Trusk'our he/him Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 (edited) I know Ghostbloods is still three-ish years away, but what are people's hopes for it? Personally, I really hope we see more of the Koloss, their culture, and maybe some specific quirks of Koloss-blooded. We got a few tiny tidbits in Era 2, but not much. I'd also love to see Southern Scadrial. I'm sure this one is a guarantee- it's just too big to not visit. We know so little about the culture and infrastructure that it's kind of unnerving, actually. Magically, I want to see a bunch of stuff. Obviously, because I am me. Feruchemy: specifically, I wanna know more about spiritual Feruchemy. We still don't exactly know what to expect from Spinners, Trueselfs, Connectors (kinda. There should still be a lot more), and Soulbearers. What can any of them really do, and what are the disadvantages of them storing attributes? Do Spinners have spidey-sense? Can Connectors do stuff like Connect to Shards or Investitures more? What can we expect from Soulbearing Twinborn? What do Trueselfs even do? Mechanical Investiture: now that Unsealed Metalminds are a thing, and one that's going to be industrialized, I really want to see them used in a broader context. What can they be used for? How are they more limited or more versatile than natural Feruchemy/Allomancy? Does the nicrosil portion actually stick around permanently? And, most importantly, what are the steps to making one? And what of Harmonium? I'm almost certain that its being integrated into a more sophisticated magical device to do what we see, but how are those made and what are the limits they have? How is Harmonium harvested anyway? How much is available? And, speaking of Harmonium. . . Godmetals: we were promised an exploration of Atium's and Lerasium's alloys, and now that they have a plausible method of creation, they can be explored a little. Spoiler https://wob.coppermind.net/events/361-skyward-pre-release-ama/#e11332 SquishyMouth Godmetal alloys in Era 1 feel a bit like an unfulfilled promise, can you tell us about the attribute stored in a metalmind made out of any atium/lerasium alloy? Brandon Sanderson No, not yet. (This is something I intended to get to in Era 3, and am saving for it.) How do Feruchemical powers interact with the alloys? Would each Godmetal alloy be usable by the mundane metal's Ferring/Misting? What's Lerasium's primary effect? What powers does Trellium grant? Twinborn: there are of course plenty of cool combinations, and I'd like to see more synergies between them. Even more importantly, I want to see some Resonances laid out. Then we'd be able to get a feel for how others might pop up and what to expect from them power wise. Hemalurgy: honestly, a bit lower on my list of desired Investiture learning for once, but I'd like it if we could know what burning a Hemalurgic spike really does. It splices sDNA, but doesn't graft on powers. What does that mean? How, specifically, does the Flaw work and what contributes to it? Measurements: finally, I'm glad that the scientific method is planned to be seen more in depth. Spoiler https://wob.coppermind.net/events/26-lucca-comics-and-games-festival/#e4570 Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) The "perks" ("secondary effect born with interaction between powers") also has not a 100% sure name, but the main one at the moment is resonances....We will discovered a lot of the in the third trilogy where the Scientific Method would be applied to the magic. Getting solid measurements for the Metallic Arts would be awesome. How many BEUs is it possible to shove in Metalminds of certain sizes (they might come up with a different measurement system initially, but still)? How Invested are Metalborn? How much more Invested are they when burning metal? How fast do spikes decay? How much power do spikes initially lose? What's the equation to figure out the drop-off of compressed Feruchemical attributes? How quickly does each metal burn for its mass? Edited March 29, 2025 by Trusk'our 5
Through the Living Hopper He/Him Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 Personally, I'd like to know exactly what it looks like inside them when they are burning metals. We know that they're not really "burning" them, but that name came from somewhere. 1

