Jo and the Bush all/any Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 (edited) Lightweaver led Evi, ____, and Iggdraz through the halls. They were surrounded by a troop of 40 lifeless guards, freshly made with commands that only Evi and Lightweaver knew. They had examined the evidence, first compiled by the priests of Elsecaller, and found the lies hidden within. Elsecaller, for all her paranoia and carefulness, had 3 traitors in her court. Kabsal, the poisoner, she had caught simply by recognizing the sensations in her body. She had set to work gathering information, but those efforts had been sabotaged by CD, who had been in her court for a long time. But examining the reports carefully, knowing what they now knew about CD, brought additional news to light. Lharir, her third in command, had been carefully protected by CD. And so his fate was sealed. 40 soldiers, 3 priests, and a Returned marched to kill one lone assassin. They were confident in their odds. *-: Lharir was exhausted. “Grace of Daybreak; command, ignore all orders not preceded by the word Cyan, Grace of Daybreak. Cyan, go stand in the North Corner, Cyan.” Another twenty or so lifeless soldiers moved away to stand with the others. After he had killed Leucosia and Zyvoxid here, the barracks had been far more strictly guarded. But that had been easily circumvented, since the lifeless still obeyed the commands he had secretly inserted into them. It had required him to massacre the priests who had already been inside, but they were oppressors. “Grace of Daybreak; command, ignore all orders not preceded by the word Cyan, Grace of Daybreak. Cyan, go stand in the East Corner, Cyan.” Another twenty or so lifeless soldiers moved away to stand with the others. He had been in here for 3 hours now, hijacking lifeless while Lightweaver and her priests searched for him. It would have been a waste of time to debate them. Maybe if Evi had died when she was supposed to, he could have talked his way out of this mess. A few small mistakes and everything crumbled. They would have to try again, but be more patient, more subtle. Or he could just brute force it now. “Grace of Daybreak; command, ignore all orders not preceded by the word Cyan, Grace of Daybreak. Cyan, go stand in the Center, Cyan.” The last 20 lifeless in this barrack walked away to join the others. 10,000 lifeless, all of Windrunner’s army, taken and turned against Hallandren. He knew why they had been against this plan in the beginning, far bloodier than simply killing all the Returned, but he couldn’t kill Lightweaver and the rest without killing their guards at this point. “Cyan!” He screamed this command, so that every lifeless could hear him. “North Corner, hunt down and kill Dustbringer the Brave! East Corner, hunt down and kill Windrunner the Protecting! South Corner, hunt down and kill Skybreaker the Just! West Corner, hunt down and kill Edgedancer the Loving! Cyan!” 8000 lifeless marched up the ramps to the palace proper in four directions, towards the palaces built on stolen land. Lharir remained, surrounded by 2000 lifeless soldiers. He waited, knowing that eventually, Lightweaver and the others would find him. :-**-: They watched, nervously, as Lifeless streamed past them. It must have been hundreds, streaming out from Windrunner’s barrack. Maybe thousands. They ignored everyone around them, even when orders were shouted at them. Evi, with the Breath of Truthwatcher still in him bringing him to the 6th heightening on top of her normal breaths, was using their 40 to capture lifeless, a few a time, and forcibly reprogram them. There were other high ranking priests doing the same, but it took minutes at a time to erase the commands of a single lifeless, and it took breath. Whatever these lifeless had been ordered to do, this wouldn’t stop them. “Evi, cease.” Lightweaver pointed towards the Barack. The stream of lifeless had finally ceased. “We cannot stop this group, others must manage on their own. We can assume that Lharir is in there causing this. Our task is to kill him. It won’t end the threat, but there might be more he plans to do.” “Yes my lady.” Evi released the struggling lifeless. It stood, and rejoined the others. They were marching towards Dustbringer’s palace. Evi had only managed to reclaim 6 lifeless, but that brought them up to a contingent of 50 people. It would have to be enough. The group marched down the ramp. :-**-: Lharir watched them come. He stood near the front of the group. Close enough to order the first troop forward without being overheard by Lightweaver, but far enough back that she wouldn’t immediately see him. As soon as Lightweaver’s priests were all in the room, he gave the order, “Cyan, kill Lightweaver, Cyan.” He hurried backwards, as the first 20 or so soldiers charged forward. Once he was further in, he gave the order again. *-: They were attacked immediately. Evi and Lightweaver exchanged looks, and then her Goddess stretched forth a hand, and mist coalesced into a gleaming blade. “_______, Iggdraz, this fight will be deadly, head back out.” The two looked at each other, then fled back up the ramp. “Evi, I need to use my blade, but you do not yet, please send Puzzle to spy. If we can learn the code to controlling them, this battle will turn immediately.” Evi nodded, and glanced to Puzzle, who flitted away immediately, moving in that strange way towards where hundreds of Lifeless stood motionless, apart from the small groups charging them. Lightweaver arranged their 46 Lifeless as a funnel, with herself at the tip. The opposing lifeless charged forward, eyes only for her. They attacked other targets only if they did not see another path to reach the Returned. Given such shoddy orders, 46 could take 2000, especially if one of those 46 had a Shardblade. :-**-: Lharir gaped. What in the Tones was that sword? That couldn’t be done with Awakening, could it? It cut through Lifeless like they were Awakened from paper! He had to change tactics. “Cyan, circle around them and attack from behind, Cyan.” He went to the next group. “Cyan, attack the Lifeless protecting