Oooohhhhh. Panda can turn people into pandas, but needs an Epic's consent, right? Maybe Vondra has reports of vanillas being changed unwillingly, so when he sees Reader in a heated argument with Panda ("Be a panda!" "But I don't WANT to be a panda!") he leaps from the helicopter to keep Reader from becoming a panda. Maybe Reader's refusal to transform is one factor that leads Vondra to allow him back into The Dalles, rather than shoot him to prevent his capture in the future?

O.O

REMINGTON! DAVID! WE NEED YOU!

It's SO good. I really want to find out what happens next, but I also want to savor it. :D

That sounds perfect. Although... if vanillas can be changed unwillingly, what's to stop Panda from simply transforming Vondra the second he hits the ground? Does Panda need to touch a subject in order to transform them?

Warbreaker is one of my favorites. :D

Reader is also definitely in favor of Vondra winning, as people are much more fun to torment than pandas.

The alarming thing is that Reader already knows this.

I think touch is the easiest way for him to do it, yes. I wonder how much difference distance makes? Or if Panda would be dissuaded by a loaded gun?

It's far too easy to picture him trying to torment zoo animals with their own secrets.

I assume he'd at least need Line of Sight, I imagine that Vondra and his soldiers all probably carry a few flash grenades around to stun Epics with.

Slaughterhouse requires touch for particularly intricate changes--since Slaughterhouse and Panda have essentially the same fleshwarping power, my best guess is that Panda would as well.

What Happened in Oregon: the only role-playing game where throwing a flash grenade at a talking superpowered panda bear is a legitimate, perfectly logical option. :D

You forgot 'while falling out of a helicopter'

What Happened in Oregon: The role-playing game where whether or not a flash grenade will stop a talking, superpowered panda bear from turning you into a panda is a serious concern. :D

Although not as much of a concern as whether or not you'd still get pancakes at the local Beardapalooza if you only have a mustache.

Autumn Glass has freckles, right TwiLyght? I just wrote that she does, but I can't remember why I think that. :/

Yes, she has freckles. And if someone writes something about a character's appearance that I like better than what I wrote, I'll change it. (See: Nathan not originally written as a ginger.) :P

Nathan's a ginger?

He was originally blond-ish, but when I learned that several people had been picturing him as a ginger and that I'd never really mentioned his hair color, I changed it. Why? What had you been picturing?

Yeah blonde, ginger looks weird in my head now

Out of interest what colour is Funtimes' hair? Underneath all the glitter :P

Heh. Sorry.

Black, about chin legnth, and curly. And glittery. Very, very glittery. :P

Yay! Matching canon and headcanon!

I think that PP and Saccharine are done for the night unless anyone wants to interrupt their first night together in the year they've been apart?

Except Nighthound. Nighthound is not allowed to interrupt ever. :P

Wait. I imagined her with straight hair.   :P

Lightwards is unamused by their shenanigans, but he won't interrupt. :P

The only thing Nighthound is allowed to interrupt is a gang of Steelheart-like Epics who are so angry at the interruption that they decide to kill him. So they do. And then they're so offended that he dared interrupt them that they talk about it for the next year instead of conquering anything. :P

Steelheart, Koschei and Corpsemaker walk into a bar.

And then Nighthound died.

You tell the best stories. :P

I'm torn between having Autumn say something easily misconstrued as her working for Koschei, and having her whirl on Backtrack and ask him point-blank what lies Reader filled his head with. :P

.....

I'll go with "easily misconstrued." :D

When in doubt, torment Backtrack. :P:D

In other news, we finally meet the one man in Oregon with less joy and whimsy in him than Lightwards. Boy am I looking forward to introducing Arsenal to Doctor Funtimes. :D

When I was seriously considering this, I wanted to make sure they were both thematic and awesome. (It wouldn't do to go through all that trouble setting it up as a plot point only for her to get Sausage McMuffin powers. :P)

Anyway, here they are. They'd have put her on higher-tier High Epic level.

Primary Ability: Infinite emission of raw energy. Revolution could have generated infinite reservoirs of raw energy within her body, which she could have radiated outwards as light, gamma particles, or in a raw state to unleash enormous amounts of damage. Essentially an energy Epic like any other, but one who glows, can give you cancer, or annihilate an entire city should she so choose.

Secondary Ability: Radiant form. In addition to generating energy, she would have gained the ability to convert her entire body and anything she touches into raw, conscious energy. It would have worked similar to the abilities of fire Epics, who convert their bodies into living fire. On a whim, she'd become a humanoid construct of glowing plasma, completely impervious to all forms of damage.

Passive Ability: Limited precognition. Revolution's body would instantaneously convert into energy six seconds before she would have been harmed. As an example, she would reflexively assume her radiant form, without knowing fully why, six seconds before a sniper would have killed her with a well-placed shot to the head.

As a side note, this ability can alter the future. If said sniper were about to kill her, but saw her adopting her energy form, he might very well decide not to fire the shot at all and leave his position. This ability only predicts what would have happened, not what will happen.

I put a fair bit of thought into it. Considering our good Sunburst probably won't get to radiate death and obliteration on Oregon any time soon, I might end up recycling that power set to another Epic.

Maybe Revolution has a sister...? :P

That´s... pretty scary.

Although, given her weakness and her hometown she could easily die by someone tripping into her or a body trap, similar to the one that took out Steelheart just triggered by a neighbor.

A Princess talks with a deity.

Also teaching him how to read, best wife ever! :P

I think I might have started that with an ultimate ginger/pairing joke.  (Although, I imagined Nathan having black hair before the change)

Wait. I imagined her with straight hair.   :P

 Funtimes and straight hair?

Not to be a kill joy but wouldn´t a gun be more effective than a flash grenade (or both) to take out the Epic?

Little known fact, Brandon ends all his classes at BYU by reminding students to always end stories with 'and then Nighthound died' :P

Out of curiosity (clearly not a desire to torment him as much as possible, clearly), how would he take a comment that she used to be a part of a little church up on Mount Hood, but she was "needed" in The Dalles and knew she was "more useful" or something there?

I imagine Arsenal would register quite a few complaints about gummy bear launchers and loudspeakers that only play Ukranian polka music. :D

Depending on how it's phrased, it might be a little too subtle for Backtrack to comprehend. (This is the same man who suspects hiking boots to be Lightwards' weakness.) But then, in his panicked, dreading mind anything can be twisted around to be sinister.

Bonus points if she mentions her being a minister, helping people come into contact with the one true God. :P:D

Strongly worded complaints. :P

Autumn paused, her brown eyes taking on a sorrowful sheen. "Years ago," she said in a voice suddenly thick with what sounded like a Drusselsteinian accent, "I was a minister up on Mount Hood. It was a happy life, filled with singing and much talk of the olden days of potlucks and the terrible food they brought. But all that changed on the day when--"

"Koschei broke in, slit your throat, killed everyone else, and said he was a god," Backtrack finished.

"No," Autumn said, looking shocked. "It all changed when one of our own--our very own, a former Baptist, no less!--decided we all needed to try his homemade strawberry and cheddar cheese casserole. I fled to The Dalles before bite two."

Maybe she says she was a minister, wistfully mentions snowy nights singing hymns around the fireplace, and then snaps out if it and goes back to being all businesslike and nervous about the invasion?

She would respond by giving him a hug. :D