We know that they're not really "burning" them, but that name came from somewhere. I thought we had that answer from Era 1 - it's the warm/hot feeling of releasing investiture into the body. Burning metals feels warm - flaring feels hot. From the Coppermind: Spoiler When using their powers, many Allomancers describe a warm feeling in the stomach, hence the term "burning metal". An Allomancer can also burn their metals at an accelerated rate, which is called "flaring." Flaring grants more power, but the reserve of metals depletes much faster, too.[10] Allomancers can burn metals from any planet in the cosmere.[11][12][13][14 Example: TFE Ch 7: Spoiler Vin gripped the source of power and tried to use it. Immediately, she felt a flare of heat from within her chest. It wasn’t discomforting, but it was obvious and distinct. Along with the warmth came something else—a feeling of rejuvenation, and of power. 10 hours ago, Trusk'our said: Godmetals: we were promised an exploration of Atium's and Lerasium's alloys, and now that they have a plausible method of creation, they can be explored a little. 10 hours ago, Trusk'our said: Measurements: finally, I'm glad that the scientific method is planned to be seen more in depth. The question then becomes "are those WoBs referring to the current Era 3, or is it old enough to possibly be referencing "Mistborn in Space" - former Era 3, and now Era 4?" 2

Cosmer Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 3 main things… Ghostbloods and their Cosmere-wide plans. How does the apparent colonizing future of Scadrial match up with Kelsier’s Scadrial protection-above-all-else plan entirely? I want more examples of Allomancers using the mists (or pure investiture). Always so fun and seems to be where we are heading with other forms of investiture coming to Scadrial…we think. Allomancers off-world…I want to see Kelsier send one off-world and how that magic looks elsewhere! 1
CoderDrag0n8 He/They Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 I really want to see: Metal Prices: This is a theory that I have brought up before, but what if certain metals go up and down in price based on their metallic arts value. 1
JustQuestin2004 he/him Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 I hope to see the seeds of the 'Cyberpunk' Era, probably with corporations getting their hands on the secret recipe for making Medallions and trying to pressure the Terris Village's Feruchemists into working for them or something along those lines. Showing how corporate greed will spread to even supernatural powers if given half a chance. Something I'm really hoping for is for all of the secrets that have been hidden to become public, like Kel still kicking around, Autonomy's existence and how Scadrial is technically undergoing an alien invasion, whatever is happening with Discord, and the reveal of the true nature of the Cosmere becoming common knowledge on one of the major worlds. I want to see how these secrets will literally change the world. If knowledge of Autonomy and the invasion were to become widespread, how would that affect the geopolitics? Would the North and South unite against this common foe? Or would they decide to war against each other for their respective resources to strengthen themselves against the threat? Would Worldhopper become celebrities? Or would Scadrian society become paranoid of the aliens among them and try to weed them out? How would the North and the South react to Kel? Would they find common ground in their worship of the same man? Would the Malwish feel betrayed that their Saviour is so close with the filthy maskless barbarians of the north? Would the Northerners feel betrayed that their Survivor has been fraternizing with the aggressively arrogant Southerners and never bothered to give the incredible knowledge of Unsealed Medallions to his own people? So much to look forward to, but above all I hope that secrets will be revealed. And my own personal theory is that this will be how Trell makes a comeback, not by hiding in the shadows like the Set, because that didn't work with their enemies persistently uncovering their secrets. But out in the open, exposing all kinds of secrets in order to cause as much chaos as possible. Maybe even finally popping the big one and making Hemalurgy public knowledge. 4

