Name: Kane

Pronouns: He/Him

Skills/occupation/’class’: He is a hunter - good at making traps and executing them. Good with the blade. High-end low class. (‘Round the same level as a merchant.)

Appearance: Grim. Hateful. Scars. Tall. Lean.

Backstory: Has a twin that he promised himself he would protect - even though she by no means needs protection. She left after getting married, and they fell out of touch. He visited, and eventually killed her husband, and then his twin. Sooooooo… he’s messed up.

Items of note they have with them / weapons: Daggers. Rope. Knowledge of how to set a trap. Paranoia. A mask, because what psycho would be complete without one?

Personality: Very, very paranoid. I’m actually basing this character off a writing project… the main villain that snaps and kills all his friends.

GUYS THE CHARACTER ISNT MESSED UP HES ONLY SLIGHTLY INSANE.

Nice!

I'm loving these characters! They're all very unique and fun! I can't wait to get started, hehe.

DANG THIS TOOK OFF

😭 I did not expect this many new people!! It's great, but I think I'm going to have to make a spread sheet to remember everybody.

!! Just to clarify, we are all started in the place, a wealthy tavern in Teth. The opening scene when I post the actual thread will start in the tavern, and from there everybody will meet and get to know each other for a bit. Directly from the tavern, I'll kick start the story (But I can't say more on that, or else spoilers hehe). Please keep that in mind !!

@BlueWildRye (I forgot to quote your post) sounds good!
@Through The Living Glass You don't have to make a character sheet if you don't want too (I happen to like them, because it helps get to know peoples characters and commit them to memory a lot easier, but I know we didn't use them last time).

Character sheet for August: (I'll get to June soon)

Spoiler

Name: August (Name before becoming a month: Ranyua)

Pronouns: He/ Him

Skills/occupation/’class’: August can hold his own decently well in most fights. While a month, he helped the emperor complete administrative work and spent a lot of time working in politics.

Appearance: August is on the shorter side, around 5'6. He has curly black hair, pale skin, and thick freckles on his face and hands. August is 32, but looks younger because not only does he have a bit of a babyface, he's also somewhat pretty. He wears fine, but practical clothing, and prefers white gloves when he get them. He also likes wearing earings, because he's silly like that.

Backstory: 10 years ago, before the months were formed, August lead a rebel campaign bent on taking down the empire. He failed, however, and after being captured was made a month because the emperor admired his talent. As a month, he helped raise June, July, and April, as they were all brought to the palace as small children. He sees them as his siblings, despite the circumstances. His past as an enemy leader has become a bit buried. The emperor wanted to keep it quiet. Older characters, or higher ranking characters might know about it, though--this is up to you.

Items of note they have with them / weapons: August carries a longsword, though his weapon of choice is a Yǎnyuèdāo, those are hard to find in Worru. Other then that, he has a pack with essentials, and the clothes on his back, but not much else. He's been on the run the past few weeks, and only managed to sneak back into his own mansion once to grab money and a few other things before it was looted and taken by Januarys men. He has a small assortment of lock picks in one of his boots.

Personality: August is mature, and rational. He tries to think his way out of problems, instead of immediately starting a fight. He has a slight accent because the common language of Worru isn't his first. He likes reading, and avoiding difficult conversations. He means well, but can be overbearing to those he thinks he needs to protect.

Of course, Rye's story ended with him getting taken away by foreign soldiers so that he could steal his equipment back. Assuming there's a time skip, Rye would probably be back in time with all his gear back.

Shenai soldiers?

Yeah, that's what they were called.

We're starting in the town Teth, so according to the world map, Rye would have to cross an active warzone and would likely be captured if he was going straight to Teth from Shenai. Also, if going at a leisurely rate, it takes two weeks to get from Sunny Point to Jouken on horseback

So there's no way he can be there at the start, then. Ok, so I'll make another character and then introduce Rye later on.

Oh, sorry if I didn't explain that very well. The premise is that they did all make it out one way or another, but ended up separated, this is them finally meeting back up.

Honestly, if you wanted him to be there I wouldn't mind. We can bend the rules of logic a little for a clean start, I'd think. But you could also just introduce him later if you wanted.

Okay let's see if this works.

Hey there! Spark and I have been talking about rebooting the Fantasy--No Magic RP, by starting a sequel thread. The rp ended up going inactive after I decided to start my soft rp hiatus. I’m finding now though, that not only do I have time, but I really really miss roleplaying with guys and having fun.

