What are the feruchemical properties of god metals (lerasium speificaly)? I've been trying to find theories on this while reading The Lost Metal and as far as I know it hasn't been revealed yet (the wiki lists most god metals as unknown). Considering how strong it's allomantic and hemalurgic abilites seem to be it would be interesitng to see what a lerasium metalmind could do. I'm guessing that there has already been some discusion on this topic.

A detail I've noticed while reading old wobs about Hoid is that Brandon never seems to confirm that he has acctually used the lerasium bead that he gets in Secret History, only that he aquired it and that he has allomancy. In one of the letters from The Stormlight Archive he also says that "the element is safe", which I believe Brandon has confirmed to be the lerasium. Maybe it's possible that he uses the bead as a metalmind instead of burning it?

Correct, it has not yet been revealed. Feruchemy Table

The Sharder FAQ (linked above) inludes tips for searching the Forums. Some theory threads include:

There are more, but that was what I found on the first page of a quick search. Feel free to start a topic discussion (consider using the Discuss tag) in the Mistborn or Cosmere Discussion section if you want to discuss possible theories.

Hope that helps.

We don't know. Keep in mind, we don't even know what pure Atium does Feruchemically, because the Atium we know from Era 1 was an alloy of pure Atium and electrum.

Brandon has said that everyone ought to be able to burn Atium, like they can all burn Lerasium, and the fact that they can't was an oversight on his part that he would've done different in hindsight.

Maybe now he's had an in-universe reason to re-write the laws of allomancy it's back to his intended concept; Mistborn burn all 16 base metals, mistings burn one base metal, non-allomancers can only burn godmetal.

Peter Ahlstrom

My explanation for this is that Preservation somehow caused all naturally occurring atium to form as an alloy of atium and electrum. The atium Mistings were actually electrum Mistings.

Xais56

It's a very tidy solution, but it creates the maddening question of what does pure atium do?

Peter Ahlstrom

That answer has already been revealed canonically. RAFO.

Footnote: It has since been clarified that the effect was revealed on the Table of Allomantic Metals poster and seen at the end of The Hero of Ages.

Brandon did confirm that Hoid used Lerasium to gain Allomancy and that he couldn't alloy it with another god metal to gain different powers, because of certain reasons, which means he didn't use it to become a Feruchemist.

little wilson (paraphrased)

Brandon confirmed that "the element" is the bead of lerasium. Which confirms both this theory, and the theory that Hoid wrote the letter.

When I asked the question, I also thought the element and the lerasium were different. I asked it as a "Hoid clearly has a habit for taking important items. He has the bead of lerasium and the element. What other items does he have that we should know about?"

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Brandon's response was that the bead and the element are the same. And that he has many items he should not have.

We know that Hoid took a bead of lerasium, but it never specifically says that he consumed it.

Brandon Sanderson

Yes, he did.

Questioner

Alright, so he is a Mistborn?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes, I'll go ahead and canonize that.

You said that it's theoretically possible that Hoid could have alloyed the lerasium bead with another god metal to acquire another magic. Has he done so?

Brandon Sanderson

He has not. Because there are certain things that were preventing that from working.