WoBs: Spoiler Quote Questioner Are we gonna possibly get another Mistborn: Secret [History]... Brandon Sanderson So, depends on my time. Like, Mistborn: Secret History, I started writing in 2006, and I released it in... 2016. So, it took, like, 10 years to get that, because it was a side-project of a side-project. It's, like, so self-indulging, Mistborn: Secret History is... So, Secret History 2, will I ever have time to do that? Well, it depends on if I can do it in a way I don't feel is interfering with the main Cosmere timeline. Because we would all like to see Secret History 2. But not if it means we don't get Stormlight 9, if that makes sense. It's gonna depend on my writing time, on how I'm feeling about various things. You are more likely to get it the more I work on Era 3, because Kelsier is a part of Era 3. JordanCon 2018 (April 21, 2018) Quote Timsama Is finding out what the deal was with Mare, is that an Era 2 thing we're going find out or is that... Brandon Sanderson No, unfortunately it is to be left, probably, as a mystery. It is a minor secret that I do not consider a major Cosmere thing, more of a backstory thing. I might eventually get around to it. The chances of it factoring in are very, very slim. I stay closed lipped about it because there is a part of me that thinks I will work it into Secret History 2, sort of like flash-backing material, but I'm not 100% sure I will. FanX 2018 (Sept. 7, 2018) Quote Questioner I like Mistborn: Secret History. Is there going to be a Mistborn: Secret History 2? Brandon Sanderson I hope to be able to write one. But this comes back to the "Let's make sure I'm getting the things that I have promised sequels to moving at a reasonable rate before I do side projects like that." So, I'd like to do one, but I'm not promising one. Skyward Seattle signing (Nov. 10, 2018) Quote Questioner When will we see a continuation for the Kelsier story? Brandon Sanderson You'll see a little glimpse of it in Wax and Wayne 4. Otherwise, you're gonna have to wait for either [Mistborn] Era 3, or if I manage to do a Secret History 2. Which I can't promise that I'll be able to do. Questioner Secret History was I think my best part of the Mistborn series. Brandon Sanderson Oh. Thank you. I do want to do one, but we're gonna have to see where the time... where deadlines fall and stuff like that. Tel Aviv Signing (Oct. 18, 2019) 2

I also expect the trilogy to take on a wider scope, more similar to Era 1 than 2, since it’s been planned for so long. And of course a Secret History 2 would be awesome 2

Sophrosyne He/any Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 Me I wanna see more on compounding. Surely, it's possible to hack the system to supercharge other invested arts. and reverse compounding is a thing right? I also want to see more god metals in general. All of them seem to have some innate magical property Trellium of course repels investure and Harmonium explodes but surely the Scadrians would experiment with any they got their hands on. 2
ParaTulip fae/faer (declines as she/her) Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 I am most interested in the potentials of Hemalurgy. It is the most egalitarian form of magic we have seen, as having access to books that guide Intent and metal enables anyone to do it. I could imagine all kinds of fun and interesting potentials in combining biotechnology with hemalurgy to allow people to trade out aspects of themselves with one another. Sure, there are a lot of ways this can be abused, but Steel Pushing has probably killed more people than Hemalurgy ever has, nevermind guns. I actually just got out of seeing No Other Land, a documentary which included a scene of a mother saying that, were it that she could give her life to reverse a spinal injury inflicted upon her son, she would be glad to be able to do so. My mind, perhaps in craving for the chance to think of anything else but the horror of that, did produce the reaction that this would not be an issue with a magic like hemalurgy, and that it is a shame we are not provided with such an elegant tool in our world. 5
The Splinter of Ambition He/Him Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Some characters that are simply Ferrings that have a deep understanding of their powers and could maybe teach a new full Feruchemist, like how the Mistings in Era 1 help teach Vin. 3
Elite01 Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 (edited) I want to see the nose ball sport Wayne was starting regulation for. Cosmer Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 I do wonder who, if any, of the era 2 characters will return for era 3. I know we’ve got a decent time jump, and even Wax’s kids would be pretty old. One of my hopes is that Wax finds a way to stay young and hang around. Now that he is a Mistborn, maybe he can find a way to spike some feruchemical gold ability to himself and compound healing. Marasi not joining the Ghostbloods was interesting…but I fully expect we see her story continue SOMEWHERE, but I don’t think it’ll be in Era 3 Mistborn. 1
The Great Wyver She/Her Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Personally, my hopes are to find out how some compoundings (like Chromium) work, and more details about Trellium, Harmonium, etc. 2

Though my theory on what they might be is a subspecies of Kandra, who use metal exoskeletons rather than endoskeletons like regular Kandra. It's said they were made by the Lord Ruler, who made 3 Hemalurgic Constructs, Koloss and Inquisitors can't be Kalki's, they're recognizable, which leaves some form of Kandra as the likeliest suspect with their shapeshifting. 2
