@Theory@Ink and Embers

Would ya'll be interested in making a collaborative conlang?

Yes, I would be interested.

Alright, so first we must decide who or what is speaking this conlang, and whether or not we want to make it natural, with a history of changes from a proto-language and stuff

So first, are the speakers human, and are they on Earth?

I feel like we might be able to do like a conlang for a Cosmere planet or something

Ooh, yes. Maybe we could make our own planet, or, say, make a conlang Alethi or something. I think worldbuilding (literally) a planet with culture and stuff would be neat.

Also, I'm all for the changing language.

So if we're making our own planet, we can do a realistic Earth-like planet with humans, a realistic Earth-like planet with aliens, a realistic slightly less Earth-like planet with aliens, a completely different but realistic with aliens, or an Invested planet with humans or other Cosmere species.

I'm for an Invested planet, and it would probably be easier to do human(oid)s. Any broad ideas for the planet? For example: Roshar is (almost) all rock, and has the highstorms. Lumar (or whatever Tress's planet was called) has the spore seas.

I already have some custom planets in FCRRP, I can use the same system to randomly generate a star system that we can say a Shard or something took over. However, I only use it for astronomical values (planet/star mass, semi-major axis, etc).

If a roll for a star system...

We got a neutron star 😂

Rerolling...

A trinary system with a G and two K-type stars

Interesting. Night will be very rare on any planets here.

I am unfamiliar with "FCRRP."

Also, I don't really know what the types of those stars mean. Trinary = three suns correct?

A rare night could be an interesting cultural element... Maybe the people there treat it as a special occasion and celebrate it? Or fear it? Like hide in their homes when it comes. Or have a party for the former.

Edit: Maybe the night is related to the Investiture? Or it's like the weeping I. That there's and absence of it during the night.

Just some ideas.

FCRRP is an RP I run, the Full Cosmere Restarted RP

Yes trinary is 3 stars. G-type is sun-like, and K-type are orange dwarves, slightly smaller than the sun.

All the stars are really far away from each other, far enough that planets won't be stolen. The G-type star has... 5 gas giants, wow.

We're meant to be conlanging, and this has already devolved into astronomy 😂

Nice.

Got it.

Do you have a map/chart of the system?

Yeah, lol. But we gotta do some world building first (well, maybe not, but what's the harm?)

P.S. I made some edits to my previous post that you may not have seen yet. If not, please take another look.

Unfortunately that's likely to be the case with Conlangs. I'm fine with you joining. We'll see what the OP says as well.

@KaladinsSenseOfHumourSprenyou could add "Cartography" to this thread's title.

Good idea! Maybe the Investiture reacts to the light.

No map yet, but we can make one later once the entire system is planned out

The G-type star has a mass of 0.94 Suns and is 246 million years old, so really young.

If I pull up the Worldsmith, it gives us everything we need to know

Screenshot2026-01-05at1_24_37PM.png.d1531cd77577308bc73e88adef656c84.png

Our first gas giant has a mass of 6.6 Jupiters and has a semi-major axis of 40.98 AU.

Of course!

I want to learn it!

Good idea. I shall also add Cosmology.

What about the reverse: Investiture can only be used during the night? That way, we could have like a "42 Inuit words for snow" but with night?

It says "Star Too Young" under Earth-like Life. Is that relevant.

Also, you forgot the "g" in "Cosmology" in the thread title. Side note: is there a length limit to the title? Are we nearing it?

Not for us, because life won't get the chance to evolve naturally here, since Shards will be creating their own life.

Fixed.

I don't know if there's limit. I'm going to add Chemistry :D

Yes, that could work too. What type of Investiture? What do they use it for?

Okay, okay, idea:

Night is short. However, there are creatures that hunt in the night and are incredibly deadly. Investiture burns up quickly but allows one to create strong bursts of light than are the only way to fight the creatures.

Anyone know how to do those calculations? @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren does whatever tool(s) you are using have celestial/planetary simulations?

Interesting idea. Kind of reminds me of Threnodite Shades. I feel like there should be another use for the Inv. though. Also, what to the creatures do during the day?

Maybe they use the Inv. for technology, like on Canticle (Sunlit Man)? Though I honestly don't want a technologically advanced planet.

Hot Jupiters are pretty common in other star systems. I haven't rolled for terrestrial planets yet.

The reason nights are short is because there are 3 stars to generate light, so it's only night if none of the 3 stars are up. Though I guess the K-Type stars won't make much light from so far away...

Uhh nope.

This is what I have: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sKERwLNqbsQwJuUbywz183ubtYKA7jdoDYnIPrIW5F4/edit?usp=sharing

The Worldsmith 8.0, by YouTuber Artifexian.

For actual simulations, someone has to install Universe Sandbox 3 or something, and I can't do that.

I might be able to install an app; is there a specific one or a specific company you'd recommend?

I love this so far! Are the night-Investiture-creatures specific to a biome, or are they everywhere? If they're Invested in the ways chasmfiends are Invested, then what they do in the day will probably vary depending on the biome. If they're Shade-style Invested (or pure Investiture), then they might end up dissipating into general Investiture soup during the day?
