How does he know this? Ave has avoided telling him anything about her family, hoping she'd never see them again

Gem stared. "I'm going to find my mom." He said quietly. "You lost her." He glared at Elan. "YOU lost her. And now I'M going to find her."

He sprinted out of the building angrily.

Elan looked at Insa. "We're... still getting used to life together. He'll be alright."

Insa nodded. “I understand.”

“We should go after him though right?”

Elan looked at the door. "Things might just be better if we don't."

Insa glanced at the door, “Alright.”

She opened a portal.

“Let’s get going. I don’t want worse things to happen cause we’re taking our time.”

"I am. Quite audacious of you to threaten my servants."

"Quite audacious of you to kidnap my mom." Gem said. He flicked his wrist, a movement barely noticeable, and in the blink of an eye a dagger was lodged in the wall right next to the man's head. "I expect her back."

"Your... mom..." He wander-paced. "I see...."

Insa followed.

They were in a room full of records.

“Do what you needed to as fast as you can and meet me back here. If you’ve got nothing help me find y’all’s records. Aventine’s, Elan’s, and Gem’s. They’re all in alphabetical order. It should be a folder with the names on them.”

"Must be quite a mother, if she raised you to think threats get you what you want."

"Oh, she didn't teach me that. I learned that on my own. And it isn't really the threats, it's the fact that once you're bleeding out at the neck on the floor you no longer have the ability to stop me."

Two people walk into the room. Both of them look like Elan... sort of. Different outfits and builds, but they're recognizably the same.

"These are the people I was here to meet. We can help you look for the records."

Insa smiled. "That'll be great. I'll go look for Aventine's."

She went through stacks of records until she found the A's. Fairly simple, considering A is usually the first letter in the alphabet.

After some quick but careful searching, she pulled out Aventine's file. She opened it to find her last name.

Nice.

Erikell.

Insa opened a portal into the library and stepped through quickly.

She summoned over a small glowing light librarian and gave it some quick directions. It sped off quickly, leaving Insa alone for a moment.

She dropped into a chair and sighed. It was the few moments like these where she actually missed Saar. Saar had had a bad habit of dropping helpful hints at the most convenient moments. Of course, those hints would later be expected to be "paid" for with awful favors. And that's where any positive feelings for Saar were dramatically thrown into a fireplace and incinerated into ashes.

The glowing librarian returned a little slower than it had left under the weight of the records it was carrying. It thumped them down onto a nearby table.

Insa sighed again and sat up. She had asked for any records from Scadrial that could maybe be helpful, and the library had delivered. As it always did.

She began quickly flipping through the records, hoping for any helpful details.
