Edit: the more I think about it, the more I am convinced that this is a perfectly reasonable avenue for Preservation/Shalta to pursue. No form of Preservation would allow the inevitable destruction of… straight up everything, I guess. There is the notion that Preservation would prefer to combat it by stopping it, not destroying it. However, the only way to stop the black hole is by destroying it. Either destroy, or be destroyed. Preservation would not particularly like either, but it would recognize the ‘moral’ catch-22, I feel. It would have no significant reason to begrudge or resist such a course of action, when faced with the extreme it currently does.

It’s a trolley problem, I realize.

That's cause she was a very new vessel. The shard itself didn't like it, but it didn't matter because she died during the process.

This would be like if you started breaking a thousand oaths to keep one larger one.
