”English, yes. I can work with that.” He looked down at the pool of water, which suddenly began to shimmer. Colors bended around the surface, eventually settling to form an image of a small rune stone. “For millennia, this stone held the gods and myths of the world, collecting more and more over the ages. Two weeks ago, this stone was broken,” the rune stone in the water snapped, and an explosion of light rushed across the surface of the water, spreading past the pair’s feet. “And the myths were released.” From the broken parts of the rune stone suddenly shot out a massive column of light straight up into the sky, crossing in between the pair.

Subconsciously, Piltzintecuhtli expanded Joseph’s sensory capacities within this vision, allowing him to fully experience this. Within the column of light moved hundreds, no, thousands, of forms. If one focused, they would see gods and monsters streaming past them, taking their place in the sky. Sure enough, the sky of the vision also changed, as orbs of light of different colors and sizes began to populate it.

"Okay, like. I know that. Trolls attack Oslo every night. I'm guessing you're a god? What do you want from me? I have Bio in like 10 minutes."

Piltzintecuhtli raised his eyebrow.

"You will not be attending bio."

The pair suddenly fell through the surface of the water, and the scene changed. They were now floating in the night sky high above central Mexico. Far below them, the lights of Mexico city illuminated the land. Suddenly, a large rumbling sound reverberated through the land. The lights went out. And the land itself began to move.

Lakes and mountains crumbled away as a massive form began to rise. The being, whose body was the Earth, raised its head back. And roared.

"Tlaltecuhtli. Lord of the Earth. For centuries, she was kept sated by blood and ritual sacrifice. When the Spaniards arrived and destroyed our people, her soul was trapped, along with the rest of us, within the rune stone. But now she has returned. If she is not appeased within three weeks, she will rise and claim the world as her sacrifice." Piltzintecuhtli turned back to Joseph. "My task, with your help, is to prevent that from happening."

Besides, every end times is soon to happen. Ragnorak, Apophis eating the sun, Armageddon. Why is the Lady of Earth's gnashing teeth any bigger of an issue than He Who Hates Eating the Moon?"

Piltzintecuhtli looked at him quizzically for a moment. Ragnorak, Apophis… even after two weeks, he still struggled to adapt to the sudden appearance of all these new deities.

”I do not know much of some of these ‘end times’. Perhaps they are just as big of issues as Tlaltecuhtli’s wrath. But they are not my job. She is.

”And to answer your question, she is rising because it has been literally hundreds of years since she was last sated, and no, we cannot divert the blood being shed in the so called United States of America. We are gods, not omnipotent.” He turned his attention back to the scene, rising them in the sky to better observe the widespread ruin.

”If we are to stop Tlaltecuhtli, we must conduct the sacrifice, ritually, in a temple in her domain. Our time is fleeting, Joseph. Will you accept this call, or must I search for another mortal to execute this task?”

Fred walked through the streets of New York , excited. It had finally come. The moment he was waiting for his entire life, the endtimes. Well, now that they were here, he needed to survive. He pulled out a small pistol and moved to the entrance of a store.

Piltzintecuhtli dismissed the vision, and they were back in the hallway. This, of course, still wasn’t Piltzintecuhtli in person, just a projection in Joseph’s mind.

”I used to help people. Now… I don’t know.” Memories rose in his head. The last two weeks, wandering. Seeing how the world had changed. And that night… standing atop the mountain, above the lights of Mexico City. The knife, shaking in his hand. Waiting to spill blood. Yet inside, all he felt was cowardice.

Piltzintecuhtli sighed. It was back to the drawing board, then.

”Very well. I cannot force you. I can only urge you to keep this with you.” He handed Joseph a stone whistle, with an engraving of a mushroom on it. “If you ever change your mind or need me, blow it.” Even after Piltzintecuhtli ceased to project himself to Joseph, the whistle would stay behind. As he began to fade, he left one final message.

”Know that you could have been this world’s savior.”

Piltzintecuhtli watched from above. Joseph had been a mistake; but perhaps this man would be different. He seemed to be more ruthless, for one. Maybe he would understand what was necessary.

As with Joseph, Piltzintecuhtli pushed a sliver of himself into Eclipse, and they were in the vision of the pool. The shallow water stretched infinitely in all directions, and the two men were ankle-deep.

”Eclipse (fancy last name), you have been chosen.”

She closed the dumpster. "I was at school when the monsters came. Me and Brielle hid in the janitor's closet for a long time. When we came out, everybody was gone. So we both walked home together, and when we got back to our apartments, it was really late, like ten o'clock or something. Everything was in a big mess when we got back. And Dad wasn't there. I tried calling him on the emergency phone, but he's not answering. So I grabbed some stuff and moved it to the trash. Then I started looking for someone to help."
