Wind and Truth Szeth discussion. According to the epigraph in front of chapter 147, Szeth is married to Shin Elsecaller/scholar Masha-daughter-Shaliv. ANY theories on how they met, where their wedding was, who attended, and when we’ll be seeing them in the future?

Sorry! Autocorrect changed “Szeth” to “Szechua” last min. NOT a peppery discussion! Can’t fix it, sorry again.

Well we know that she helped Szeth bury Kaladin the "day after Stormfall", so literally one day after the end of the book and her family lived near the Bondsmith monastery

I'm sure we'll see them in the second half of the archive

We also don't know that she's an Elsecaller, just that she is part of an order headed by Jasnah, which I think is honestly more likely personally.

You should be able to fix it by editing the first post and changing the title.

Please see the Sharder FAQ for more information and other tips.

Considering the world had been recently taken over by a dark god and a perpetual storm blanketed the area, I would assume not many people showed up to the wedding.

On a side one, one heck of a way to meet your husband by helping him bury his friend while he explains that he was fighting the ghosts of his family while the Heralds were watching.

My guess is that the “Order” Jasnah is the head of is the Veristitalians. I kind of think Jasnah might abandon her oaths for a while in a crisis of identity and belief, now that doing so wouldn’t turn Ivory into a deadeye.

Please stop.

We get it, you disliked Rhythm of War and have stopped reading Stormlight Archive. You have not read WaT and don't even know what is being discussed. You have your thread to discuss what you did not like and why - please stop just adding random negative comments to every active thread. Or, go discuss the other Cosmere books you did like in their Forums (if you have read other Cosmere books, since I do not see an Intro Thread to tell us what you have or have-not read).

If you have only read Stormlight Archive, that may be a contributing factor to your dislike; as it is the series with the most crossover from other series (by a lot). Based on your reactions thus far, you may not enjoy Elantris very much; but you might find what you like in Mistborn Era 1 (The Final Empire, Well of Ascension, Hero of Ages).

Hope that helps. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Fair enough; I will endeavor to be more balanced in my criticisms as yes, there was a ton of great moments in the series.  The Way of Kings, as a standalone book, is among my favorite fantasy books ever.  It's why I am so shocked at the following entries into the series and, as you've noted, the rapid decline in RoW and WaT.  And I agree, I won't be touching any of Sanderson's other material if this is how he wants to approach the fantasy genre now.  It's too bad as I was a huge fan of his work up until this point but wow, it's like he's just pumping out material to hit a word count.

I'm sorry. I still don't see an Intro post, can you share what else you have read from Sanderson - or was it only Stormlight? Also, keep in mind that Moshe, his long time editor, retired after Oathbringer - and that contributed signifcantly to the changes seen in RoW, TLM and WaT. So, if you have not tried his other work (Cosmere or non-Cosmere), then everything published before 2018 hits the same standards you saw in WoK. The Emperor's Soul is, to me, one of the best novellas in Speculative Fiction (no caveat - Fantasy, Sci Fi, Sci Fan - all of it), for example.

For the record, my Cosmere Reading discussion is here - My take being that there is no one "correct" reading order and the best thing for new readers is to make an informed decision for themselves based on pertinent data and personal preference. That said, I would never recommend starting Cosmere with Stormlight Archive. It has the highest learning curve coupled with the most detail lost because there are so many references that will not resonate without the other background (the first Cameos were in the first interlude of the first book, for example - Blunt, Grump and Thinker are each from a different Cosmere Story).

It's certainly good enough that one can read the story without getting lost (many on this site did start with Stormlight Archive first, after all), but things like the Letter (epigraphs in every book) are just a whole lot of names that mean nothing without the other books and so don't add what they should if WoK is your first-ever Sanderson or Cosmere.

He also has good non-Cosmere stories and series, like Rithmatist, Cytoverse, and Reckoners.

If you are, instead, looking for non-Sanderson things to consider next, we have the Recommended Reading thread as a list of Non-Sanderson books and series - all updated to page one so no searching for updated lists and organized by Genre. First post includes instructions if there is something missing you would like to recommend.

Hope that helps

Ok, slightly off WaT topic, but I suppose it hasn’t been on topic for some time. Dude. You have to at least read Mistborn. It came out before Stormlight, so it’s still that era you like. Read it with an open mind and you won’t be disappointed.

Another time we agree. In my very unhumble opinion, also the best of Brandon's works, because the space restrictions automatically eliminate what I feel are the major flaws in his writing. (By no coincidence, also his only Hugo winner.)

No, I think Sanderson is way too close to Jasnah as a character to allow anything to happen to her. My guess is that this crisis of identity will be long forgotten by the next book

I have my own complaints about the series though I do think I enjoyed it overall more than you did I’m curious whether or not the part we found frustrating our similar
