VioletNebula_ She/They Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Yello, hello, whatever greeting works. I'm Violet. I've come here from the discord, and I am slowly working through the Cosmere. Uh, Nightblood, Hoid and Lift are subjectively Very Objectively the best characters that have come out from Brandon Sanderson's work. Oh, and I will fight everyone in a duel for the title of #1 Wit Fan. That's all. 2
IcedOutPenguin He/Him Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Welvome to the Shard! Would you mind telling us what you've read?

I’ve read Stormlight + WaT + Edgedancer, Mistborn Era 1 and Secret History. I’m starting on MB era 2 and I’m keeping the secret projects til’ the end! 1 hour ago, #1 Taln Fan said: Welcome to the forums, fellow Taln appreciator! Is it cheap to say Starspren and Gloryspren? They had the best scenes in the books (the Oathbringer sanderlanche for Gloryspren and the Starspren scene in Shadesmar.) The best sort of Radiant spren are probably Cryptids, purely because of Design and Pattern. 4 hours ago, Terrisman said: Hey there!! What order do you belong to? According to the test, Elsecallers. I have always loved Tolkien's work, even if I must admit that it took me several tries to get through the books because I first tried to read them at age 10 and bounced off of it like oil and water. But, after reading LotR, the Hobbit and the Silmarillion, I have learned to appreciate all of the things that Tolkien has written.

It took me about 4 years to get through the entirety of Tolkien's works and now I love them unlike any other books on the planet (apart from the Bible). Also is the WoT a series worth finishing? I'm on book 2 and to be honest, its a bit monotonous. 1

Trying to keep this one short because I don't want to derail thread - depends on what you like in a book, doesn't necessarily translate well. If it doesn't pick up for you by Book 3, I'd say drop it because the middle is especially sloggy and you don't need to force yourself to go through 10+ books to confirm if you like/hate it. (I'd suggest Book 4 as the cut-off but IMO that's a bit too much a time investment, though YMMV.) An alternative is to skip the others and just do/try New Spring, as it's a self-contained prequel (nothing in it should be surprising to you given you're on Book 2) and IMO better-paced/potentially a bit more interesting than the early WoT books. 1