We decided it might be a good idea to open the rp up to new players because we’ve lost a few (I miss you wyrmie), and I thought it would give us some momentum as we get started.

Original people: (If you no longer want to be involved, that’s cool, just pinging you because this is your story just as much as mine!) @Spark of Hope @Through The Living Glass @TheRavenHasLanded @Exotic Almond @BlueWildRye

For older players, I'd recommend making a character sheet still, whether you plan on playing the same character or a new one. I'll help me keep track of things, and is a good way to introduce your character to new players.

For new people:

FNM is an old rp that was started last August by Witsthebest, the only premise being to tell a medieval(ish) based fantasy story that didn’t include magic (I mean, it’s kind of in the name). I ended up directing a lot of the plot after I brought in some of my own original characters and we decided to let their story play out.

In general, we’ve tried to keep this roleplay a bit more grounded and less chaotic. That said, we have pushed the line on the ‘no-magic’ rule to some degree. As I see it, we’re telling a story that falls in the line of magical realism. Certain folklore-like things can happen if they make sense in context, and have good reason to exist.

For example, we had a religious character who could experience visions because of her religion, or a ninja character who had ki-powered martial art abilities, allowing him to pack a bit of a harder hit. But no outright wizards with spell books. Hopefully that makes sense to some degree?

In the end, if you have an idea just reach out and we’ll chat about it!

As for ‘season 1’ of the rp, here’s a brief summary of stuff to know so you’re less confused as we get started. (It’s over a hundred pages, so I definitely don’t see anyone going back in and reading it). I’m going to do my best to make the start of the roleplay as new-player friendly as possible, but hopefully this will help give some context:

The Worru empire is in chaos. Just a few weeks ago, during a trial held at the palace, the emperor was murdered. Three main contenders remain to fight for the throne: February from the north, January in the middlelands, and October in the south.

Before his death, the emperor disowned his own children, dissatisfied with their potential as heirs. Instead he adopted individuals collected from across the land, whether for their deeds, talents, or abilities. He believed that they could lead his empire into an eternal era of prosperity, and to represent this hope he named them after the months of the year. Some chose their place, and acted as powerful warlords. Others were taken and held against their will.

Now that the emperor is dead, three contend to take his place, and the others have run, gone into hiding, or completely disappeared.

The capital of Jouken, where the murder took place, is now under January’s control. He seeks to take out as many other months as possible, validating his claim to the throne.

Having murdered the emperor with his own hands, June is now facing the terrible consequences of his actions. He travels with August, despite how much he dislikes him, because of a promise made to his twin brother July. August plans to meet with some of his old war friends to discuss the conflict. He’d fought against the empire long ago, before being captured and forced to become one of the emperor's heirs.

The duo are waiting at an fairly nice tavern in Teth, a smaller city just outside the empire's massive capital of Jouken. It’s quiet enough that they can avoid the attention of January’s army, and regroup. Hopefully here they can discuss with friends and allies their next move.

In Truehearth, a large city just outside the Worru empire, waits Jolane, a friend the months made during their travels, as well as September and July, who have travelled ahead of the others in pursuit of safety. August and June plan will include meeting up with them, but first they have to escape the empire.

(Unfortunately all the months are established characters, whether involved in the current plot or not. If you’re super set on playing one, we might be able to work something out, but you’ll have a lot less freedom for character creation for the sake of story continuity).

On top of the chaos in Worru, rumors of a civil war in Shennai have made their way across the ocean, and advanced weapons of war developed over there have started to seep into the empire.

(Shennai was created by Wyrm, but is currently being controlled by Spark. If you want to play a character from Shennai, or that has Shennai weapons (firearms) ask her).

The role play is going to start at the aforementioned tavern, whether you want your character to be aware of the meeting of old characters or not is up to you. I'll do my best to weave your ideas into the plot! (I know starting at a tavern is cliche, but it works every time, and I like it, so that's what we're doing). I will reserve the right to veto any ideas that I think won't work, but I'll do my best to work with you all so we can still include your ideas. The goal is for everyone to have fun, and I'll just be here to try and preserve the fairness of that.

Yup, that's great! We were going to send her to Truehearth with the others, but if you want her to be somewhere else that's great! We were just putting her there because we didn't know if there would someone to play her.
