Nitpicking Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 Sorry about the vague title, but I couldn't use "Vaporized the Stormfather" without it being visible in the topic list to non-spoiler-wanters. So, Retribution vaporized (didn't absorb) the Stormfather. I'll bet that in retrospect, Taravangian feels like a complete fool. He could have Unmade the Stormfather and greatly improved his own position. Where did the Investiture from the Stormfather go? Well, maybe some of it to Syl? The Wind? Thousands of new windspren and/or gloryspren? The Tower (one reason why Odium can't just take it an Unmake the Sibling)? Other ideas?
LeondeBowa Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 Best guess, following entropy, the investiture was converted to heat energy Investiture in this world is basically an extra form of energy, so it can t be destroyed but it can be converted to another form. Vaporised implies heat so...

I think it was either instantly returned to Honor, or it will slowly return to the SR and slowly be reincorporated with Retribution. Some of it might have been snatched by Syl, but she might have been invested by the little parts of Honor separated from it when Retribution was formed. The Sibling can't be Unmade because Honor forces Taravangian to respect the terms of Dalinar's contract, which establishes a ceasefire and peace after the contest. 1

You're right... In the next scene of the book, Syl has changed form and is described wearing a dress "for a queen" and has eyes full of storms. So I'd say it went to her as the stormfathers heir. It wasn't really focused on in the scene

My thoughts would take me towards Wind reclaiming the investiture of the Stormfather after his vaporization. But idk. I'm currently on a quest to figure out what's up with Wind, Stone, and Night. We've heard Wind talk to Kal throughout WaT, so where is Stone and Night?

I think this is correct. Investiture can't be created or destroyed, so the idea of it 'vaporizing' seems more like a poetic descriptor than something that should be taken literally. Or maybe the Stormfather was the Investiture that went off to somewhere unknown. 1