Lightweaver, Cyan.” The next group. “Cyan, kill Evi, Cyan.” “Cyan!” A small voice that sounded exactly like his said from the floor. Lharir looked down, and saw nothing. What had that been? *-: The Lifeless changed tactics. Abruptly, they found themself in a losing battle. Lightweaver couldn’t take the time to rearrange her troops, and so Evi found herself desperately playing general, organizing their surviving lifeless into a semi circle around Lightweaver, in a slow retreat to get their backs to a wall. Puzzle zipped up to her, and then Lharir’s voice sounded. “Cyan, kill Evi, Cyan.” Evi grinned. “Cyan! Protect Lightweaver! Cyan!” :-**-: No! No no no no no no no! How?! Lharir raged. He still had 1500 lifeless to give orders to, but now Evi was ordering his lifeless, that he had spent hours stealing, against him! What had that thing been? How did she learn the code?! “That’s it, I’m done with this grey-scale world.” He spat out, then screamed. “Cyan! Kill Evi! Cyan! Ignore all further orders! Cyan!” He pulled a sword off one of them, and charged with them. :-**-: They got lucky. The sounds of combat had drowned out the scream. Only the Lifeless who hadn't been fighting heard it. That meant that Lightweaver and Evi had about 300 Lifeless following their commands to protect Evi from 5 times that. It wasn’t enough. Ichor Alcohol flowed, turned the packed earth into mud. A dozen times, Evi found herself cut by a blade, and a dozen times, Lightweaver was there destroying the lifeless. But eventually, Lharir himself slipped through the lines. He stabbed her himself, a blow straight through the belly. She clutched his hands on the hilt of his sword and watched as his eyes smoked and went out, as Lightweaver was there once more, too late. She fell. MR74 - The End: Puzzle Doc12 was killed (maybe?) by Xinoehp512, who was then! Iced Out Penguin and technically Aeternum are the only survivors! The Game has ended! But one final vote remains! I call upon the players, living and dead, to vote. Which of the 5 remaining gods survive? There is a combination of them that might be able to save Evi. The Loyal Priests have defeated the Pahn Kahl Conspirators! It was a very close call there. A few different votes and the PKC would have swept. If you would like to see what was discussed in the various courts and Docs, open this link! That is the Master Doc that contains every single Google Doc used for this game. I did have a Spreadsheet for tracking votes and seniority, but eventually I just stopped using it. This game didn’t quite need it. @Aeternum as @BigBadBagsworth as Iggdraz the Confused @xinoehp512 as @KaladinsSenseOfHumorSpren as Lharir @CoderDrag0n8 as CD @Hoid Slayer as Ekkar Loral @ThatOneWorldhopper as As If @TwinStorm as Matrim Cauthon @KelsierApologist as Zyvoxid Linezolid @IcedOutPenguin as ___________ @The Unknown Order as D'delaier @xxGaea as Leucosia Thalassa @Doc12 as Evi @Amanuensis as Kosm @Araris Valerian as Arlun I’m okay with how this game ran, but there are significant things I would change. For one, I would have two gods give up a breath each cycle. For two, I would change all of the God’s powers. Windrunner was a anti-village ability pure and simple, and I didn’t realize that until too late to change it. Some of the others were just boring. I also had them in the wrong order. Some of them just don’t work if their seniority was too low, such as Willshaper. Additionally, I think players should have been able to deliberately change courts, so that there can be planning about how to get different people into new courts to try to control how the breath is used. And Finally, I made the Seniority system too complicated for the priests. I should have just set it as is and left it, instead of making the seniority change when players lost their god. It was predictable on my end, but I don’t think anyone realized it was changing in set ways on their end. Edited September 15, 2025 by A Jo in the Bush 3
Amanuensis he/him Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 (edited) Thanks for running this, Joe was fun, and definitely agree that having 2 Gods give their Breaths at once would make it less vanilla, although I certainly didn't mind sometimes discussion is all you need Edited September 15, 2025 by Amanuensis 1
Doc12 Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Awww did I still die? I'd hoped that with the last conspirator killed Evi might have just lived to the end of the game

Yup. If a player was in a court who's god gave up their breath, that player was put at the bottom of the Seniority because they moved to a new court. The Seniormost priest of the Seniormost god was always the least seniorpriest the next cycle. Confusing! Unintuitive! Bad game design! Why did I decide to do that???? Doc12 Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 I really liked the role Evi came to play in the write-ups I'd be really sad for her to actually die having survived to the end of the game Put in my vote as whoever can save Evi I really like Lightweaver, but maybe Windrunner can be the protecty one
Hoid Slayer He/Him Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Thank you to everyone for making this an incredible game! First and foremost, a huge thank you to Jo for running this on relatively short notice and pulling off an incredible game. Don't be so hard on yourself - the game design was a little confusing, but it was still super fun. And by the way, those writeups were amazing CD, TOW, Ksauce (and Xino)... you guys almost pulled it off there, but just barely fumbled it in C4. Consider this a congratulations for what could have been Araris, I'm sorry once again for the turn C3 - I'm still figuring out the strategy for this game, and maybe following my gut wasn't the best idea 17 minutes ago, IcedOutPenguin said: The last three cycles were played perfectly Well... they were played pretty obviously, but things did fit together quite nicely at the end there I'll make a longer RP post tomorrow when I have time, but first, @A Jo in the Bush, it isn't letting me access the docs... it just redirects me back to this thread
