed the victim would have had to pass Harley. He quickly checked any hiding places. “So it’s suicide, is it,” he said, just as the next explorer arrived. I have found an item. Not the goldmind, unfortunately. Oh, well.

StrikerEZ he/him Posted April 28 Posted April 28 I mean, the guessing is the same as any other guess at the start of a game: completely random. Unless someone wants to come out and claim it. Or unless someone notices a drastic change in another player’s behavior. But considering no one is voting on anyone yet, I’m gonna throw a vote on Miss Fallen as I think they usually would have responded by now and haven’t yet for some reason.
Miss Fallen she/her Posted April 28 Posted April 28 That’s fair, but Tims has been busy building a boot sculpture. K. set the boot she found their second night in the house on top of a nice pair of sneakers. She had gathered all the shoes she could find in the House’s impressive entryway, and her sculpture of a yo-yo was almost complete. For the finishing touch, she added the new boot found on last night’s explorations. It looked like it could use some friends, but none of them quite matched. In all seriousness, I’m just gonna say I don’t have the gun and add a poke vote to Akimiko. @Akimikoisthecutest 1

Star died with it last night, so no one voted for her, which means any of us could have the gun right now. The only thing I can think of here is Akimiko misunderstanding the Hero rules and thinking they can’t have the gun if they’re the Hero. But have they even voted on anyone in the past? I can’t remember.
Doc12 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 (edited) Today's exe will be weird because its essentially going to be random. We've got nothing to go on. No reason to vote on Fallen, but no reason not to vote on her either. Activity level wise, Akimiko has been pretty much absent. I assumed she was confused about not being able to have the gun as she didn't vote as she did not pay attention to last night's events. Everyone else's activity seems... consistent with the past few days? I like Ver from PM interactions this day. Haven't had any PM interactions today with Striker or Fallen so haven't noticed anything different yet. Qian's here. Mippo and Conure haven't posted. They haven't joined the exe in the past couple days either. Striker seems a little more active than before, but that started last night so it's not indicative of anything. Honestly, I'm fine with exeing a less active player if we're just going random. Akimiko has said she's busy and shouldn't be in this game anyway, so I'm fine with giving her an out while we don't have anything to go on. Edited April 28 by Doc12
