Built a whole mech thing out of roseite and a massive wall too

It was with Purifed Dor

But that was with

Spoiler

Purified Dor

And I'm fairly certain that they can't do it without that. Plus they allowed steel compounders for the twinborn hunger games, and steel compounders are overpowered.

Yeah but even without he did impressive things

Also steel compounding requires a constant supply of steel

Usually, the amount of powers are made to match the games.

And in the games, versatility is so much more important than shear power. If the GMs want to pit a monster against you, they’ll pit one according to your power level. But if you have something that allows you to ignore the monster, or if you have something to negate the threat (redspine was beat with words, not blades!), then you don’t need firepower.

Sure, steel compounding has versatility. You can move fast, and you can steelpush. effective flight n stuff. But… that kinda just lets you run. You negate the threat, and then the next thing, you can’t run from. You can’t go faster than you control, which means that compounding is only as useful as regular feruchemy for finer movements. And you can’t use it to multiply the force of attacks, cuz if you punch someone at 50 times speed, your arm gets the exact same impact, and would probably rip of / you would die.

Aethers arent limited the same way.

Aether user info from Aether of Night novel:

Spoiler

Their thing (vines, crystal, etc) grows from their wrist, or wherever else the actual connection to the Aether is.

It can grow the material as controlled by the user’s commands. This is based on power (dunno if investiture was a hammered down concept at the time this was written) supplied by the Aether, not the user. The power passively regenerates.

Roseite Aether:

Uses crystal growth. This crystal:

Is extremely durable

Is as heavy as stone

Feels extremely light to the user of the Aether

Can be made sharp and dull at will

Can take virtually any shape (Yes, it can be used as Shardplate)

Verdant Aether:

 Vine growths. The vines:

are also extremely durable

these act as additional limbs

very strong limbs

can be used for climbing

If y’all have read the Tyrant RP, these guys are the equivalent to Hasrathans (before their death) [and I made those monsters before reading AotN]

don’t even get me started about midnight aether

or the teleportation one, which I don’t think is named in the book.

The point is

Both Roseite and Verdant aethers are just so extremely versatile

a roseite is the equivalent to living shardplate + living shardblade

A verdant is very powerful outside of and within combat.

And while powers were allowed in previous games, they must be balanced (I know I just called steelcompounding balanced don’t hurt me), with the theme and with the players - these Aethers seem very difficult to balance and fit well into a game.

But if they're against each other it balances it out, right?

Not really. The more versatile the players are, the less power the GMs have. It would be more frustrating if the GM wants to challenge the player, since they would have to go to great lengths to do so. Essentially, it would feel to the player as if the GM just told them that they just died, instead of giving them something they can overcome through wit or some other mechanism.

(NO OTHER GMS IM NOT GRIPING ABOUT THE GREENSPINE)
(TOTALLY)

Shoulda picked Nalthis

Awakening would probably be far easier to balance

I didn't pick anything, I didn't choose which one this would be.

Spoiler

NAME: Avaih

GENDER: Female

AGE (12-18): 17

SKILLS: Slightly experienced with spores, although primarily for mundane uses - how sunlight spores are used for cooking for instance, and she grew verdant spores a few times. Is good at math (ik reallll helpful here!) and carving wood. She is also very quiet.

BACKGROUND: Lived in the Sapphire sea equivalent up until the Civil War, when her family had to flee from their home to try to stay safe. Her mother died in the war. Avaih, her father, and her younger sister ended up in the Verdant Sea, and she hasn't been back to the Sapphire Sea since. Until she was Reaped, she worked as an accountant. She is very quiet, and has been since the Civil War, only talking if its important / necessary to speak to someone or to her sister.

WORST FEAR: Disappointing those she cares about

FAVORITE COLOR: The same shade of blue as zephyr spores (bc Sapphire Sea)

OTHER: idk

If I can still join (fully understand if not)

Looks good for the most part. I’m putting a map of the continent in the spoiler box under this. I’d say the archipelago and the peninsula would be the best locations to look at
